  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

the dislike of tattoo's...

How do you know you don’t like who or what they represent? Its different for everybody.

Also it is funny you think they “look low class”, at one time only kings, queens, elders etc. were able to wear them. They were a sign of high lineage and “class.”

Back to topic: Even though I have one and am planning another I think most people over do it any more. A male nurse at our ER has a sleeve and he is hot as hell. The guy in the OP, to me, over did it with his. To be fair though I don't find him cute at all so that would play into it.

Am I the only one that thinks tattoos enhance a sexy man's sex appeal?
I simply love watching a sexy toned and muscular body that also has tats.
I linger over the stuff and its a sensational dreamy feeling ......|

I think 1 looks good and 2 is pretty sexy, but he should have stopped there, but then again, I'm not a fan of sleeves or solid color. I'm more for the little bit here and there to accent your body, not cover it.

There's a difference between looking low class and actually being low class, which is your case.

The attitude from my family growing up was people with tattoos were common and ugly (especially on women). So naturally I rebelled against their views and have always been fascinated with tattooed men and women. Not to the point where I myself have them, I just haven't decided on a permanant mark I would like to adopt yet. My thoughts are that everyon'es a critic but you're the one who has to live with the design for your enture life so isn't your opinion the only one that really matters?

tattoo's arnt like UGG boots, people dont suddenly stop wearing them when they are out of season....

people will never stop getting tattoo's.

the responses on page 2 seem a bit over the top now. Again it seems the majority hate tattoo's but for people to think less of the guy because he has them, now that is retarted and says a lot more about you as a scummy person then people with tattoo's.

and to the guy that said he would make fun of him...., dont lie.

Allow me to clarify.....
The way SOME people get tats today it is exactly like any other fashion statement. "I think I'll get a tat because it's cool and all my buddies have them". Ask the newly tattooed in a few years if they still like their tat and a good portion of them will say no.
SOME tats look very good when they're first done. As they age, they fade, lose clarity, the skin condition changes and the tats end up looking like crap.
I have a brother in law who has the Zig Zag man in front of a pot leaf tattooed on the inside of one of his fore arms. He's approaching 60 and he regrets it. It was something that had somekind of meaning when he had it done but has long since lost it.
There are those that are getting them now just because, there is no meaning behind them, they just want to look cool. At some point they loose their uniqueness and become fashion.
I do not hate the person(s) who have them and I have seen some tats that are absolutely incredible. Conversely I have been to country fairs where everybody and their brother, sister, cousin, mother, father, aunt and uncle have been tattooed and they look classless and cheap.
Not everyone who gets a tat is as good looking as your example. Not all tats are tasteful, not all tatoo artists know what they're doing. Place these three items to gether in any combination and you end up with some damn ugly tats.

oops

extreme-tattoo-and-penis-piercings-3.jpg

this is the worst one so far.
Worst than full tatts on face.

I have six dispersed throughout my bod. Theres only one im considering getting removed, a pentagram on my right arm, it was cool at the time, but since then, stars have become somewhat of an excessive fad, and now mine feels rather unoriginal, even if i got it seven years ago.

Guy4silver.

What in the fuck. Have you ever heard of tribal tattoos. Sometimes spiritual people will get tattoos that represent something important to them. EVEN CLANS. An irish guy I knew got a tattoo of his clan on his back. That is HERITAGE. He isn't some gangstah mobstah that's gonna raep kids or smoke pot in his garden or something..

That's just a little extreme view to go as far as say that they represent bad people or criminals. Saying that they represented killers and prostitutes and that "exceptions" don't really change that is bullshit.

My dad's actually have two tattoos as well. They are small ones like a star and Tigger. How the fuck is a tigger tattoo representing, death violence, criminal, and unmoralness.

Also. What is wrong with a warrior or a masochist? Some warriors have honor. Which is something that rarely exists in this day and age anymore. And I don't see how a masochist is a bad thing. Someone who doesn't hurt others but enjoys pain. Explain that to me.

It sounds to me like you just have a really huge fear of tattoos so all you can do is hate them and assume that anyone who has a tattoo is an immoral fuck. I feel really bad for you because there are some great guys out there with tattoos who don't do drugs, murder, rape, or have bad morals and who you'd miss out on just because of your irrational fear and extremist view. Do you feel the same way about graffiti?

Because some people use it to represent violence, death or gangs doesn't mean everyone does. To some it's art and it all depends on the one who is doing it and where they are doing it.

It's one thing to "say" your opinion but when you say "Oh tattoos are for criminals, prostitutes, and low class people"

If you think that people are just going to respect your opinion for that you are mistaken because that is not only offensive but just rude, close minded, and stupid.

And if I got a tattoo I don't think my parents would stigmatize me. Even though my parents are somewhat old fashioned. They know I am a good person, with good morals, and trust me and know I have good judgment (for the most part)

And actually a co-worker of mine at my work has freaking piercing's in her nose. No one goes "OH MY GOD SHE'S A CRIMINAL", "SHE WORSHIPS SATAN", "SHE'S A REBEL WITH BAD MORALS!"

She only wears one nose ring during her work. And the truth is that a nose ring or piercing is better than a bracelet or jewelry in the food industry. Bracelets, necklaces, and rings can slip off and get into food or cause a physical contamination. Nose rings can not. They are pretty much attached. She also gives great customer service, is a great employee, great friend, and pretty much well liked.

So that thing about "being silly and wanted to be branded and accepted" is bullshit.

Yeah, status in the criminal world. Funny on one hand you want to be branded but on the other hand, you want to be accepted.

Anyway, the majority of cultures throughout history have associated tattoos with people who were on the fringes of society: criminals, prostitutes, warriors, prisoners, slaves, and masochists. Sure there were exceptions to the rule. There's really no changing their meaning--imho.

If you don't want to be stigmatized then don't get anymore tats.

So now I am a convict, killer and have an extreme code all because I got a tattoo. You’re not even close. As for status in the criminal world, you are way off in your bias. I know doctors, programmers, lawyers, pastors, etc. all with tattoos. The one pastor I know has them all over his face because of his faith. I second Noiro’s "CITATION NEEDED". At this point the only thing tats are showing is your bias and that you feel anyone different than you is a criminal.

As for being stigmatized it will always happen. Its a good thing I don't care what people think.
