"The Age Of Ann Is Over"

Oh come on folks, have some humor.

Ann Coulter and Michael Savage crack me up.

Of course Ann is the only one actually trying. Michael Savage doesn't even HAVE to try. Why can't democrats be that funny all the time?

(But seriously, even though Savage is a jerk, which is funny, Ann Coulter has a really good sense of humor, whether you agree or disagree with the bitch.)

Ann Coulter does have a good sense of humor.

She's also mean spirited, dishonest and destructive, and as long as it earns her a buck she doesn't care who gets hurt.

If you think that's funny you must be a BushRepublican.

Ann isn't funny. She pisses me off every time she opens her mouth. She intentionally tries to spread hate.

Exactly.

She makes a fortune off of denigrating others, especially the downtrodden and powerless.

How she sleeps at night is beyond me.

What a contrast. Of course, Coulter has a great sense of humor. Few on this board seem to.

This is rich

silence the right wing bitch

good one

I think libs love having her around as a punching bag

she like many have many smart and interesting things to say - most of the time

but they can't help themselves sometimes and say things that are outrageous

but to censor her?

I guess some of these conservatives think she hurts more than she helps

perhaps

How is she being censored? So there's a chance she might lose one of her outlets to spew her trash. How is that censorship? She has other platforms. She has her own website, for fuck's sake. My understanding of censorship is some official or similar authority suppressing material because it's considered offensive or whatnot. (I just checked the definition.) It seems to me that you're playing fast and loose with the the word.

And what has she ever said that's smart or interesting? She'll say anything to get attention. She doesn't contribute to any kind of serious debate. She is, as she has herself admitted, a school-yard bully.

By the way, who else say her interview when she attempted to prove, risibly, that the word faggot has nothing to do with sexuality? Hence there was nothing that a gay man should find offensive in her use of it. (It's just a school-yard taunt, says the "smart and interesting" Coulter). Then she added that when Issiah Wahington called his gay co-worker a faggot, well, he was using the word incorrectly.

It was kind of amusing for a few minutes watching her squirm.

Only in Coulter's pretzel logic world (which Chance 1 finds "smart and interesting") does the word faggot have nothing to do with gay men.

Well, it is a schoolyard taunt, and on the schoolyard it doesn't always refer to a gay man. I noticed last summer that a lot of people up the river used it no differently than they would "idiot", "loser", "dumb" -- one guy even called his dog a faggot when the dog wouldn't obey.
But when another pejorative is combined with it, "faggot" ALWAYS means gay, and it isn't a pretty appellation. "You fucking faggot" calls someone gay, "Stupid faggot" might, "lousy faggot" certainly does, "Tell that faggot she can...." (yes, I heard it used of a female) doesn't mean gay, "Faggot perv!" does, "Sicko faggot" -- well, the point is made; in rough-and-tumble society -- including schoolyards -- the word by itself is often enough not connected with being gay (nor, for that matter, is the word "gay").

The response I would have made to Coulter when she tried to defend herself by calling it a "schoolyard taunt" would have been:

"So, Ms. Coulter, are you saying that politics is a juvenile place, like a schoolyard -- and that you were taunting John Edwards like you were both children?"

You used the word "risibly."

I think I'm in love.

Otterjoq: the next time I'm in Minnesota.

Well, I was going to call Coulter's response laughable but I'd had a couple glasses of wine and I couldn't remember if it was 'able' or 'ible' so I went with risibly instead.

And, Kulindahr, you're right. Coulter's schoolyard-taunt "defense" is hardly adequate. Her idea of political debate is just namecalling. It's childish.

I wouldn't call most of what she does name-calling. She just applies arguments which while are to a certain degree parallel leave most people who aren't getting upset with her going, "Huh????" Yes, she does name-calling -- rather nastily -- and that was the point I was trying to make early on in this thread, that so many here read about what she did and answered to on her level, nothing but name calling.

And she sometimes uses arguments which -- like this one -- while defending her position in one way just lead her into an alley that not only is a dead end but gets narrower with every move she makes. In a way she's like a swordsman who if you don't really pay attention seems to be mounting an excellent defense, but when you step back and get perspective is just continually retreating from one poorly defensible position to another... that's even worse. It's only a matter of time before there's nowhere left to retreat, and then its Game Over!
But she lacks the finesse to be a swordsman -- or a real debater.

It's like any True Believer -- they have words that to their tribe are horrid and nasty, but other people are proud of... and lots of people go "Huh???"

The same way most politicians do -- secure in her own self-righteousness. A lot of people on the Left who post here do the same.

Who here do you think "makes a fortune off denigrating others, especially the downtrodden and powerless"?

It's true that many of the BushRepublicans posting here are often dishonest, though I think much more often they're only foolishly repeating nonsense that professionally dishonest people like Ann Coulter put out there. But posting opinions in a political thread on a gay porn forum is not remotely the same as using one's ambition and powerful personality to make a career of spreading lies and hate and divisiveness and destruction through books, columns, public speaking and radio and TV.

Nothing anybody does here is remotely "so much like Ann."
