The Coming of Josh
Greetings, Gents. I finally finished up Chapter 777. Motivation has returned and I'm feeling it again. Still looking for a decent place to stop then spring ahead. I'll keep working at it. In the meantime we'll keep moving along. Most of Chapter 777 involves hospital visits to see Lucky. Josh meet Kenny in person for the first time also with Clay. It's a lighter chapter like the previous one. I swear 775 took everything out of me for a bit, but things are coming back together again.

Interesting you remembered Butch, HF. He was supposed to show up to help the boys and I was too intensely occupied on the other characters to deal with another one so I kind of did him in. Maybe we'll deal with him later sometime.

Chapter 777 – Taking Care of Lucky

Lucky and I slowly walked down the hall with his left arm over my shoulder, his right arm in a sling. I had my right hand around his waist and occasionally copped a feel of a bare, somewhat lightly haired, ass cheek as I sneaked my hand in between the opening in the back of his gown.

“Hey that works perfectly if you’re okay with it. He won’t be able to stand it anyway not being with you, so if he’s cool with waiting on you, then that solves the problem. Just don’t fuck him too soon. Let him get used to you a little more first,” I teased, making Lucky laugh, only he said it hurt when he laughed.

“I think I was scared shitless at the time, so I don’t really remember much about the way it felt. “Gees, I guess we both have had somewhat traumatic experiences lately, but at least yours involved a dick up your ass as opposed to a couple of bullets through your shoulder,” Lucky commented. Rowen reappeared, having come from getting a bite to eat. “I see you two are walking okay and not flashing the entire floor,” Rowen chided. Lucky and I chuckled.

“I’ll come over after dinner and stay with him again while you get something to eat. I’ll spell you some,” I told him. Rowen smiled.

“So, I’ve known your buddy for some time. We go back a little. And I recently met Rowen since his unfortunate experience along with Josh he recently had. Now then, there is you. You guys have anyone else that’s going to require some help that’s involved with all that you guys seemed to get involved with?” Doc asked.

“Well there’s Kenny, but I’m not sure if he’s able to talk much as he was hurt pretty bad. We don’t know him other than to know who he is, but Clay, the Live 5 News reporter, is a good friend of his and ours, so that’s how we’re connected,” I explained.

“Well good. I just wanted to stop by and talk to you a few minutes about what happened to you, Lucky. These instances, while unfortunate, they do happen and sometimes it helps to talk to someone about what you went through and explore some of the emotions you felt as a result of what you experienced. I’m currently working with Josh and Rowen on what they went through, and from what I’m hearing all this is tied together somehow. Once you get released, I’d be happy to schedule some appointments so we can analyze what you might be feeling and help you to release any anxiety you might be feeling as a result of your actions and injuries. You need to know that you were doing your best to serve our community and were injured in the process. There is no blame on your part at all. You were a victim trying to uphold the laws of our community and keep the public safe. In many ways you are considered to be a hero. We are all grateful for your service, but right now you’re hurting and we have to get you healed. Just know that I’m here if you need to talk to anyone about what happened and explore the whys involved. I’m here to help you in any way I can, just so you know,” Doc told Lucky.

“Thanks, Doc. Josh said you were a great friend. I appreciate that coming from him. I think I’ll be fine. I have no guilt or animosity pent up over what took place. That I’m sure of. I have no regrets to speak of. I think I’m fine other than I’m injured. I don’t blame anyone but myself, getting hurt in the line of duty. I did my job and was successful in the process. I think I’m good, but if I need to talk to anyone other than Josh or my partner, Rowen, I’ll let you know and you can tell me how fucked up I am,” Lucky replied. Doc grimaced.

“Lucky, you are far from being fucked up, believe me. You seem perfectly normal, but that sometimes changes over time when you’ve had more time to think about what you’ve experienced. Just know you are not alone and I’m here for you,” Doc told him. Lucky thanked him for that.

“So all the things that bothered us are now resolved, Doc. The guy that traumatized Rowen and I is dead and the one that shot Lucky is deceased also. I think we’re on the backside of all this craziness now. Do you still want to delve into our psyche or do you think we’re healthy enough to discharge?” I asked him.

“Oh, Josh, I think I could spend a year with you and never get to the bottom of what makes you tick. However, you seem to handle crisis situations better than anyone I know. It’s Rowen over there I’m not sure of because I haven’t had that much time to spend with him since your event. Yes, I’m sure this whole situation that brought about your trauma is over, but I’d still like to spend a little more time with the two of you just to make sure you’re mentally healthy. Besides, I love seeing you and talking to you anyway,” Doc replied.
 
