alas, the NY Post was sold out as i grabbed for the paper this afternoon

so instead .............. the NY Daily News

good column by Charles K

it suggests that BO is all about ............ BO

that his idea to give a speech at Brandenburg Gate was pretty ........ pompous - that he is undeserving

that his 3 yr senate experience has been uneventful or make that w/o substance

almost as if he talks about himself in the 3rd person

check it out

Barack Obama's ego deflates him

Thursday, July 17th 2008, 6:34 PM
Barack Obama wants to speak at the Brandenburg Gate. He figures it would be a nice backdrop. The supporting cast - a cheering audience and a few fainting frauleins - would be a picturesque way to bolster his foreign policy credentials.
What Obama does not seem to understand is that the Brandenburg Gate is something you earn. President Ronald Reagan earned the right to speak there because his relentless pressure had brought the Soviet empire to its knees and he was demanding its final "tear down this wall" liquidation. When President John F. Kennedy visited the Brandenburg Gate on the day of his "Ich bin ein Berliner" speech, he was representing a country that was prepared to go to the brink of nuclear war to defend West Berlin.
Who is Obama representing? And what exactly has he done in his lifetime to merit appropriating the Brandenburg Gate as a campaign prop? What was his role in the fight against communism, the liberation of Eastern Europe, the creation of what George Bush 41 - who presided over the fall of the Berlin Wall but modestly declined to go there for a victory lap - called "a Europe whole and free"?
Does Obama not see the incongruity? It's as if a German pol took a campaign trip to America and demanded the Statue of Liberty as a venue for a campaign speech. (The Germans have now gently nudged Obama into looking at other venues.)
Americans are beginning to notice Obama's elevated opinion of himself. There's nothing new about narcissism in politics. Every senator looks in the mirror and sees a President. Nonetheless, has there ever been a presidential nominee with a wider gap between his estimation of himself and the sum total of his lifetime achievements?

LOL that's written by the same guy that appears on Fox News week after week as a "political commentator"; he is pretty much infatuated with McCain and rarely has nice things to say about Obama...so no surprise there.

^^ More to the point you would never know from reading his column that Bill Clinton spoke at the Brandenburg gate.

I suppose it just don't fit with the story he wants you to believe. :p

Some context here...

New York Post is owned by Rupert Murdoch the owner of Faux News.

Enough said.

That fact took the air out of this article!

What's called "assertiveness" in male employees...is called "bitchiness" in female ones.

What's called "accessibility" in hot guys...is called "sluttiness" in ugly ones.

What's called "confidence" in the candidate you prefer...is called "ego" in the one you don't.

Partypooper!! We coulda had some fun with this one.

*goes back to Fun & Games*

guess u didn't really read the post or the thread for that matter Lost

it's the daily news not the post

not like u to miss that shit lost - usually u give it a good red - disappointing ;)

and as for marley - who has NO cred because he says BO is not a good public speaker - which is quite in fact HIS ONLY claim to fame (BO's that is)

and as for fun & games .......... the posters r much nicer than the drek that make up the 85 ;)

And what's called "The Chosen One" about one candidate, is ironic considering the other refers to the media as 'his base'. Chance's threads against the very man for whom he voted in the primary are a farce. It's best not to take them serious. Let's all quit feeding trollish behavior and not give hypocritical and poor threads attention it doesn't deserve.

Thanks for the post, G-Lex.

IC - the next time anyone follows ur lead ................. will be the first time - ur not a "leading man"

as for my vote for Obama, it was a long time ago - and at the time i felt he was the better of the 2 (hills and him) - he is not the guy he pretended to be - he is not anyone right now - he's morphing daily - not sure who he will be as pres - and that's damn scary

see that's called listening and reacting - that's what i do - if u have a problem with that - that's YOUR problem

and since he is clearly not the same guy - he is not getting my support

and as usual u don't address the author's points - rather shoot the messenger

and as for "trollish" - u own trollish bro

so do everyone a favor and crawl back under ur rock why dontcha ;)

its nice and creepy under there - so u will fit right in

Exactly...

