Re: Taylor Swift - Speak Now

Her new Album is coming out later this year!!!!!!

Let the countdown begin ;)

Re: Taylor Swift - Speak Now

On our list of the 10 highest-paid celebrities under 30, women take six spots, and four of the top five, led by Taylor Swift at No. 1. We estimate that between May 2011 and May 2012, Swift earned $57 million. Each of the 22-year-old singer’s three albums have gone platinum at least four times, meaning that in these days of waning music sales, Swift can be counted on to sell at least 4 million copies of every album.

Go Taylor!!!!!!

Re: Taylor Swift - Speak Now

Taylor Swift wins 5 more awards ;)

Country music star Taylor Swift, 22, picked up five awards,
including choice music female artist and female country artist,
as well as voice actress for her role in animated comedy "The
Lorax." The singer was also among the top winners last year at
the awards show that airs on the Fox television network.

Re: Taylor Swift - Speak Now

She has done so much at such a young age.

Make some more room on that mantle, Taylor Swift! The songstress can add another award honor to her repertoire from one of the most famous families in America.
The newly dark-haired singer will be receiving the Ripple of Hope Award from the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rightsthis December.

The award honors leaders in entertainment, business and social activists who work to make a change in society. With Taylor’s efforts to inspire and change the younger generation, organization president Kerry Kennedy knew the fit was perfect.
“Taylor Swift’s dedication to advocacy at such a young age continues to inspire me, and I’m delighted to honor her as one of our 2012 Ripple of Hope Award recipients.”

He continued in the statement to rave about her accomplishments: “as a young person, Taylor has already accomplished so much, and I look forward to watching all that she will do to help build a brighter, more peaceful world for us all.”

Swift will join previous prestigious honorees including President Bill Clinton, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Bono, George Clooney and Vice President Al Gore.

Taylor Swift controversy..boo

I don't think that Patrick has that much pull with the award committee.

From Eonline:

Taylor Swift is flirty with a Kennedy, and suddenly she's getting the Robert F. Kennedy Award. Coincidence?
—C. Theorist, via the inbox

I adore a good conspiracy theory as much as the next paranoiac. And, at first, there does seem to be an interesting coincidence going on.
Yes, I can confirm that 22-year-old country-rock-power-pop star Taylor Swift will receive a prestigious award Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights.
And, of course, Swift also happens to have become tight buddies with Patrick Schwarzenegger, son of actor Arnold and Kennedy-by-blood Maria Shriver. In fact the singer and the 18-year-old model spent Independence Day at the Kennedy compound in Cape Cod.

So are the two facts connected? Here's what I dug up:

The first thing you should know is that this a award is a big deal. Awarded to big people. Who have done very, very big things. Like, say, rule the free world. The honor, called the Ripple of Hope Award, highlights "leaders of the international business, entertainment, and activist communities who demonstrate commitment to social change," according to a statement from the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights.
Previous recipients? How about President Bill Clinton, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Bono, George Clooney and Vice President Al Gore?

And now...Taylor Swift

But before you start making accusations of nepotism—or whatever it is when someone spends July 4 at your family compound and then gets your award—know this: When I reached out to the foundation, the person who spoke to me hadn't heard of the Patrick Schwarzenegger/Taylor Swift friendship at all.

And one other thing you should know: Swift really has, apparently, earned this award.
"What strikes me most about Taylor is the work she does away from the spotlight—her leadership in the movement for arts education, her generosity to communities devastated by natural disaster, and especially the compassion she's shown as a proud defender against bullying and LGBTI discrimination," Kennedy Center President Kerry Kennedy said in a statement. "As my father Robert Kennedy said to the students of South Africa in 1966, our world's hope rests with our youth.

"As a young person, Taylor has already accomplished so much, and I look forward to watching all that she will do to help build a brighter, more peaceful world for us all."

Maybe the Kennedy folks are just trying to reach out to a younger demographic?

Re: Taylor Swift controversy..boo

Meh. I think the bar has been set too low. I know there are some who have achieved much by the age of, let us say 25, but I doubt some watery tart who has had a couple hits qualifies for any sort of achievement like this, especially when compared to other recipients.

Re: Taylor Swift controversy..boo

But she is still going to get that award:wave::gogirl:

Go Taylor!!!!!!

Re: Taylor Swift controversy..boo

I can't wait!!!!

The singer announced on Tuesday (August 7) that she will be doing a live webcast on Monday (August 13) at 7 p.m. ET. The event will go down on her official YouTube channel. The date of the livestream is hardly a coincidence as 13 just so happens to be Swift's lucky number.

"Hey, it's Taylor. So I really want to talk to you about something. I would love it if you would join me August 13 for a live webchat," she said in a video tease posted online. "You can ask questions. I want to share some news with you, some really cool news. Not gonna go into it too much, but it's cool. I'll see you there."

Fans who want to get in on the action can ask Swift questions through a live social chat that will take place during the stream. Additionally, there will be a Google+ Hangout created around the event.

The Album information is already posted on her youtube page and her single is out on itunes!!!!

my niece is a HUGE fan of hers and some of her songs have catchy lyrics and music
and i dont mean any disrespect but, i think she is overrated.
Her likability (in very sharp contrast to the sexy images of singers her age) i think makes her win the awards.
while i think mayer is a huge d-bag, i think he was right in implying that swift isnt a really good songwriter.
i think she is talented but just not worthy of the awards she has been getting in particular, one of the big 3 grammy award

oh and her new single, we are never ever getting back together is incredibly catchy, too.

Can she be #1????

From Billboard.com:

"We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," the first single from Taylor Swift's fourth studio album "Red," due Oct. 22, appears headed for digital sales history. It, meanwhile, blasts onto multiple Billboard airplay charts following its first week of availability.

According to updated industry sources, the track, released late Monday, Aug. 13, will have moved more than 600,000 downloads by the end of the Nielsen SoundScan tracking week yesterday (Aug. 19). Considering that its opening-week sales projection has grown to at least 600,000, "Never" will likely earn the largest week ever for a song by a female artist - and the second-biggest week ever.
