The Inauguration

With Democratic Senator from New York Charles Schumer having a hosting role at the Inauguration, a quip about his first priority
comes to mind. "The most dangerous place to be in Washington is between Charles Schumer and a mic". ALWAYS ready for his close up!;)

Sadly, the only thing that I remember from the first is Aretha Franklin's hat:

A little r-e-s-p-e-c-t, Centex! ;)

Tagg Romney said that nobody wanted Mitt Romney to be president less than Mitt Romney.

There are 800,000 people on the Mall right now who may disagree with that statement.

....Tagg? Does he have a brother named Trogg?

Observations: Obama's speech was boring. Nadler's chins are wider than ever and Beyonce is extremely HOT, HOT, HOT.

After the Inauguration while MSNBC's O'Donnell was saying that no one was leaving and everyone was dwelling on Obama's speech -- their cameras were showing people leaving en masse.

The ceremonies are going smoothly! It's interesting to see who all is at the luncheon.

Pleasantly surprised when the President mentioned Stonewall. Never thought I'd hear that name in an Innauguration speech.......

What I found particularly poignant about President Obama's mention of Stonewall is that he mentioned in the same context as the Civil Rights Movement and the Women's Rights Movement. The exact quote is as follows:

We, the people, declare today that the most evident of truths – that all of us are created equal – is the star that guides us still; just as it guided our forebears through Seneca Falls, and Selma, and Stonewall;

By putting the struggle for gay rights on the same footing as that for racial and gender equality, President Obama has created history. Perhaps it is a not so subtle indication to the conservatives on the Supreme Court that they risk historical opprobrium if they uphold DOMA and strike down marriage equality. It was huge, and certainly shows where the president's head and heart is at.

Not bad for a racist country

The irony is thick

I Love everything about the inaugurations. I've watched all of them going back to Bubba..I will be watching MSNBC all day on Monday and thank the Man that invented the DVR Pause feature...

Has anyone heard who is gonna replace Anti-Gay Atlanta Pastor Giglio? They mentioned the players on the news but havent mentioned his replacement...They should have asked Al Sharpton. He's the only mainstream Pastor that marched for Gay Civil Rights in New York back in the day.

I watched him pray and I didn't catch his name. But he asked to bless the gays. So he is good to go.
Also that poet did a fine job with his poem.

Apparently, you got so bored that you missed the fact that for the first time in history, a President spoke of marriage equality in an Inauguration speech. Here, let me put it here so you see what your President did for you while you were busy digging in your butthole for something to throw at him:

Our journey is not complete until our gay brothers and sisters are treated like anyone else under the law – for if we are truly created equal, then surely the love we commit to one another must be equal as well. We, the people, declare today that the most evident of truths – that all of us are created equal – is the star that guides us still; just as it guided our forebears through Seneca Falls, and Selma, and Stonewall; just as it guided all those men and women, sung and unsung, who left footprints along this great Mall, to hear a preacher say that we cannot walk alone; to hear a King proclaim that our individual freedom is inextricably bound to the freedom of every soul on Earth.

Four more years

I don't think Fox or right-wing blogs have told him to care about this issue yet.

Harry Reid is up

It's like a Comedy Central roast

Save for the laughs ;)

Clinton (bill) and Boehner sharing a rather lengthy handshake and convo

No doubt sharing their love for the Pres.

Schumer as emcee didn't do it for me

He kept looking at his watch

The motorcade is driving down Pennsylvania Avenue now. Will the President and First Lady walk part of the way like they did?

YES THEY ARE!

FOUR MORE YEARS!

PS:

What do you think the loser Romney is doing this afternoon? Firing people? Counting his money hidden away overseas? Outsourcing jobs? Shutting down businesses?

It's like the bad news bears ;)

Congrats to Pres. Obama for an excellent campaign

My hope is he morphs into governing FOR THE PEOPLE soon

There's a lot of people lining Pennsylvania Avenue. Lots of cheering and waving. Wonder what kind of mileage that gargantuan Cadillac gets?

The First Lady looks great. No Laura Bush pant suits for her.

Really? Like, as in morphing into governing FOR THE PEOPLE who want to shaft the rest of us? 'Cause otherwise you're just being silly.

No matter what Obama says or does, it will be wrong to people like him.

This is about the second inauguration of President Obama. Thank God not Romney.... can you imagine what a disaster that would have been?
