Survivor 24: One World (Redemption Island is GONE!)

Wouldn't Alicia be a more obvious Final 3 goat than Kat? Kat is ultimately harmless and the core of the girl alliance has rarely talked badly about her, whereas even Sabrina is like "Gurl, you need to chill" in confessionals about Alicia's busted ass.

And I don't care that Tarzan's point about boiling water killing the bacteria IS right. I wouldn't want some old dude's shitty underwear thrown in with my laundry either.

Since Survivor (unfortunately) does the F3 thing now, I'd take BOTH Tarzan and Alicia to the finals with me and get every fucking vote.

i agree with you about the final 3 situation, i mean it was cool the first season they did it, but it doesnt do anything. you do realize that in the 9 seasons that they have had the final 3, only 1 season (china) had all contestants voted for. all other seasons its just two people and the other gets no votes.

jeff said they dont liek to do final 2's because they dont want a repeat of liek palau where it was obvious tom woudl win against katie,

of course one season they didnt have final 3 (micronesia) they got rid of cirie who was my fav, and probly would have wont hat season over parv, even though i liked them both.

I want Kim to win this season SO damn much because she's the strategic, non-passive female winner that I've been wanting for years, but I fear the possibility of her being blindsided because her edit is TOO good.

OK did I call it or what? Not to toot my own horn, but Kim and Jay are the smartest players right now just like I said they were a few weeks back.

Kim, for smartly playing both sides against the middle and getting Troyzan to flip and give the girls an even bigger numbers advantage, and Jay for being the only guy to correctly figure out that the girls could take over the game and trying to put a stop to it. I enjoy both of them and it's just unfortunate that their games are at odds, because it means one of them will likely get the upper hand and vote the other one out sooner or later.

Oh who am I kidding? Toot! Toot!

I agree! She's my favorite right now (yes even more than Jay's chest) and I'm afraid she's either going to get blindsided soon OR she'll get to the end and lose to someone like Troyzan. Who I'm totally predicting to win based on soundbite edits, the same ones that told me Fabio was going to win a few seasons back. Notice too that 7-Up product placement which clearly required a contestant to ask, "Can we have a taste?" and who did they choose to ask it? Fucking Troyzan.

BTW slip are you saying Kim is the kind of player you've never gotten as a winner or just not in a long time? Because I'd totally count Parvati's Micronesia win as one.

Just not in a long time. I had Parvati in mind as the last female winner cut from that cloth. It's crazy but that was FOUR YEARS ago, which is why I said I'd been wanting one for years. I love Natalie, Sophierce and especially Sandra but I want a woman whom the editors can't hide behind men and whom I can shove in the casual fans' faces and tell them to STFU when they think guys like Samoa Russell and South Pacific Coach are good players.

Troyzan had a terrible edit for his winner chances tonight especially considering how Kim duped him. I had him in contention as a possible edgic winner but I don't think so anymore. They didn't even mention him finding the idol last week in the recap! He screams fan favorite more than anything.

Jay for being the only guy to correctly figure out that the girls could take over the game and trying to put a stop to it.
How did he try to stop it? He voted for Mike. That doesn't seem to be a smart move to put a stop to the girls taking out the guys. Next week's preview it looks like he may try; but it might be too late for that to work. He should have trusted his instincts more in tonight's episode.

Also I have a question to any of you guys who check out this thread. Do you think that Kim is cocky?

The main debate in the Survivor Sucks edgic thread about Kim's edit is whether she's being portrayed as such because of confessionals like the one where said that the game was "easy" after she found the idol (despite adding on that it would get tougher later). I personally think she's a pretty laid back chick and don't find her particularly cocky nor smug, but I could be watching her through fan-colored glasses.

Mostly I've just noticed her consistently presenting us her options, weighing them out, and then either acting them out or maintaining that she wants to keep her options open. However, this is why I fear that she could get blindsided. Survivor rarely presents their winners THIS perfectly and unopposed in a strategic sense and especially not when it's a woman.

He's the ONLY guy who figured out the obvious (that the girls had a numbers advantage and one of them needed to go) and he totally tried to get them to swerve from the plan to vote out Mike. When that failed, he went along so he wouldn't stick out and become a bigger target, which is smart. Remember in the voice-over he said he'd go along if the votes were there just to save his own skin. It's not like he was the swing vote and could've saved Mike had he voted differently.

I was also surprised because Jay just screams dumb-hot, yet he was able to solve the puzzle and win immunity by being slow and methodical.

Kim's still my #1 though for all the reasons slipintothefog mentioned.

Unsurprisingly, I'm totally with you. But of course you know the way uneven gender politics works. If a woman is intelligent and methodical she's perceived as cocky or cold. If Kim was a flirt (think Parvati) or an idiot savant (think Big Brother's Jordan) she'd be a fan favorite and would be getting more credit, and a warmer edit.

I'm actually VERY impressed not only with her ability to think carefully, position herself between two alliances, and make and execute the best decisions for HER game thus far, but also with her ability to articulate all of this without the typical Reality Show verbal mangling that usually occurs in voice-overs and diary rooms.

