the last film you watched thread

Last night I saw "The Lone Ranger". It was good and I enjoyed it, but it wasn't too special. It was given a "B" rating by the critics and I agree, it was not an "A", but was worth seeing.

Gone In 60 Seconds (1974)

Solid car chase scene stuff for the last 40 minutes or so. The first portion of the film you can pretty much skip.

The Lion King

I have no idea what all the hype is about. Other than the wonderful 'Circle of Life' opening, it was only okay.

Watched Bullitt and Vanishing Point today. Both real solid movies.

Later on the agenda is to watch The Blues Brothers.

The Driver - 1978
Mad Max - 1979
The Junkman - 1982

Been really into watching Car movies or movies with good car chase scenes in them lately. I've never been huge into cars and I don't even drive myself but I'm loving it. Although the Halicki films are a lot about the stunts and crashing cars for the sake of crashing cars, which is fine by me, they're fun to watch.

The Conjuring.

Excellent. Well acted. Well written. Some jump in your seat moments. Several, in fact.

I saw it Friday afternoon and agree. I'm a huge horror geek and the film creeped me out. :) Lili Taylor and Vera Farmiga's performances were excellent.

Inception (2010) requires a gargantuan credulity from the viewer to vanquish its gargantuan absurdity. I couldn't muster it.

Only God Forgives.

Good revenge film with good cinematography and style. A bit violent too, but it isn't gratuitous. The film isn't completely straight forward either, but the pieces are there to fill in the blanks.

The first time I watched My Side of the Mountain (1969) I was so young I couldn't comprehend that people spoke languages other than my own English (Canadian French, in this case.)

Decades later, it remains a terrific fantasy for anyone who feels the restorativeness of the natural world.

The Wolverine, much improved on Origins choppy in parts but Jackman is amazing in it plus you get to see some of his naked ass!
