the last film you watched thread

^ well that's worth the admission price alone.

Pacific Rim 2D version/Digital (I guess all films of this expense are digital these days)

Above average for this type of film. It's basically Transformers meets Godzilla monsters from outer space. Entertaining enough to be worth the trip. Including the storyline, which, amazingly it actually had a pretty good one. The acting is good, characters were surprisingly well developed and enjoyable to watch. Some funny lines/scenes as well. Over the top action sequences which I, personally, would NOT want to endure in 3D.

Note to any True Blood fans. The guy who plays Ben Flynn (Warlow vampire fairie) has a lead role and he looks very hot. Charlie Day is also adorkable in it. Along with the lead male actor who is absolutely gorgeous (Charlie Hunnam). Another main character is played by the hunky guy who was the ships captain in Prometheus. (Idris Elba)

I will be buying this on blu-ray just for the guy candy.

Like the last movie I mentioned above, I watched one about leaving home. In this case, it was a documentary which resonates with me romantically about those who've transitioned across borders.

Hippie Masala (2006).

Maniac (2012)

Solid remake. Elijah Wood was properly creepy and disturbing. Solid amount of gore that just made you feel a bit uncomfortable. Awesome soundtrack, sounds like something that came from a 70's/80's horror flick.

I watched "The Double" recently. A fine suspense thriller movie with plenty of twists. Some of it is given away in the beginning of the movie, but that only thickens the intrique and suspense as you are empathizing with the protagonist. Ending could have been resolve slightly better though.

I saw Fruitvale Station last night. Great movie. Very sad true story. Michael B Jordan the star of the movie is a total hottie!

Make Way for Tomorrow (1937).

Thankless children put their own happiness before that of their elderly parents.

A woman might be granted all the fearsome powers of a phallus. But at the end of the day she's still just a woman...

Rabid (1977).

I don't know how I disliked Cronenberg when I was a kid. Now, I love his movies.

Last night I was invited to see a production of "The Pirates of Penzance" at the local playhouse but since I wasn't feeling very well I stayed home & watched episodes of Ancient Aliens Season #1

A bigot endures the consequences of his prejudice. Dharm (2007).

Will the filmmakers endure the consequences of their prejudice, too?

I just completed some typical Saturday evening assignments and now I am trying to decide on a movie to chill with. :)

I rewatched "Ted" (2012) just to listen to the commentary with McFarlane and Wahlberg. I guess I'm a big writer nerd, but I usually enjoy commentaries if they're from movies and/or people I like.

A squishy, indulgent look at sri Amritanandamayi devi mata, aka Amma, the hindu religious figure who hugs her multitude of devotees.

Made more palatable by the engaging, if sometimes irrelevant, cinematography. Darshan: the Embrace (2006).

About 3/4 of Sharknado. It's far more horrible than I even imagined, even by SyFy's low standards. I had to stop watching because it was unbearably bad. This movie is so cheap that it can't even afford to be low budget. Shame, I never actually got to see the actual "sharknado", an hour and 15 minutes into the movie . . .

Into the Abyss (2011). Halfwit teenagers murder three people for a car. Werner Herzog examines the outcome.