Ditto.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I will have to show this article to my brother a psychiatrist. The author is a psychiatrist too and according to my brother psychiatrists are democrats. Not so!

My argument still stands. The Daily News is owned by Mortimer Zuckerman. A conservative commentator that is pro-Israel. Obama isn't pro-Israel enough so he has his trolls writing about Obama.

He's torn from the same cloth as that bitch Lieberman. You know... protect Israel's interest at all costs, even our's. Add Ed Koch to that traitor list too.

Still stands... New York Daily News is conservative too.

By the way, the article was hard on my eyes. It was so choppy and broken up. Wasn't easy to read.

… he says BO is not a good public speaker –

I also think TCO is not a good [extemporaneous] public speaker – but he’s improving.

I will have to show this article to my brother a psychiatrist …

He might also be interested in Briggs' analysis of TD. Persons engaged in positions of leadership generally benefit from a solid sense of self-confidence – or what may also be regarded as a healthy ego.

Evidence is that in the case of George W. Bush [The Decider], deep feelings of inadequacy and powerful defensive behaviors employed to submerge them and cover them up cripple the decision-making process he needs for his duties as president. [Link]

sorry about the cut/paste - it was only 2 weeks ago i learned how to do it at all ;) - so give me time - it'll get better

but ur "i stand by my ..........." is baaaaaaaaaaad [-X

The Israelis might be our BEST allies - if not, top 5 - like a college FB poll ;)

seriously, if im in a fox hole i want the israelis with me

and ur argument cannot stand lost - cuz ur facts were BAD

come on lost - gotta be humble - not like THE CHOSEN ONE

well - then ur cred is blown as well my friend

BLOWN

did i mention BLOWN? ;)

his entire campaign is about rallies, with oprah, with michelle, 50,000 strong, etc etc

change change change change ...............

reaching out

reaching into their souls

transforming young people from inactive to active

his whole communication thingy ................ IS IT

so u and marley might agree on this - but ur WAY OFF

Thanks for the links. I have talked to my brother hours about politics and it's always interesting when he talks about psychiatry and politics.

Jerald Post, MD and CIA's psychiatrist/analyst predicted that Saddam would never hold WMD's because having them would be a threat to his leadership. Post believed Saddam had Naracisstic Personality Disorder and thus saw himself as the savior of Iraq. I found Post's comments all the more true when we found out Iraq didn't have WMDs and after his capture it was reported that Saddam was still trying to make a deal with his interrogators that he could quell the insurgency in Iraq if he was allowed to resume his control over Iraq as leader. That's narcissism.

Hugo Chavez is another one that displays NPD. They have said the same of Bush. If you read that link, one of the characteristics is that they can't handle criticism. Do you see how much animosity Chavez has for Uribe of Columbia? Or Bush?

It's funny watching Anderson Cooper or The O'Reilly Show and him calling a politican or panelist "nuts" especially since it's an MD talking, not the average Joe. You can only imagine some of the things he was saying last night when Geraldine Ferraro was on Hannity and Colmes talking about Michelle Obama.

What has Israel done for us?

We're doing it all for Israel.

I want a more balanced approach to the mid-east peace process or no approach at all.

I'd really prefer Germany to solve the issue as they created the Israeli-Palestinian problem.

What we're seeing today is a second apartheid.

We look back, well some look back, on our support of the apartheid government as a major error. Do you know we barely took Nelson Mandela's name off our terrorist list THIS WEEK?

I see so many similarities between the two events. And once again, by supporting the stronger minority (Afrikaners in South Africa and Jews in the middle east), we're on the wrong side!

Did you know Cheney thought Mandela should have been locked up right before he won the presidency of South Africa?

