Tonight I saw "The Promise" starring Oscar Isaac and Christian Bale. It is a true story that takes place during WWI in Turkey and Syria. The story is about the extermination of the Armenian people. The story took place over 100 years ago and today the same thing is going on. It is very sad!

The movie was excellent! Check it out!

Watched it on an airplane (I think I see more movies on airplanes than in movie theaters.) 2 evenings ago. Surprisingly, it was the only film available. I hadn't intended to watch a movie at all, but I tired of reading the two books I brought with me.

I hadn't bothered to see it when it was in the theaters because the reviews were mediocre to bad. As it turned out, I loved the movie. Thought-provoking and entertaining. Great plot, excellent script and acting. Good chemistry between the leads. I don't understand why it wasn't a big hit. Was the edited-for-airplane viewing tighter and therefore better? Was it somehow more engrossing on a very small screen? Don't have a clue.

Give it a try on Netflix. Or next time you're on an airplane.

All of the jokes, but two were in the trailer. I will give credit that there was a lot of gay jokes, but there was a gay couple and there were no jokes about them. The characters just happened to be a gay couple.
