We was a fixture with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra...used to attend many of his concerts.

Very melancholy news. He was probably the best-loved conductor the BBCSO ever had. Some conductors don't exactly connect with the audience, there's a sort of invisible wall separating them from us, but with him you always got the feeling that he was "in the room". All to do with subtle body language, I suppose. It was what made him a favourite at the Proms, where the atmosphere is very unbuttoned and the audience is quite matey, sometimes downright cheeky.

Marla Adams, actress, age 85. She was best known for portraying Dina Abbott Mergeron on the US soap 'The Young and the Restless'. Cause of death was not released.

Adams was known for playing Dina Abbott Mergeron on the hit CBS series. She first joined the show in 1983 and appeared on and off in the program for years, filming over 200 episodes to date.

In 2021, Adams earned a Daytime Emmy Award for her storyline in “The Young and the Restless.” She was nominated in 2018, she but lost to her co-star Camryn Grimes, who took home the award for outstanding supporting actress in a drama series.