Also, we don't get all the intricate play-by-plays that we get on Big Brother (due to the live feeds) so we have to read between the lines on Survivor. Kim being able to effortlessly convince Troyzan (who's not a total moron) that Mike was out to get him even though Jay had already warned him that they needed to prevent the women from taking over the game, without Troyzan even questioning Mike about it, indicates that Kim is coming across as sincere to people in her alliance. So sincere that her word was enough for Troyzan. Notice too that when Jay articulated his fears about an all female alliance, he didn't even target Kim specifically, or single her out as the mastermind. All of this speaks volumes about Kim's excellent gameplay.

Did you see South Pacific, Pepper? Wondering what you thought of Sophie after reading your analysis for Kim.

She was also neither of the mentioned flirt/idiot categories - however because of Survivor's recent trends of making their winners as inoffensive as possible, and because the people out there really didn't like Sophie that much, her edit was very watered down behind Coach's, and so the casual audience was just as mad that she beat Coach as when Natalie/Sandra beat Russell.

I did catch up on South Pacific and like you, I was rooting for Sophie. Not right way because they really didn't do her any justice with that edit but by the time she bested that asshole Ozzy in that puzzle/immunity challenge (a nail-biter that would've put him in the finals and given him the win he and Probst have wanted since Cook Islands, and for denying them that I will always be grateful to her) by then, I was definitely a fan. And certainly I wanted her to win over Coach and Other Guy.

I thought Sophie in some ways was an excellent example of the type of female winner I always want to see on this show but rarely ever get: a smart player who can also win challenges and doesn't have to use flirting to advance. The sort of all-round good player we see all-too-often in (some) men. Sophie finally did it but unlike Kim, she didn't seem to drive a lot of strategy -- which I don't think is necessary at all in terms of winning, but it's thrilling to see someone like Kim do it anyway.

It also seemed like Sophie was perceived by (some) jury members as stuck-up, which I didn't get from her at all, but it was a stated concern, and I think Sophie ended up winning despite that drawback for two reasons: 1) Coach and Other Guy were less appealing choices and 2) Sophie gave one of the best performances at TC in a long time, shedding tears at the right moment to appear humble in the face of "haughty" accusations, but still strongly maintaining all the reasons why she deserved to win. At this time, I don't see that Kim is being perceived that way at all (quite the opposite which is why she can permeate two alliances so effortlessly) which means she should have less trouble with the jury if she can get to the finals with two goats.

To me, Kim is getting a way better edit than Sophie but I can't figure out if that's because she's due for a blindside, or because there's just more to show because she actually IS driving a lot of strategy right now.

I was actually pro-Dawn the entire time and was CONVINCED she was going to win the season because women in the Redemption Island era didn't exist and Dawn had a bizarrely large edit for somebody who got like, 10th place. At least Sophie salvaged the end of the season with gems such as:

[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sedIIqDVylo[/ame]

I'm convinced that Sophie's bad edit was totally a byproduct of Survivor sterilizing its winners. Savaii thought she was a entitled brat for most of the season but we haven't been allowed to have a negative winner since... Todd?... so she became a toneless narrator which only led to people being disappointed when Coach was portrayed as the strategic leader of the alliance and he lost. :/

Sophie didn't play a proactive game but that was her smartest move because the jury disliked the other two even more than her. Still, this is why I CRAVE a Kim victory. If she wins, there's NO man she's allied with that people could interpret as the one who did all of the strategic maneuvering in her place and there's no room for people to view her victory as one of a coattail rider who was luckily rewarded by a "bitter jury" (barf).

^^ Haha yes. I always love it when contestants are openly unimpressed with Jeff. Sophie joins Courtney and Jonathan Penner in holding Jeff in low esteem, thereby earning my high esteem of them.

Oh and I know I say this every week, but there really WERE a lot of nice shots of Jay's chest this week and I was like BRING IT ON!

Eh, I say he still didn't try hard enough to rally the other guys. Since he already knows the girls plan, there was really nothing to risk by trying to keep the guys aligned. I think he is going next. He's the biggest threat to guys and the girls now. And he's in the minority. Can't get worse than that. He's got to win the immunities or he is screwed.

The one who is underrated is Sabrina. The one who is overrated is Chelsea. They let Kim do the strategy. Puts more of mark on Kim, if people (like the suspicious Jay) finally question.

Chelsea is a bit of emotion and is loose. (She wasn't thinking smart when she talked voting out Mike right in front of Alicia and Christina, who aren't, grand scheme of things, a part of the in-group. Also: for the smarts that are possessed by Kim, she should observe that Chelsea may unintentionally undermine her goal.)

With Sabrina, she keeps herself better in check. The fact she gave hidden immunity idol to Colton, early in the game, wasn't questioned. (Had she needed to explain, she would have stated that it was required, with that idol's message, that she give it to a member of the opposite sex. That she simply followed that rule.) And people don't tend to look at Sabrina as a target.

If Kim pulls off Final Three where a minimum of two (including her) are females, Sabrina may be the better partner. (Though of course, Kim could see Chelsea as less a threat. Tarzan easily intimidates Chelsea.)

I so called it last week. Tonight was full of bad choices and judgement all stemming from Jay's lack of action in last week's episode. Blowing the immunity challenge for food was extremely stupid. As was telling the girls that Troyzan has an idol. Seriously, Jay had no logical strategy, especially knowing about the girls' dominance.

I love Queen Kim, let's be real.

The booted contestant today would be hotter without the constant sourpuss.
