I'm something of a film fanatic, so I frequently watch films (and love to talk about them).
Last night, I went to a theater to see the new dramedy Win Win, with Paul Giamatti, one of my favorite actors. It's more comedy than drama. Quite funny, well acted (including a good performance by a young, first-time actor), very well written and well crafted. Amy Ryan, fine as always, is in it as well. I recommend it to anyone living in an area it plays in and after it comes out on home video. IMO, it's one of the better films of this year so far.
A couple days ago I finished watching the blu-ray rental of Faster, with Dwayne Johnson. I had low-ish expectations for it but, in the end, thought it was a good action flick. Even though the artist formerly known as The Rock may not be my first choice when it comes to acting in a "serious" film, he does have a certain allure in action films (rather like Arnold Schwarzenegger or Vin Diesel in that way) and his character in this film suits his talents well. Then, of course, he's a huge, sizzling hot, hard-bodied muscular hunk with a charismatic personality. What's not to love?
And I still have about a half-hour to go on my blu-ray of Senso, an Italian classic directed by Lucino Visconti in 1954. Quite compelling. Beautiful colors. Gorgeous cinematography. Beautiful people. It helps that the lead actor is a stud (but almost all the guys in the film are)

. It's an operatic romance between two people from different socioeconomic and political backgrounds during a time of war in Italy. He is a soldier. She lives in the world of the political elite his comrades are fighting. It's almost like Romeo and Juliet.