Chapter 777 - B

“And I like spending time and talking to you also. I’d love to spend some time naked with you, which would be much more fun and therapeutic I have to believe,” I replied. Doc shook his head.

“Is he always like this, Lucky?” Doc asked him. Lucky chuckled.

“Pretty much ever since I’ve known him. He saved my life in a couple of different ways, so I have to say, I love him with all my heart. You couldn’t have a better friend than Josh, Doc. They just don’t come any better than that,” Lucky told him. Rowen said that was the honest to God’s truth.

“Well, that’s a hell of a testimonial for Josh anyway. I have to say I have a very high regard for his friendship also. True friendship is a solid foundation for strong lasting relationships. You have a great share group to say the least, Lucky. The support you have from Josh and Rowen will take you a long way, but if you ever need another opinion or are concerned about anything, I’m here at your service and eager to help any way I can. Josh knows that, and I’m sure he’d encourage it. Just know that I care and am willing to help,” Doc told him.

“Doc is great in so many ways, Lucky. He’s helped me and some of my friends in the past. Not only that but he’s hot to look at and has a hot boyfriend, Henry also, so feel free to bug him if you should start to feel strange or weird as he does care about us,” I told Lucky. Doc rolled his eyes.

“I have to love Josh for many reasons but the main thing is I do care about your mental health as much as your physical health, so by all means take advantage of my offer to help any time,” Doc told Lucky. “So I’ll catch you boys on Monday and don’t be late,” he told Rowen and me. “Lucky, I’ll check in on you tomorrow sometime to see how you’re doing. I need to see this Kenny guy also, Josh, but I’m told he’s still in ICU so I’ll wait until they move him to a regular room first and he feels more like talking,” Doc told me.
“Don’t be afraid to call me anytime day or night if you need me. You know I’m here for you,” he said as he shook Lucky’s left hand and then Rowen, but he had to hug me as I wouldn’t shake his hand. “I keep forgetting you have to be hugged, but it is kind of nice,” Doc told me with a smile. I patted him on his ass as he took off. He looked back at me and smiled.

“Did you just pat his ass?” Lucky asked me. I chuckled.

“I always do. He wouldn’t think I loved him if I didn’t. He is a great guy, and like I said, his boyfriend Henry is hot also and the bank president of Uni State Bank where SE does all Its banking. Doc is very reserved, but Henry can be a lot of fun,” I commented, making Lucky chuckle.

Just then Hunter walked into the room after talking to Doc in the hallway. Of course I had to hug him also, making him smile. “Gees, all the docs are getting hugged by Josh today. He’s such a hugger,” Hunter exclaimed. “So how we feeling this afternoon, Lucky?” he asked as he went over and looked at his chart attached to the foot of his bed.

“Feeling much better after you dug the one bullet out of my shoulder blade and fixed the through and through hole. A little sore, but the meds you have me on are fantastic, I have to say. I’ve been walking with Rowen and Josh today so I’m getting my exercise you wanted me to have. Rowen even massaged my right arm muscles to keep them from atrophying. “Excellent, Lucky. Keep that up and you’ll be out of here in no time. I have to ask if you have anyone that can take care of you at home once I release you from the hospital,” Doc asked. Lucky smiled.

“Rowen, my intern partner, has volunteered to help me at home when you decide to release me. So, yes, I have help. I’m sure Josh will be around also to pester me. I should be good between the two of them and possibly more,” Lucky replied, making Hunter smile.

“I can’t see, if you continue like you have been, why we can’t release you in a couple of days. You don’t show any signs of infection and you’ve been up and walking today a couple of times. If you didn’t experience any signs of dizziness when you walked or light headedness then you’re doing great. You seem to be in good physical shape also which is a huge help in healing. With the proper care and help you should be able to make a fairly quick recovery. Rowen, if you’re going to be the primary care giver, we’ll go over the steps you need to take when you get him home. That won’t be for at least a couple of days or more. All his vitals are good and he’s progressing well so things are looking very positive,” Hunter told the three of us.

“Hey, that’s great news, Lucky. You could always stay with us at the apartment as Rowen has extra room in his bedroom, or he could take care of you at your own house, whichever you like,” I suggested.

“My own house would be better so I’m not in your way, Josh. How soon can I drink beer again, Doc?” Lucky asked. “You know medicine’s fine, but liquor is quicker, from what Josh tells me,” Lucky commented.

