Lyrics
Hoverin' by my suitcase
Tryin' to find a warm place to spend the night
Heavy rain's fallin'
Seems I hear your voice callin' "it's all right"
A rainy night in Georgia
A rainy night in Georgia
Lord, I believe it's rainin' all over the world
I feel like it's rainin' all over the world
Neon signs a-flashin'
Taxicabs and buses passin' through the night
A distant moanin' of a train
Seems to play a sad refrain to the night
But it's a rainy night in Georgia
Such a rainy night in Georgia
Lord, I believe it's rainin' all over the world
I feel like it's rainin' all over the world
How many times I wondered
It still comes out the same
No matter how you look at it or think of it
It's life and you just got to play the game
Find me a place in a box car
So I take my guitar to pass some time
Late at night when it's hard to rest
I hold your picture to my chest and I feel fine, I feel fine
But it's a rainy night in Georgia
Baby, it's a rainy night in Georgia
Lord, I believe it's rainin' all over the world
Kinda lonely now and it's rainin' all over the world
Rainin', rainin' rainin', rainin', rainin' rainin', rainin', rainin', rainin', rainin'

Not a song, it’s a rap battle. Such a dope moment! I need Brandy to put her rap album asap.
Get into this show if you haven’t already.

I immediately fell in love with this song when I first heard it on The Who's Next album many years ago. I guess I just love the sweet, sad, wistful sound of the music, and the piano work by Nicky Hopkins.

This is a great song. I went to a party last Sunday and met the band and spent the night drooling over some of the boys. Also met the older couple in the video.

I learned the truth at seventeen
That love was meant for beauty queens
And high school girls with clear skinned smiles
Who married young and then retired
The valentines I never knew
The Friday night charades of youth
Were spent on one more beautiful
At seventeen I learned the truth
And those of us with ravaged faces
Lacking in the social graces
Desperately remained at home
Inventing lovers on the phone
Who called to say "Come dance with me"
And murmured vague obscenities
It isn't all it seems
At seventeen
A brown eyed girl in hand-me-downs
Whose name I never could pronounce
Said, "Pity, please, the ones who serve
They only get what they deserve"
And the rich relationed hometown queen
Marries into what she needs
With a guarantee of company
And haven for the elderly
Remember those who win the game
Lose the love they sought to gain
In debentures of quality
And dubious integrity
Their small-town eyes will gape at you
In dull surprise when payment due
Exceeds accounts received
At seventeen
To those of us who knew the pain
Of valentines that never came
And those whose names were never called
When choosing sides for basketball
It was long ago and far away
The world was younger than today
When dreams were all they gave for free
To ugly duckling girls like me
We all play the game, and when we dare
To cheat ourselves at solitaire
Inventing lovers on the phone
Repenting other lives unknown
They call and say, "Come dance with me"
And murmur vague obscenities
At ugly girls like me
At seventeen

At Seventeen lyrics © Sony/ATV Music Publishing LLC

This song resonates with me, as I had a miserable adolescence, being forced to remain in the closet and being considered a persona non grata by my peers. It's a song of personal sadness set to a gentle Bossa Nova beat, in contrast to the anger I often feel on looking back at those days. Janis Ian came out as a lesbian, so she is indeed a kindred spirit.

This is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard in rock music. Robin Trower is widely regarded as one of the greatest guitarists, but the best musicians are thought to be not only those who can play the most technically elaborate and complex pieces on their instruments, but those who can accomplish the most beautiful playing,

I can't close my eyes
The empty bed chases sleep away
And my life is melting away
And it's disappearing quickly, in a split second
Prayer, like ardour on my lips

Here's a beautiful French version of "Beyond the Sea." Pornoboy posted this song in the Earworms thread in Hot Topics. Well, I went online to find an English translation of the French words, because they sounded a bit different from the English version. And then I found this live version by the same singer. Sometimes it pays to go down those rabbit holes.

Ok, its in a movie but I prefer Ewan McGregor's version of 'Your Song' to Elton John. Sorry

The same can be said for "I want To Know What Love Is' by Wynnona Judd (I liked it long before her mom's suicide) BUT Foreigner does a great job of the song as well
To bad the video quality is sub-par

And 'A Note to God' by Charice is awesome!!!! 2:59 WOW
Songwriter Dianne Warren is in the audience
