I'm watching the Hallmark marathon right now.

Happy 100th Lucille RIP

Re: Happy 100th Birthday, Lucy!

I *LOVE* LUCY! :luv:

Happy 100th, girl! And rest in peace.

She was the much-beloved woman who made billions and billions down through time laugh, and was a pioneer and trail-blazer for female comediennes, even to this day. Tonight, remembering a comedy genius.

And good evening, everyone. I hope you are doing well, tonight.

In that special, high-end echelon of royalty for people only known by one singular name, she was, is, and will always be remembered as Lucy. And when she died, exactly 23 years ago, today, whatever lead story on the evening newscast of your choice had been originally planned, was very easily scrapped. When she died, an entire planet's laughter turned to sorrow at her passing...

Everybody loved Lucy, indeed. And, through the miracle of the advent of YouTube, she will now, literally be remembered for eternity...

Share your favorite Lucy moment...

Here are mine.

Vitameatavegamin (The captions are in Russian...) "It's so tasty, too!"

The Great Grape Fight... :rotflmao:

The Chocolate Factory...

I have every single episode of "I Love Lucy", even including the hour long "Lucy and Desi Comedy Hour" :) I LOVE Lucy so much! I swear, that show always makes me instantly happy... nothing any show today can do. I'm glad someone made her a thread! ;)

^^ lol... Si, [STRIKE]macho grasa[/STRIKE], er, I mean, muchas gracias...

Y'all remember the time Lucy and Ethel tried to hock mayonnaise on TV? :corn:

She was smart to stick to her guns and insist that Desi star with her on the show, the studio didn't want what was basically considered a mixed race marriage back them. Desi helped created the modern sitcom by using multiple cameras and having a live studio audience. She was a great comic actress. There are a lot of interesting tidbits in the I Love Lucy Wiki page. I Love Lucy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

To me Lucy is someone special. I grew up in the hometown of Lucy, Jamestown NY. In 1957 got to see Lucy and Desi in person, when the they back for the world premier of Forever Darling. In was day we got out school to stand in the rain and snow to see the gal who made it big. Will never forget the opportunity of seeing Lucy.

My favorite Lucy show is when Desi loses his job and Fred, Ethel and Lucy dress in garb to get Desi back at the club. Fred in drag!

I love Lucy too. A while ago I bought the entire series on DVD.... all 6 seasons and the Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour on DVD also.

She was a film star before her pioneering television show. She was the epitome of Hollywood glamor and very beautiful.

There are too many favorite shows to mention, but I liked when Lucy, Ricky Fred and Ethel went to Hollywood. Lucy gets a bad sunburn then models a wool tweed suit.

She was so cool. I mean, she produced her own show in the '60s or something like that. It must have taken a mammoth amount of effort to ignore the sexism of the time.

I wonder who could play Lucille in a movie?

As much as I loved the great comic bits (LOVED the William Holden show), my favorite Lucy was when she learned she was pregnant and kept trying to tell Ricky. When she finally did, they both got all teary-eyed.

I LOVE THAT EPISODE!!! It's too bad that ILL was shot in the days before color television. I'll bet she looked as red as a Del Monte tomato.

Another favorite >> Remember the time when one of the New York-area newspapers had that lucky buck contest, where you had to match the serial numbers on dollar bills. They accidentally tore it in half in an argument, then agreed to go down to the newspaper office together and cash it in for the $300 grand prize. The laundry service came by, and while Ricky was in the shower, Lucy had sent his PJs to the laundry. Only problem was, the Ricardos' half of the winning dollar bill was off in the pocket of the pajamas! Lucy and Ricky had to break in to the laundry service, and Lucy accidentally got stuck in the machinery! I'll never forget how she looked when she showed up to the newspaper office - Her skirt had been spread wide across, and heavily starched, her hair looked like the NBC peacock, her arms folded by her side, her clothes were a mess, and she could only walk sideways. :rotflmao: She was a hot, holy mess! And to add insult to injury, after all the fines and emergency expenses she and Ricky incurred, they all were left with $1 to divide between the 4 of them.

A true comic as well as smart business woman. The sad thing about Lucy is what you saw on tv was not real, what mean is the marriage of Desi and Lucy was one of roadblocks. Desi was cheater but Lucy stayed with him. When they did divorce they remained close friends.

This is supposed to be the only color version of the I Love Lucy show ever filmed. An audience member sneaked in their 8mm film camera and recorded a few minutes of the taping. When you see the sets in color it really looks different. I'm glad someone sneaked their camera in 60 years ago so there is some record of what the decor was.