“Well, I’d like you to be mostly off any medication before you start drinking alcohol, but one beer a night might not be terrible by the time you get released as your medication will be greatly reduced by then. But if you start bleeding at your wounds or suffer any pain, then stop drinking any kind of alcohol immediately,” Hunter told him. Lucky agreed to his terms. “Not to change the subject, but Clay is on his way over here, Josh. He wants to see Kenny. I just came from Kenny and he’s currently awake. It would be good for him to see Clay. That might cheer him up some. Clay requested that you be with him when he visits Kenny. He wants to introduce you to Kenny and tell Kenny what you have done for him. All that should help make him feel better. I’ll give you a call when he gets here, then I’ll take the two of you to ICU to visit with him. He’s doing much better today and is fairly alert although he’s still heavily medicated, so don’t expect to see another Lucky like this one,” he chided, pinching one of Lucky’s toes.

“Oh, doc, that felt sexy. You can pinch something else if you want,” Lucky chided. Doc rolled his eyes, saying he had plenty of company for that. Hunter told Lucky he was just checking his reflexes and they seemed good. “Pinch my dick and you’ll really see how my reflexes work,” Lucky chided.

“Okay, he’s doing much better today, even ahead of where he should be with the injuries he’s endured,” Hunter said with a huge smile. We all seemed to feel the same way.

Doc got a page that Clay was here and wanted to see him. I told Rowen and Lucky I’d be back as I left with Hunter to meet Clay. “Your buddy Lucky is quite the character,” Hunter told me. I told him he had no idea. “But the fact he’s joking around is good. He’s healing nicely. I can’t emphasize enough, Josh, that he’s going to need care once he’s home. He’ll have a difficult time, more like awkward time, getting around for a while, especially bathing, using the bathroom and eating. He’ll definitely need some help. Is Rowen prepared for what all he’ll have to do? If not, there are services I can recommend to help out in his situation,” Hunter offered.

“Believe me when I say Rowen is prepared and looking forward to the task. He practically worships his mentor. To Rowen, this will be a labor of love I’m pretty sure. If he gets tired, there are others of us that can help out. We’ll make sure he’s cared for,” I assured Hunter.

“The main thing is not to reinjure himself, so he’ll need to be careful not to do anything stressful. Simple things such as reaching for something, stepping down stairs the wrong way, sitting down on the toilet, getting in and out of the shower, actions we normally take for granted and never even think about. Those are the ones you have to be careful with,” Hunter warned.

“What about sex? Is he able to have sex?” I asked to a surprised face. Hunter gave me a grin.

“Well, that depends. What were you thinking of in that regard?” Hunter asked.

Hunter used his access card to get us into the ICU. There were a lot of sick people in there. It was semi-dark and very quiet. We passed several little alcoves where patients were hooked up to all kinds of tubes and electronic monitoring devices. They were all in view of a central nurses’ station where their stats were being monitored. Clay took us into see Kenny where we had been the night before. A nurse was talking to him. It was great to see he was awake and able to communicate. His eyes lit up when he saw Clay. The nurse left us, telling us he was doing much better today. Clay went over and kissed Kenny on the lips. Kenny teared up as he did.

“Hey, buddy. Doc tells me you’re doing much better today. I’m sure you don’t remember much about yesterday, but each day is going to get better for you,” Clay said as he squeezed Kenny’s hand. Kenny wiped the tears from his eyes with his other hand.

“Guess I kind of got in the line of fire,” Kenny almost whispered, still very weak from his injuries. Clay told him he did indeed, but he was a hero saving Lucky’s life. “I knew he was a gonner if I kept running so I ran behind him. Guess I’m lucky to have saved Lucky. He seemed like a great guy,” Kenny said quietly and slowly.

“Oh, he’s the best, Kenny. He was there for you also. Not many guys would have volunteered for that assignment and he stepped right up and volunteered. He’s been part of a team of guys that I’ve worked with to bring all this crap to an end and get you free of it. I want to introduce you to Josh here also, Kenny. Josh is the greatest friend in the world a person could have, and he’s my best friend ever. He’s done a tremendous job behind the scenes helping me help you,” Clay told him as Kenny looked me in the eyes. I reached over and squeezed Kenny’s hand that Clay had been holding.

“Pleased to meet you, Kenny. I feel like I’ve known you for some time working with Clay on your problem. We’re all working to get you well first then to get you free of all of this. You’ll be pleased to know that you haven’t been charged with anything at the moment, and we’re working hard to make sure you aren’t. We’ve hired the best defense attorney money can buy to represent you if you should ever be charged with anything, but we’re hoping your testimony and all the evidence you provided law enforcement, plus your heroic act of saving Lucky’s life will keep you free or at worst get you probation with no jail time. At any rate, you don’t have to worry about that for now. You just have to concentrate on getting better,” I assured him.