This is cute. A simplistic assessment of any candidate's campaign would make it sound trivial. Since I'm assuming you've payed attention to his campaign, I won't remind of you of some of the key points he's made that you left out.

We're way off, Obama's an egotistical tyrant, you realize that saying things about people doesn't make them true, right?

Hold on, lemme try;

Mario Lopez is my husband.............

Geez, I wrote it but that didn't make it true.:(

DUDE

BO'S oratorical gifts are WELL KNOWN

ur the only one (and op) who don't seem to know it

his message beat Hills - period - his gift for gab - his ability to "reach" people - motivate them

what do u attribute it (his success) to?

his ideas? his experience ?

u gotta be kidding

i ask that lost, naked, any of the other obama sniffers to chime in here

im sure they won't ;)

but if they spoke their mind - or at least retyped stuff they've posted before ............

ud be shit outa luck marley ;)

egotistical yes

tyrant? i wouldn't say that

maybe chuckie did

can't be 100% u know

it's an op ed piece bro

and u thought it was from the ny post

sooooooooooooooooooo

Just a couple of points. Krauthammer wrote the piece for the Washington Post....at least thats the byline its under at the realclearpolitics website.

I believe the Daily News picked it up from them.

Second, chance you'll never be able to understand why Obama beat Mrs. Clinton or why he beats McCain, if he does, until you try to understand that no matter how much you support the war and no matter how necessary you believed it to be the vast majority of the country does not agree with it or you.

Someday even you will probably come to see what a foolish mistake it was (probably when the bill, currently at $2600 per american, comes due and that doesn't even count the accompanying run up in oil prices) and no matter how often you or McCain scream 'the surge is working the surge is a success' most people know being right on that does not make up for being totally wrong on going to war in the first place.

McCain is stuck with his votes and positions on this issue....whats your excuse?

being "against" the war and knowing what to do about it ............. are 2 diff things

THE CHOSEN ONE's dissing of the surge - and non support of it

His flip flopping on withdrawal

His multiple stances on what to do now ........

are troubling

I prefer my leaders to have a little more THERE THERE

call me crazy

so yeah - BO captured the right issue to base his campaign on BS on

but ..............

his ability to "stump" was the ticket

and continues to be

although i think people r getting wise to his BS

maybe

can't go backwards gent

u just can't

only thing to do now is to make the best of it - like with anything

those who can't do that ...................... get stuck

heading to the beach

cya

Not sure as to what this refers...

No, YOUR problem is you are a McCain-fanatic, perhaps even a Republican-fanatic as far as post history goes, and you always resort, ALWAYS, to defending whoever the Republican is. ALWAYS. Without fail. Dubya a rare exception. Like dodo rare. You claim to be a Democrat, but I've not seen you once be as consistently for that party as you are for the Republican. Ever. All you are doing is following whatever fodder is given to you to justify your non-remotely-a-surprise switch to the McCain camp. I'd not be surprised if you'd have done the same if Romney got it, or Hitler. Or whoever.

Ah, but the so-called 'messenger' has been doing this "The Chosen One" thing for so long, which is trollish, and that is with what I have issue. So, you're depiction of me is wrong. And just like your kneejerk Republicanism, typical.

1) think harder ;) i trust u will get it

2) supporting jmac is NOT a problem

ur BS about post history is .............. BS - im a moderate - on JUB that means right winger - whatever

and as for ur take on my position - or my change of support - who gives a shit

it's called the electoral process - we see these jokers on the trail and we develop how we feel

ur problem with that is ........................ confusing but makes sense also ;)

hope u get that one

i think obama is way over his skis - do u get that one? ;)

for a self promoted smart guy ...................

never mind

u keep posting ur this/that - and u can bet u will see more threads on obama

cuz he's BSing in a very large way these days

can't wait for his vacation to Iraq

im sure they will search for soldiers to pose with him

3) so strap it in IC

and get used to it

sorry to be such a "troll"
