Do you mean like the guys at realjock...???? What about those ones who troll as a guest over at Tybees board and just talk childish?

Most stuff said over the internet is first world problems and childish nonsense.

I actually disagree that there's no way to 'flip around' a word used to disparage. When it's used positively in-group (instead of as an insult in-group) it references both a shared history and an the ability (or need) to 'take back' the vocabulary used to disparage. An ownership, if you will. That use of such words tends to fall by the wayside as rights and self-respect are bolstered by outside communities. Then new terms are more often than not created.

That said, people (and as such, groups) rarely get rights and self respect without first identifying with the term in question while still giving others the finger. Because you have to start somewhere.

Speaking as a black male, I disagree wholeheartedly with that because I often see folks that refer to themselves and others who are like them getting upset with slurs often get angry as fuck when those that are outside their group call them the same thing. If the meaning has changed, anybody could use it with the meaning being the same. That is not the case. I often see a whole lot of so called "way that the context in which it is used" brought up with people trying to change the meaning and shit.

I didn't say you could call anyone in your group that willy-nilly. The people who fling tranny around (particularly as if we are all shit on equally) tend to get a harsh talking to by other trans people, but trans people aren't in the same 'time-period', so to speak, with regards to rights-on-paper/visual public tolerance as black people in a lot of places. It's discussed beforehand with trans people or brought up about terms individuals like/don't like being used for themselves when it occurs.

I was trying to explain some quirks on language evolution when you're stuck with terms others coined for you and/or shitty words and have to use those words before you make your own. Even transgender was coined by a bloody psychologist. It takes a while for the older words to go out of practice and fall from conscious memory. Black people have created several - trans people aren't there yet on creating their own, still trying to put trans in a positive light as self-description.

Hrm. Take Jpghost's 'useless tranny' as an example. Completely fucking toxic coming from a cis person, made to keep you under heel. But a trans partner could say that in affection when my blind ass mismatches colors on my wardrobe as cis people focus on clothing and surgery and 'passing' above all else to consider you a valid human being. As an example.

Message to my Dear Brother and his wife:

Stop saying "We have 5 cats and you would never know it"

Its just not fucking true!

^ Eyes watering when you visited were they? Smell of ammonia scented spray all over the furniture and everyone looks like they had just been in a fight with a cat every time they get up off the couch?

^More like a fog of Febreze with a hint of clearly recognizable cat piss ammonia. And lots of faux fur throws to cover up damage.I guess they love them. They cater to their every whim.

They're supposed to have a litterbox for every feline since they dislike sharing and, if they dislike another cat, will stalk the litterbox and keep them from using it. And they can clip their nails, too, our cat is much happier that way, less likely to tear shit up.

Well as someone with four cats with claws can attest.

Thank God for slip-covered furniture.

Actually, one per kitty plus one extra. And even then...they share....but they do have favourite boxes for different things. Our girls get so offended when one of the boys poops in their pee box for instance.

Even then...there are times when the amount of urine they can discharge...or one of their meaty dumps can even make me cry.

They have colored nail covers out now that supposedly keeps them from scratching the furniture for a couple weeks. Not sure how well they work tho.

hahahahahahahahahahahaha....phewwwwwwwwwwwwww

We go with the theory that you can have cats or you can have good furniture.

But a well upholstered chair never brought me pure joy.

We're cheating, in a way -Ron's really only interested in clawing carpet, not so much furniture. She doesn't seem interested in killing cloth-but she does have favorite colors, probably because she realized early in kittenhood that if she didn't contrast with her surroundings, I sat on her.

Get some potent catnip and rub. Works wonders.

I went to the feed store and bought 50lb bags.

Works like "Litter Green" at a fraction of the cost. Plus, it's flushable. And, it absorbs odors too.

You're still not getting my point. You can try to reclaim a word but you can't take away the history and the original meaning of it.

For example and I really don't want to go there, the F word associated with gay people. You can't take away the history of that word. It will always be there.

The point isn't to take away the history. That's not what reclamation of a word is. The point is to both acknowledge the history, acknowledge the current use of it from outside parties, and then go "Fuck you. This doesn't make me inhuman". That's why words morph after you start getting basic rights. When others start believing that you should also have those rights there's a bit less outside stress, and one can start the creation of a group name (or group names, in this case, since transgender isn't the same as transexual isn't the same as non-binary (as an identity as opposed to a grouping of multigender identities).

Mind you, in every group there's assholes that can't tell their head from a hole in the ground and use it both in the general public for everyone and in a negative manner. They don't seem to get that you're still not supposed to use that shit as an insult. Or for people in your group you don't know or aren't on friendly terms with. Since it's fuckin' rude.