“Oh, Josh, I can’t tell you how wonderful that sounds. I really want to help in the worst way, and will do anything to help prosecute all those assholes. I know so much about their operations and am willing to share all of it with law enforcement. That Cal guy was kind of scary, but even he was decent to me. Did we get the journal and is it safe?” Kenny asked very slowly and quietly. I told him we had it thanks to him. It might have a little blood on it, but we had it and there were several certified copies made just in case someone wanted to make it disappear. Kenny seemed extremely relieved to hear that. He still seemed very weak at the moment. Hunter suggested we give him some rest.

“I’ll be back to check on you this evening, Kenny. In the meantime just rest and work on healing. We’ve got you covered. You have nothing to be concerned about now other than getting better. Josh and I are taking care of the rest. We’ll be by to see you regularly when you get into a regular room and out of ICU. Doc says that might be tomorrow if you keep progressing like you have been. Just rest and sleep as much as you can. When you get into a regular room, I’ll be by to walk you up and down the hall to get your juices flowing again and to show off that cute ass you have to everyone,” Clay told him, making him smile. Clay leaned down and gave him another semi-passionate kiss making him tear up again. I squeezed his hand again reminding him he had nothing to worry about other than getting well. Everything else was being handled. Kenny whispered ‘thank you’.

The three of us departed his room. Hunter stopped at the nurses station to review his charts. “He’s doing very well. He’s young and in good shape so he’ll heal faster than others with similar conditions,” Hunter assured us. Clay asked Hunter if he was serious about moving Kenny to a regular room in the surgical wing tomorrow. “Looking at his prognosis now, I think it would be safe to move him,” Hunter replied. “I know they want security on him so I’ll get hold of our security team to see what they want to do to provide security for him. We don’t want anything to happen to your star witness,” Hunter replied. Both Clay and I agreed.

I gave Hunter a big hug, thanking him for all his help. He told me it was his privilege to help. Clay gave him a bro-hug, thanking him also. We left him and went back downstairs to rejoin Lucky. Lucky and Rowen were shooting the shit when we rejoined them.

“So what is all the ruckus going on in here?” I had to ask, as Clay went over and squeezed Lucky’s hand asking him how he was feeling.

“I was trying to set Rowen up with the nurse that came in here. I think she was flirting with him. She wasn’t all that bad,” Lucky chided, then told Clay he was feeling much better but he’d been told the pain medication he was taking would make him feel wonderful so he said he really couldn’t tell.

“So did you flirt back with the nurse, Rowen?” I asked. He chuckled, looking somewhat embarrassed. Rowen said the nurse wasn’t interested, it was just Lucky that wanted her to be. Lucky shook his head.

“Hey, she didn’t look any worse than the majority of girls I took home for one-night stands. You don’t have to marry her, Rowen, just fuck her,” Lucky chided. Rowen shook his head.

“I have you to take care of for some time now, so how could I date that girl while trying to take care of you?” Rowen asked. Lucky rolled his eyes.

“Hey I can survive for the time it would take you to do the deed. I mean, I had to watch you take care of Trudy that one night and it sure as hell didn’t take you all that long to blow your load if I remember,” Lucky replied. “Me, you want to interview me?” Lucky asked somewhat surprised. Clay told him he was starting to do more stories on the aftermath of the big bust.

I think it would be a great way for the community to see who all gives everything they have to protect the citizens of Uni. So, if you’re up to it, I can ask you a few questions and you can give us just a little insight into what you were doing, trying to help someone that was supplying crucial evidence in the case to keep the perpetrators from destroying evidence,” Clay explained.

“You want me interviewed for TV in just this hospital gown? I mean isn’t that a little cheesy? Lucky asked. Clay said he wanted to interview him in his gown in the hospital bed so people realized the extent of his injuries. “What about Kenny? Are you going to interview him also as he was the one that did the heroics trying to save my life which he did. I have to say I’m extremely grateful to him also,” Lucky commented.

