Survivor 28: Brawn, Brains and Beauty

J'Tia was entertaining and I wish she stuck around. Even though she did throw away the rice and did suck at the challenges, she was fun because she had a level of self-awareness and self-deprecation that most of Survivor's villain and/or buffoon edits lack. That being said both times in this episode I was cringing for her ineptitude at the challenges being highlighted over and over again so maybe a mercy killing was for the best.

I guess what puzzles me is the indecision when it came to who was going to get the boot. It has been obvious since the beginning that J'tia was a weak and volatile link. To see her go over Spencer was the best thing for that tribe except now they are merging. I wanted to see the dynamics of the brawn tribe when it came to having to go to tribal but now we are going to lose that. The two cops and the lies would probably have won out and Cliff would have been gone. Geez, how hard to lose a challenge when suck was the name of the game.

L J is hot.

Oh my god, you guys. Survivor beat Idol last night! I'm pretty sure this IS a first. (Side note: if you don't know much about TV ratings, the 18-49 rating and share numbers are more important to TV networks and advertisers than the total viewers. In this case it just means a quarter million more 50+ cougars were watching Idol instead of Survivor last night.)

That's awesome. Despite Harry being the best judge since Simon, this season's crop of singers on Idol are SO uninspiring, that I haven't even bothered to watch the live shows (I usually just check various reality show blogs to get the general temperature and everyone seems to agree this season sucks). I think there's something cool about a show like Survivor doing so well SO far into its run. It's not even live TV and yet it's the one I want to watch as it airs.

Of course, my happiness is counter-balanced by the fact that all of this just makes Probst happier.

Probst is the proponent for garbage like Redemption Island, returning players on every season, and eighteen million Idol plays consisting of good gameplay, though. If anything the super fans should be shoving in his face the fact that Survivor is beating Idol for the first time based on the strength of an all-new cast in the three-tribe format and without RI or idol shenanigans.

Question: Do you think people misunderstood you this season?

J’Tia Taylor: I’m a complicated person, so that is certainly something that’s easy to do. I don’t fit neatly into one category or what somebody would think just looking at me. I did everything you saw on TV. There was no CGI J’Tia dumping out the rice. That was me. I can be bossy. I can be mean. But I feel like that’s only one facet to the diamond that is J’Tia. So there ya go.

OMG, I love her. Please randomly return someday like Monica.

slip, how do we feel about LJ? Not as a personality mind you (he has none), but he seems like he may be one of those rare hybrids i.e. conventionally attractive enough to be my type but still "thick" enough to be your type.

He's alright, I guess. Attractive but I wouldn't fan myself furiously over him. My boyfriend watched the premiere last night and he liked Garrett, Woo and kind of Spencer (because he likes nerdy guys) the most for the guys, and Morgan's boobs for the girls. He didn't think any of the male Beauties were that hot though.

LOL Trish is such a Gollum. It made total sense for her to jump ship this week, but I don't really see how this benefited Tony. Lindsey and Woo's faces when Cliff was voted out were Eliza levels of awesome.

I'm so supporting Aparri !!! Morgan, Sarah, Spencer, Tasha !!! Huge fan here !!

This season is freaking cool !!! They dont need to bring returning players to have an awesome season !!

trish did the right thing but Im not sure tony did tho !! I hope sarah is not in a too shady position !!

I have to say the immunity win was one of the most joyful I have ever seen. Oh happy reigned down finally on Spencer (my fav) and his girls.

CBS Survivor: 2.4 rating, 8 share, 9.58 million viewers
FOX American Idol (8-10PM): 2.2 rating, 7 share, 9.66 million viewers

There is only one response to this:

What an odd return from tribal when Trish and Lindsey got all over each other and Lindsey deciding she couldn't deal with it. The meeting with Jeff on the beach and choosing to just fade away rather than say goodbye.

I could listen to Jeremiah talk forever. He reminds me so much of those uneducated goofs from the South who have never learned how to string his words and sentences in the right way. I screeched last night when he was trying to explain that he did not receive an idol clue.

I guess Tony must be a Probst fav since he is a sneaky, lying, giggling, self-congratulatory oaf.

And when Trish said she was a man and Tony said he knew it all along.

Also, LOVED Morgan's smug smile and hair flip when Alexis got voted out.

Love how many blindsides there has been this season think its a great season so far and love how Morgan and Spencer have made it to the merge after Jeff saying how bad they would do.

This season has a seriously terrible boot order IMO and it's still a great season overall. Don't know how that happens but I like it, and it's a great change after I was apathetic about so much of Caramoan and Blood vs. Water. Trish and Lindsey's feud was hilarious and I wish Lindsey didn't quit in the most anti-climactic way possible. Tasha or Trish for the win!

I also REALLY hope Sarah was being legit about cutting her ties with New Solana because New Aparri is clearly the superior tribe. She has the ability to totally fuck up this season for good if she goes running back to Tony at the merge.

Yeah, I don't want her to get back with Tony because I have a serious dislike of his character and personality. I don't care how clever it seems to him to think everything has to be underhanded and on the sly. I wouldn't mind Trish (the man) winning and hope she at least lasts awhile. Her pot stirring skills are great.
