Hi guys! I just joined JUB & it seems like a great site. I live in Louisiana and may have time available to join the group in Dallas. What's the initiation rites for a newnie to come along? I've subscribed to the thread so I'll watch for developments. If I do go, I'll drive, so if there is another member in LA who wants to ride together, that may help me to make up my mind. :)

Our buddy in the UK quasar21 hooked gl247 (who's also hosting the event, and who's "gay bar cherry" is going to get popped that weekend! :p )* and I with our first siggies!

I encourage all others who are going to attend to use these siggies too to help us promote the event! ..|

Since gl247 is still using one of the siggies that quasar21 made, I'll utilize one of yours. I chose this one becuase this is similar to the view of downtown from the pool at the Hotel Belmont which is giving us a 15% discount on rooms for our meet that Saturday night! Ask for Lena (aka The Belmont Babe...thanks Stevenavy2003! ;) ) She'll be heating the pool for us! :badgrin:

I'm still working on where we're going to eat. Tex-Mex? Cajun? Somewhere near the bars? Bar food from Hotel Belmont, or take out Italian, Chinese delivered?

Many of ya'll are taking precious vacation/spring break time, and gl247 and I want to make sure that ya'll have a great time, and we want to show some real TEXAS hospitality to our out of state guests!

I looked at the Belmont Hotel site - it looks nice! With the discount we are being offered, the rooms are still around $100/night - is anyone interested in sharing a room? Is everyone staying at the Belmont or is there an acceptable alternative?

Anyone looking for a ride from Louisiana?

I'm weighing all my alternatives, hoping that I might attend.

I want to say that this get together really is centex's effort. He's the one who's pulled this whole thing together especially as it is in his neck of the woods. If anything, I've been here to lend support to my fellow Texan, to be his friend and to be a "welcome mat" for all you guys!

Rooming at the Belmont is not a prerequisite for the weekend. Obviously we want to throw as much business their way as we can. But I'm sure if you do a search with some of the travel sites you can find something within downtown Dallas that will fit the bill. Regardless of where you stay, we just want for you to visit and have fun. :)
 
You guys need to post an agenda and all the confirmed stuff ahead of time. I work in Dallas and would love to get the chance to meet some of you guys. I just need to know times and places. Let me know!
 
Well, that's the end of my spring break, I think, so provided I'm back in town, might be cool to go. Not sure I have the money to stay at the hotel though, so...

Uh, when we scheduled this? No. :eek:

Saturday night is also the Dallas DIFFA Auction, which explains why some of the D/FW guys won't be able to join us until late.

I volunteered for the event one year, and it's quite the affair/fundraiser! :=D:

So as far as Friday night March 17th :shamrock goes we can start out at Hotel Belmont, and then hit the strip later on for some green beer! (UU)

A sad note here... Due to my current financial difficulties I will not be able to attend. I was really looking forward to meeting everyone in person and I know we juggled a lot of dates around trying to work it into a teacher's schedule.

I know you guys will have fun and have great memories. Do me a favor and do a toast for friends not present cause I'll be with you guys in spirit that weekend.

I for one will really miss not having you there Mikey. In fact, I can tell you that I was most looking forward to meeting you because we're such comic book nuts. But, you have to do what you have to do. I guess I'll have to hang on to all those quarters I was saving for our vibrating bed.