“I’m kind of leaving Kenny out of most of it. You can refer to a private citizen that helped in the investigation and in the operation to secure evidence, but don’t name him by name. We’re trying to keep him on the down-low for the time being as we’re working to keep him out of jail if we can help it. I don’t think it will help our case any if we expose him for who he really was before he started helping us. I don’t really want to go into all of that until we see where we are legally. “So we had some of the arraignments this morning and afternoon. So far it’s a full remand on all of them. They both looked pretty defeated in front of the judge. They did plead not guilty. The judge accepted their plea but then laughed at them. The judge was really pissed. He did say after reviewing the pictures that Spence and Simon had provided law enforcement and the court, he was delighted to sign the arrest warrants for both of them. He suggested the wives not attend their trials when they came up. That was the highlight of my morning I have to say,” Conner explained. I had to agree wholeheartedly.

Right now I’m giving him kind of an overall body massage to keep all his muscle groups in good working order and to get rid of the stiffness from laying in bed these last few days. We need to get him up and walking more today. Rowen, I guess you’ve been walking him the last couple of days which is great. Josh, I guess you did too. Let’s do more of that today. I was able to stand him in the shower this morning and bath him that way. He was able to stand up the whole time I washed him so that’s a major improvement. Felt good to get a regular shower, didn’t it, Lucky?” Cooper asked him.

“Especially the showers you give, Cooper. I’ll never complain,” Lucky said chuckling as if there was more to the story he wasn’t telling us. Rowen looked suspicious and concerned. I just chuckled thinking Lucky might have had a good time taking advantage of Cooper’s services.

“Well your friends are here, and I’m sure you guys want to visit so I’ll slip some loose boxers on you for today. If you guys want to bring him some of his own underwear and pajamas or even sweat pants, something loose for him to wear, we can make him start feeling normal again instead of theses stupid hospital gowns that show off his hot ass to the world,” Cooper commented with a huge smile getting a big grin from Lucky. Cooper had Lucky stand on his feet and hold his towel in one hand, as he steadied him and slipped one leg through some loose boxers then the other, then Cooper pulled up his boxers over his junk and ass. Cooper took the towel. “There, at least the important parts are covered now, not that you aren’t proud to show those off,” Cooper chuckled, making Lucky laugh.

“You are so complimentary, Cooper. But thank you anyway,” Lucky replied to a huge smile. For a moment I thought Lucky was going to kiss him, but he restrained himself. I doubt if it would have bothered Cooper one little bit as he almost seemed to welcome it. Had I been Lucky, I think I might have kissed Cooper.

“Now because of your arm sling, we have a top for you that we can tie in the back so you don’t have to contort your right arm to get it on and off. Guys, if you want to watch, I’ll show you how this works,” Cooper said as he slipped it under his right arm then put his left arm through the arm hole, tying it in the back like his gown had been tied before. This was a much better looking top, I will say. He looked more dressed and a lot more comfortable. Cooper then helped Lucky into an easy chair in his room where he could elevate his legs if he wanted to and recline to take naps.

“Wow, this feels so much better than laying in that bed all the time,” Lucky commented. “I’m starting to feel halfway normal again.”
 
Chapter 778 - E

“This is much better for you also. You can eat there too. You don’t have to get back in bed for the entire day if you can stand sitting there and getting up occasionally and walking with your friends. I’ll be back to check on you a few times today. Since I just started I don’t have many patients on my schedule today so I have more time to spend with the ones I have. I like it that way. If you need me though, just buzz the nurses’ station and ask for me. I’ll be here till 6:00, but I can come back later than that if need be,” Cooper offered. Lucky said he was doing great so far, but he wanted Cooper to check out the CNB this evening anyway. I told Cooper, I’d comp him beers for the work he’d done for Lucky. “Wow, I’ve already got friends in high places in this town, and I’m just starting out. I think I’m going to love it here,” Cooper commented.

“So, you’ll be in and out today checking on me?” Lucky asked, trying to get some reassurance.

“You bet those sweet ass cheeks I’ll be back to check on you, Lucky. In the meantime have fun and don’t do anything I wouldn’t do. You’re still recovering remember,” Cooper chided. Lucky laughed. Cooper took off.

“Well what was that?” Rowen asked, somewhat unsure as to what he just witnessed.

“I’m not sure, partner, but I think I just might have met my new boyfriend. Fuck Marvin. Cooper seems to be the real deal,” Lucky replied. I could tell Rowen didn’t seem to be impressed. Me, I thought the guy was great.

“Lucky, you don’t even know this Cooper guy. You just met him this morning. He could be a serial killer for all you know, hiding out in a small town to escape from wherever he came from,” Rowen replied, somewhat concerned. Lucky chuckled.

