While it's sad that her career has reached a low point (which doesn't mean that it's over - La Carey came back from that Glitter disaster and Whitney Houston exploded back into the mainstream thanks to 'The Bodyguard', even though everyone thought that she was forgotten), it's also true that she only has herself to blame.
First of all, she seems to think that her voice is the best and most unique of her generation, which is far from true. She has an extremely limited belting range and horrible technique, which has made her live singing an unbearable collection of choked bellows and agonized yelps. Instead of going about the world behaving as if she were above hard work, she should dedicate a couple of years to studying and properly developing and her instrument, and then come back being able to properly sing in the lower and mid-upper ranges, which she definitely cannot (and could never) do.
Second, her material has been sub-standard for years. 'Back to Basics' was extremely uneven, 'Bionic' was a mess and 'Lotus' has dated and mostly unmemorable material. Maybe working with actually talented songwriters and producers would improve her chances of selling records and filling venues again, because she would actually be delivering good quality material. Maybe running back to Linda Perry is in order for her. As things stand right now, she will be a nostalgia act before she reaches the age of 35.
I really like her tone, but she appears to be lost and needs to stop thinking that everything she does is amazing for the sole fact of being sung by her. Also, she needs to start promoting the very few decent songs she's released so far... However, I have noticed that people seem to be a bit tired of her, which is surprising, since she only releases an album every three or four years, in average. Anyway, good luck to her! She definitely needs it.
The red carpet correspondents were saying (before the show) that she was a little under the weather but was going to perform anyways. Some fans tend to say (with no proof whatsoever) that she's sick when they feel she didn't live up to their standards. I don't think she was sick and I think she sounded amazing.
Um no. When she puts out the right thing she gets the airplay in no time.^thats because radio is shady as fuck towards christina.
I wasn't the only one, because the song didn't chart strongly.um no they are actually shady as fuck.
go on any forum that tracks radio airplay.
Just because you thought Your Body was a "terrible first song" doesnt mean anything. Her album may have gotten mixed reviews but Your Body didnt. Reviews for Your Body were overwhelmingly positive.
Adele & Kelly ClarksonI guess my next question would be who on radio has vocals like Christina and gets massive airplay?
Maybe radio and most listeners just don't dig Christina's amazing powerhouse vocals anymore? I just don't know. I wish I knew why she can't get radio play. It really is confusing.
This!Sad thing is Christina's in a mess of a period right now...so much talent but seems like either her or more likely her studio people want her to reinvent and get current. She's 35 or so, not a kid anymore. She has an amazing voice but she's got to trust herself more and the studio people less. I loved her retro style a few years back, with "Ain't No Other Man" and "Candyman" but it's been such a long time from her last really great effort, "Stripped".
