I would personally love to hear unedited versions of the average guys opinion. I have the greatest respect for many of the nations I have visited. Most have a Navy that "adopts" the ship for the port visit. this usually includes dinner with a few Sailors from the ship and the host Navy's Sailors and their family. I have sat in Germany, Norway and France arguing politics, having drinks and voicing opinions. It is truly incredible to see and hear what people think and why.

I have missed that as I move up I get more and more MGT positions which is good but bad in the same vein as MGT takes you out of the operational side of the enterprise. In any event, as I said I would love to hear those unadulterated opinions yet I imagine some would lead to incredibly ignorant and childsih response. no offense to felow Jubbers but America is incredibly Isolated from world opinion and becoming more so every day.

ANother reason i advocate a Peace Corp like mandatory Service for all Americans. Not only would we build goodwill capitol doing those type of jobs but we would attain a incredible worldview.

i would estimate that Egypt now considers itself outside the sphere of america and is disinclined to bring shame upon itself by reinitiating any real and meaningfull effort until there is a regime change

that is what the world is whispering about and waiting for

the american regime change

as for greece and all of europe for that matter......

you will all see forces brought to bear on this next ellection that none of you are contemplating

the world is going to try to do something that used to be in americas bag of tricks... non military regime change

they are going to try to influence the ellections coming up in unprecedented ways

america is percieved as militarilly stretched to the point of breaking, politically aimless and isolated to the extreme

in a word

vulnerable

just as the world did with russia, there is a grassroots "thing" happening out there to make sure that america is brought back on track and part of the community of the nations of the world

If you are bored that you need to looking for trouble, well I can think of more productive uses of your time. I'm sorry to hear that. A long-time poster, serge_b with the London School of Economics, posted this week that he had had it here, that the debate had degenerated into mindless moon-howlings by the reckless right -- few, but loud, and they generally have nothing much to say except blah blah blah.

Now, there have always been the queer few that post their odd and strange so-called "beliefs" here for all to "enjoy," but they have decided to take over the monkey pavilion, it seems. As this is a public, free forum, I don't know that there is anything at all our moderators could do, even if they were inclined to reel in the real crazy shit. I suspect the site owners would need to feel there is a need to censor these people, and that, too, opens another can of worms.

I share your sense of outrage at the lunacy. It's probably not possible to educate these strange people, and it's unlikely they will seek help. The more one shows scorn for their blatherings -- their weird and surreal yammerings -- the more outrageous and silly they become. TRhey have succeeded here in CE&P -- they have effectively shut down legitimate debate, they have taken a big old fat wingnut shit in our public punchbowl. Of course, this is how they "win," by contaminating discourse and making every forum a freak show for their pathologies.

I miss your posts, but I fear we're stuck with them.

It is interesting Alfie that you say these things as you have certainly played a signifigant role in causing the "mindless moon-howling". after scouting out the site here for a day after a month long absense i can tell you that CE&P is no longer the war zone of the site

it would seem that hot topics is the new hostile territory of JUB

i dont know if thats because we are all going soft in here or they are all just off their medications out there, but its at least an interesting change

I think that the conservative clan gets out of controll over here sometimes, but i can also say that i am entirely capable of dishing it right back at them as is alfie, so we really just have to all remember at the end of the day that there are worse things that disagreeing about deep rooted political beliefs...

as Hot topics is showing, its actually worse to be nasty and passionate for no good reason... just for the sport... and really i think thats when i get frustrated in this area of JUB... when it seems like people are being arguementative for the fun of it.... cause that aint really fun for me.... exchanging ideas is fun for me

and for the first time, that makes me proud of CE&P... that i can post here and still respect the people i disagree with

I have to disagree with Centex's characterization of some of the posts found in this forum. Alfie's posts generally include a good reasoned argument surrounded by that notorious colorful language. His critics seem to miss the argument and simply express their indignation at the language (as if they have never been called a "nancy" before).

Then there is that other style of open ended, breezy, vacuous posting, styled to be dismissive rather than substantive. How can one respond to something that isn't there, something that is as empty of ideas as it is punctuation.

What we have to understand about "the right" is that there is no core set of beliefs, no basic principles for them to draw from. Their posts contain only the parroted words and phrases they have been programed with and they repeat them mindlessly as if they actually had some meaning. Character assassination is the closest they ever come to an argument.

Alfie is mistaken to expect more, there is no more, not on JUB, The Weekly Standard, or Bill O'Reilly, it is all the same bullshit. There is no "there" there.