“Easy there, Rowen. He’s from Effingham, Illinois, a town in the middle of that state, basically the middle of nowhere on Interstate 70 a hundred miles east of St. Louis. He just broke out of a serious relationship where his ex was fucking around on him. He said he was devastated and embarrassed to be in the same small town with him. He had some friends he knew in college that moved here to Uni that told him to come here, start over with a new life in a totally different area. He said he came out here a couple of times, interviewed here at the hospital and liked it. They hired him right away, so he must be good at what he does. Frankly, I’d like to see what else he’s good at as the guy is kind of hot, not that you’d notice, Rowen, but I’m sure Josh did,” Lucky chided.

“Oh yeh. Wouldn’t throw him out of bed,” I replied, getting a stern look from Rowen. “Well, that is if I really liked hm and trusted him. Then I’d love to spend some time cuddling up to that body,” I added. Rowen shook his head.

“You can’t know someone in just that short amount of time, Lucky,” Rowen insisted.

“It’s not like he’s crawling into be with me tonight, although I kind of wish he would. He’s going to be spending time with me in the hospital here and dropping by the house to continue therapy also so we’ll have plenty of time to get to know one another. We’ll take some time and see where it goes. But, in all honesty, the chemistry was just amazing this morning. I felt like I maybe met my soulmate for the very first time,” Lucky said, getting somewhat excited.

“Maybe, but you can’t be too careful these days. I don’t want to see you get hurt again like what Marvin did to you. You don’t need that, and as great a guy as you are, you certainly don’t deserve that,” Rowen told him.

“Well, would you look at that, Josh. My little buddy cares about me and is protecting me like a good partner should. You’re the greatest, Rowen. Just then Hunter walked in.

“Hey how’s our bullet riddled patient this morning?” Hunter joked, making Lucky chuckle.

“A hell of a lot better now that I’ve had a real shower again and you fixed me up with a fantastic new physical therapist the likes of Cooper,” Lucky replied getting another odd look from Rowen.

“Great, you met Cooper already. Yes, we like him already. We think he’s going to be great. We’ve been looking for one for a long time and then he just up and applied. I guess he has friends from college that live here in town and they invited him to apply here. Having friends where you move to is a big help in getting resettled. He came with glowing recommendations. I talked to the staff at the hospital he worked at in Effingham, and they all said they hated to lose him as he was such a great guy and well loved and appreciated by the entire staff. They said he was fantastic with patients. Glad to know you liked him also, Lucky. That says a lot,” Hunter told him as he listened to his heart and checked his bandages on his right shoulder. “Any pain in the shoulder or the wound areas?” Hunter asked. Lucky smiled.

“Much better today. Still a little stiff in my shoulder but Cooper worked on that this morning and made it feel better. Being up and getting around helped also. Makes you feel better even if you aren’t,” Lucky replied. Hunter told him he’d been weaning Lucky off pain meds. He told him Ibuprofen would probably work for him now. He told him he could take as many as six at a time, but he’d prefer no more than two if he’d try. That seemed to please Lucky. Hunter removed he bandages where the bullet holes were and checked those wounds, saying they seemed to be healing rather nicely. They looked a little scary to me. He then put new gauze patches and tape on them. I asked him how Kenny was doing.

“Kenny is out of ICU and in a regular room now. He’s actually next door to Lucky here. That way the protection detail can do both rooms at the same time. Obviously, he’s doing much better. Clay wants to come and see him later today which would be good for him. There is security on his room, which I’m sure you expected so all guests have to be cleared through our security department. I think you guys pretty much took out all the bad guys in town, but you can never be too sure. Just let security know if you want to visit him. All of you are cleared since you’re cleared for Lucky, but if anyone else wants to visit, we’ll need the names ahead of time,” Hunter informed us. I told him that Kyle and Blake might want to visit him, but would do so with Clay. Hunter said he’d add their names to the list. I thanked him for that.

Hunter said he’d check back with Lucky this afternoon, but everything was looking good so far. If he kept improving like he was, he’d be able to be released sometime next week. “Like how soon next week?” Lucky asked. Hunter told him possibly Tuesday or Wednesday. “Not before then? Really, I feel good enough to go home now,” he told Hunter. Hunter scoffed at that.

“Yeh, right and reinjure yourself reaching for something. You need to just rest up and heal more before we discharge you, Lucky. The world can wait for your reappearance. A couple more days won’t kill you, but you could reinjure yourself easily if you aren’t careful. You need more physical therapy here and even when you get home. You’re going to see a lot more of Cooper before you’re done with everything,” Hunter told him.

