So... I haven't been to the city much to see anything new, I have bought blu-rays to tide me over though. So here I go.
The Road: Starring Viggo Mortensen.
I have never seen this film before now. It's a very depressing movie from beginning to end.
It doesn't explain anything about what caused the world to change but I think that's a good thing, most movies of this sort tend to over explain things. Its always worse though when one character is given the role of explaining such things. Anyway, because of this, the movie leaves room for more time with the father and son.
I liked that there are other elements such as the cannibals which are left largely undefined which is good, we know what they do. We do not need to see them.
The performances are pretty good all around but it is all Mortensen's show and he is amazing in the role although he looks very sickly. The resolution, such as it is feels very unsatisfying but how can it, its about the friggin' end of the world. Enjoy!
Gremlins 25th Anniversary Blu-ray:
I've always loved this movie but for the life of me, it always bugged me that Gizmo's babies always turned out evil. Even in the horrible sequel his or its babies turned out evil.
Sure, I know its just a stupid kids movie but it would have been nice if they had a prequel or something to explain Gizmo's story. Was Gizmo him or itself at one point an evil little bastard who got turned around by the creepy old Asian guy? I'd like to know one day!
Moving on, Zach Galligan is in this and that is all that matters. That shirtless scene, "le sigh". I saw him recently in Hatchet 3, a thankless role if there ever was one, and he is still handsome. He needs a new agent.
Moonstruck:
Where the hell is Cher? She needs to be in more movies, the 80s and early 90s were awesome with Cher movies, I am waiting on a decent version of The Witches of Eastwick on blu, perhaps even a commentary with the ladies from that flick.
Then she disappeared, probably resting her bones in some embalming fluid chamber to keep the moisture in.
Anyways, as much as I hated this flick, I liked her in it. She was awesome as usual.
Oh and Nicholas Cage was hot here... nowadays he is creepy as fuck. He is creepy in this movie too but a sexy kind. Enjoy!
Kate & Leopold on blu.
Yes. I was perving on Jackman in period clothes... anyway.
Having thoroughly watched this movie again, its a frigging sick movie.
Does Meg Ryan's character going back in time with Hugh Jackman's character actually mean that the Liev Shrieber character has been poking his great, great, great granny for 4 years prior to this time travel shenanigans? If so, eww!
Oh and Hugh Jackman's character is supposed to be Liev Schrieber's great, great, great granddad or something, I always got a pervy vibe between them. No man chases after a man like that unless he wanted to rip his clothes off and you know the rest... yes. Its a sick fucking movie, watch it. Cringe, get turned on and then remember that this was the falling point for Meg Ryan. Enjoy! :0
