I couldn't agree more.ANother reason i advocate a Peace Corp like mandatory Service for all Americans. Not only would we build goodwill capitol doing those type of jobs but we would attain a incredible worldview.

You can sit next to me at the big table IC07.My responses put me in the 80, huh?

I do remember that advice. And you sound like you need fun right now. This post seems like it was created out of boredom, boredom which you need to fill. If you are bored that you need to looking for trouble, well I can think of more productive uses of your time. Time to have fun, do something stupid, and create trouble (but honestly harmless, but damn fun trouble).Roland00 - everyone needs to get drunk now and then - perhaps ur right about this - but I wrote this only because I get so many questions about the 80 thing - I dig u and remember the great advice u gave me a while back (I hope u remember cause I do)

Quick review of the above finds:

Random - love how u focus on "you need to prove the media shows liberal bias" - love it

It is interesting Alfie that you say these things as you have certainly played a signifigant role in causing the "mindless moon-howling". Your disdain for anyone who does not share your particular beliefs is astounding and usually end in namecalling on your part. You obviously have no interest in discourse or debate.I'm sorry to hear that. A long-time poster, serge_b with the London School of Economics, posted this week that he had had it here, that the debate had degenerated into mindless moon-howlings by the reckless right -- few, but loud, and they generally have nothing much to say except blah blah blah.
Now, there have always been the queer few that post their odd and strange so-called "beliefs" here for all to "enjoy," but they have decided to take over the monkey pavilion, it seems. As this is a public, free forum, I don't know that there is anything at all our moderators could do, even if they were inclined to reel in the real crazy shit. I suspect the site owners would need to feel there is a need to censor these people, and that, too, opens another can of worms.
I share your sense of outrage at the lunacy. It's probably not possible to educate these strange people, and it's unlikely they will seek help. The more one shows scorn for their blatherings -- their weird and surreal yammerings -- the more outrageous and silly they become. TRhey have succeeded here in CE&P -- they have effectively shut down legitimate debate, they have taken a big old fat wingnut shit in our public punchbowl. Of course, this is how they "win," by contaminating discourse and making every forum a freak show for their pathologies.
I miss your posts, but I fear we're stuck with them.
^ Really? My posts are researched, documented, cited. I fact check, I spell check, I grammar check. I even include, from time to time, a modest Photoshopped item or photograph. Contrast that with your "but MOM!" posts, your uncited knee-jerked hair-pulling rants.
Is it unreasonable to hope that one could cite, say, a CBS poll, without getting, "Oh, CBS! Dan Rather!" as if that were sufficient argument to dispute the poll? Or, when progressives discuss climate change and reference Al Gore, the extremists cite... his weight -- his weight, as if that mattered, as if that, too, were a rebuttal! But that is what the extremists on the right do, that is their basis for "debate," and that is why fine posters like serge_b leave this place.
False equivalency. I'm not suggesting or hoping for a reformulation of the Communist World Congress, or a JUB-based progressive Pravda, centex, but isn't it reasonable to hope that both ideological sides can compete with ideas and facts, and not with fake rebuttals, manufactured and distributed by Rush, Sean, Michael Savage, Bill O'Reilly et al?

Now, this isn't simply a JUB problem, this is an American problem, or, more accurately, it is a problem with the extreme: they long ago abandoned facts and instead embraced a mentality of emotional outbursts-as-debate.
Oh another Bush Bashing thread...<yawn>

What we have to understand about "the right" is that there is no core set of beliefs, no basic principles for them to draw from. Their posts contain only the parroted words and phrases they have been programed with and they repeat them mindlessly as if they actually had some meaning. Character assassination is the closest they ever come to an argument.