Really? I kind of like that thought,” Lucky said somewhat excited. I chuckled. Rowen just rolled his eyes. Hunter chuckled.

“Cooper is going to do well here. Everyone that’s met him really likes him. He’s not bad on the eyes either,” Hunter commented getting an ‘amen’ from Lucky and me.

Just as soon as Hunter left, in walked Conner and Neal. “Just checking on you to make sure you’re behaving. We need you to get better so we can work your ass off again,” Conner told him.

“Well thank you, Chief. Can I call you Chief now?” Lucky asked Conner. Conner chuckled, telling him it wasn’t official yet, but he had all the responsibilities. “Hey, we just get a better title and more responsibilities but the pay seems to be the same,” Lucky joked. “At least I got two badges of honor I’ll be wearing around for the rest of my life.”

“Got you in the shoulder. Had to be your right one too. You should have zigged when you zagged, I guess,” Conner commented. Lucky gave him a concerned look. “You can never tell. Damn, that was a shame, buddy. You did great though, but we never should have let you do it. It wasn’t worth the risk. That Kenny guy is still in bad shape, but Doc told me he’s in a regular room now. We’ve got protection on him also, although I think we have all the criminals in the county in custody now. We even had to move some of them to county and state there were so many. All the important ones are here in town, right where I can see them,” Conner told us. “Anything you need from us, Lucky? Looks like your friends are here to take care of you. You doing okay, Rowen?” Conner asked, making Rowen smile. Rowen said he just here to take care of his partner. “Good man. Partners are tight in our department. Hopefully one day you’ll graduate and we can put you two to work together, if you can keep Neal out of Lucky’s squad car,” Conner teased, making me chuckle along with Lucky.
 
Chapter 778 - F

“Josh could use some help for security tonight if you could spare a couple of bodies,” Lucky suggested, something I hadn’t thought of. “I have a feeling Rowen’s not going to leave my bedside so he probably won’t be there for most of it. I swear he’d crawl in bed beside me if he could,” Lucky chided.

“Gees, who wouldn’t?” Neal chided, making us laugh but getting a look from Conner.

“Oh, Neal. I miss our fun times in the locker room. That’s the part I miss the most since I’ve been in the hospital,” Lucky chided. Neal rolled his eyes. “Don’t worry, buddy. I’ll be back soon. Maybe we can shower together when I get back to make up for all the days I’ve missed being in the locker room with you,” Lucky teased. Neal rolled his eyes.

“Lucky, you’re going to give Neal a heart attack just thinking about that. Don’t get him started. We’ve gotta run, but Neal and I will be there for security detail for you tonight, Josh. Don’t worry about that. We could use a couple of beers anyway after this week,” Conner commented. I told them to come for dinner and beers afterwards. They told me that was a deal.

Neal and Conner took off. I was just about to leave when a familiar voice was heard outside the room. My heart sank. It was Marvin. Lucky heard it also. I heard the guard say he’d have to check to see Lucky would see him, not knowing who he was. “What do you want to do, Lucky?” I asked him.

“Let me throw the asshole out,” Rowen reared up and said rather dramatically catching both Lucky’s and my attention. We were a little shocked at Rowen’s reaction. Lucky actually chuckled.

“I think my partner might have the best idea as to what to do, but I should talk to him. He did come all the way over here to see me, and maybe he wants to apologize, but I just don’t know if I could ever take him back,” Lucky said. I shrugged my shoulders but didn’t say anything thinking it was Lucky alone that had to make that decision.

“He doesn’t deserve you, Lucky. He used you for fun on the weekends and loved his brother-in-law behind his sister’s back during the week. You don’t need someone like that in your life. You could never trust him ever again,” Rowen stated, trying to make the case for throwing Marvin out. Lucky had to stop and think about it.

“You make a damn good point, Rowen. At least I should talk to him and let him know I’m not interested in three-way relationship so he can at least go on with his life,” Lucky suggested. I stepped outside the room to see Marvin. He had tears in his eyes.

“How bad is he hurt, Josh?” Marvin asked. I told him he was hurting a lot when it first happened but he was much better now. I told him he could go in and see him if he wanted to. Marvin followed me into the room and went straight over to Lucky. He wanted to lean in and kiss him, but Lucky brushed him off much to Rowen’s delight. I told Rowen we should give the two a moment to talk, motioning for him to follow me outside to the hallway. He didn’t want to leave Lucky’s side. Begrudgingly he started to follow me out.

“If he gives you any shit, Lucky, holler and I’ll throw his ass out in the street,” Rowen said on his way out.

“What did I ever do to you?” Marvin asked Rowen.

“You pissed all over my partner, that’s what you did, you asshole. This man loved you with all his heart and what the hell did you do? You went and shit all over him, broke his heart and put him in such a state of mind he got shot while trying to do his job, constantly depressed by what you did. So don’t give us that innocent bullshit that you had nothing to do with his injury, because in my mind, you had a lot to do with it. I’ll never forgive you for the shit you pulled,” Rowen practically shouted at him. I looked at Lucky who looked to be in shock at how Rowen stepped up to let Marvin have it.

“Rowen, none of this is your business so just butt out of it and leave us alone,” Marvin said.

“No wait. Marvin, we really don’t have too much to say unless you’re going to tell me you’re moving over here this weekend and will never see Drake again. If that’s the case we can talk, but if not, we have nothing more to discuss and you might as well go home and forget about me altogether,” Lucky told him.

“What, you fucking Rowen now? Is that it?” Marvin asked, somewhat heated. Lucky shook his head.

“No, Rowen is like my brother and unlike one of us here, I don’t fuck family like someone else I know. I would never do such an unspeakable act,” Lucky told Marvin.

“Hey, sometimes things happen that you can’t control. It just kind of happened with Drake and the more I wanted to stop it, the more I got caught up in it. I really thought that once we got together and I knew I loved you, that I could move and it would be over. Drake begged me to stay and made me feel guilty about leaving the family farm. He told me if I stayed, it would make everyone happy. He could take care of my homosexual needs that I couldn’t find in our small town, and I could still stay and run the farm for my family and everyone would be happy. He even told me I could run over here on the weekends if wanted and have sex with you, Lucky. That was supposed to make everyone happy,” Marvin pleaded. Lucky rolled his eyes.

“Fuck you, Marvin. You are one selfish bastard if there ever was one,” Rowen practically yelled at him. “This man gave you his heart and you just treated it like it was nothing, like something you could manipulate to suit your needs. What kind of selfish bastard are you anyway?” Rowen yelled at him.

“Lucky, can we talk without your little immature partner here? This is none of his fucking business,” Marvin pleaded.

“You know, I can’t imagine there is anything else to say. Thanks for coming over and checking on me several days after I was hurt, but you did get Drake’s dick out of your ass or your dick out of his long enough to venture over to check to see if I’d continue your fucked up relationship you wanted. I think I’m done with all of it and there isn’t anything else to say. Oh, there is one more thing to say. Tell Drake to go fuck himself and thanks for fucking up someone’s life that I really thought I loved. I think you two deserve one another. Boy is your sister going to shit a brick when she finds out about you two,” Lucky told Marvin.

“Lucky, you wouldn’t. You wouldn’t tell her, would you?” Marvin asked, really concerned now. Lucky shook his head.

“Fuck no, I would never do that to my worst enemy. I did love you, just for the record. I wish you nothing but the best in your little sordid world, but mark my word, she will find out eventually and then the shame that will befall all of you will be horrific. Just remember I warned you. You could have had a great life here with me, Marvin. I was so looking forward to that. But that’s not to be so all I can say now is goodbye. Nice knowing you,” Lucky told him.

“Hey I did love you too, just for the record, but I love Drake also. I thought I had enough love to go around for the two of you, but I guess not,” Marvin said, then turned to walk out of the room, scowling at Rowen when he left.

“Well that was pleasant,” I chided when Marvin had left. Lucky chuckled. Rowen was still pissed.

“Gees, Rowen, who bit your dick today? You talked to Marvin like a jealous boyfriend,” Lucky chided, making me chuckle, but he was right.

“I am a jealous partner, I guess. I’m here to protect you from everything bad I can,” Rowen spoke up seriously.

“Gees, and you take that damn seriously too. I’d hate to piss you off for sure,” Lucky told him. Rowen smiled.

“You won’t, Lucky. I care about you too much for that to ever happen,” Rowen replied. Lucky held out his left arm for Rowen to come to him and gave him a hug. I shook my head smiling telling the two I’d see them later.

Fantastic chapter as usual FT.

I enjoyed reading every word from beginning to end of this chapter.

For someone who claims to be straight Rowen sure was possessive of Lucky when Marvin finally showed up at the hospital several days after he was shot with some lame-ass excuse. Cooper, Lucky's physical therapist, just settled into his new job at the Uni hospital after leaving his previous relationship in Illinois when he too was cheated on. Looking forward to see if Lucky and Cooper can become a couple in the near future.

I'm excited for the next installment.
