** The Offical 2008 MLB Thead!!! **

2004
Right now, I shall focus my rage on the Houston Astros for breaking our 5 game winning streak tonight :grrr:

Cory, I feel your pain but maybe the problem was with La Russa more than the Astros..

I have often disagreed with the plays and decisons made by a manager.
But what LaRussa did was down right lame. Now I gotta say he has had a pretty good start but he wrecked the cards 5 game winning streak. Not to mention what he did to kill the confidence of a great young pitcher.
Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the 8th inning, LaRussa gave up on that kid and gave the ball to Jimenez!
WHAT??? HUH??? Why???
If Springer wasn’t on the DL this loser would not even be there, I mean what’s his ERA? 10???. Even if I agreed with taking the kid out, and I don’t, what about Flores or Franklin?
But wait, it gets worse, even after the Cards came back,
Tony does it again and instead of bringing Isringhausen in, he goes with a rookie named Kyle McClellan. ](*,)

Check please, game over.

^ Oh I know sonny. I was like "Seriously? McClellan?!?" :grrr:

An interesting day in the NL Central. The Cubs/Pirates go into 15 innings...Cubs score two runs in the top of the 14th off Aram's 2 run HR, and Adam LaRoche  comes back and answers with a 2 run HR in the bottom of the 14th!

Alas, the Cubs score 2 in the top of the 15th and win. Boo!

Milwaukee loses to Cincinnati tonight (a bloodbath!...)

And guess what?

Albert homers twice (finally) in the game versus the Astros tonight and the Cards get a win! Sitting alone in first place at the top of the NL Central! :gogirl:

Woot woot! A four game set coming up versus the Giants, who haven't been doing much lately, if anything at all...

It's a good time to be a Cards fan! :D

(ah hem...and again, sorry about the Mets my loves...)

What do you have to be sorry for,Abs?We won tonight,8-2!:gogirl:I'm happy the Cards won tonight too...all is now as it should be,at least tonight for Mets fans!;)

Had to resurrect this thread to say....Yankees 15....Boston 9.:gogirl:We were merely toying with you!:p

I like the bump, only because tonight the Cards won their second game out of a three game series between the Brewers! (!)

I'll take tied for the best record in MLB! :D

I knew you'd give me a ribbin'
Don't get your hope up,Francona must have been smoking something to leave Beckett in that long.
Hey that Mike Messina is loooookingggg goooooddd!
And I hope he smokes it all year!:gogirl:Yep,Mussina is a really hot guy.:DI think Abs appreciated the Cards bowl hat so much he's lettting his instinct for razzing slide. But probably it lasts only for so long.;)

Definitely an incredible tribute to Jackie Robinson,a guy who had to deal with all the pressure of breaking the modern era color barrier in MLB.His health suffered greatly and he died way too young...but what a tremendous example of the kind of competitive, passionate athlete New Yorkers love.

I would have loved to have seen the Mets name the new stadium after him,but so much is financial considerations intertwined in today's game I kind of understansd...and this grand gateway,The Jackie Robinson Rotunda, isa worthy tribute and weill be a historic destination for all baseball fans to witness his legay for a long time to come. What a future we can look forward to as New York baseball fans with two iconic new arenas to cheer our Mets and Yankees beginning next season.

Oh,btw,sonny...did see Busch Stadium the first day I got in fior the St. Louis meet,on Thursday...Cards were on the road unfortunately!:(My impression of the stadium? It was ai'ight.;)

Sox gave it back to the Yanks tonight...Beckett wasn't incredible but solid and tough when it mattered.Just too little too late for the Yanks in 7-5 loss to Boston at the Stadium. My respects Boston fans(read...Brad);)as the Sox took last night's punch and dusted themselves off and did what they had to do!Rivalries are fun,if frustrating!;)

Red Sox will kick ass as always! ;)

Mike Lowell is hot too! ;)

I'll take an 11-1 Cardinals win tonight! Woot!

Albert getting a 3 run HR, Duncan with a 2 run HR, and then some...

Mets 6-4 win ,with another strong effort by Johann Santana and David Wright imposing his will(ooh,I love when he does that)going 4-4 with 3 RBI!Heilmann scares me a little...been either really good or sucked.Sucked tonight, and he just has that rep as being too up and down.I hope he settles down.Wagner's been lights out, though!

Glad to see the Cards doing their bit in the Central as the Mets are starting to heat up in the East.Very much anticipate seeing your guys in October for a little unfinished business!

Yeah my heart did a little skip when Heilman allowed those runs. BUT, we gotta remember the pen has been getting the job done lately. ..|

I was yellin at Willie (like I sometimes do) when Santana came up to bat in the bottom of the 7th, and thought Anderson should have put in that spot to pinch hit. I just felt, Santana had done a great job and it was time to let the pen finish the game and get him the win. I dono what it was, I jus had a bad fellin about it, the pen has been gettin the job done and I really did not want Santana to pitch the 8th
Well lo and behold, Santana ends up gettin yanked after two batters, and again I'm yellin at Willie " I told you not to let him pitch any more today," :grrr:
Then Heilman come up and scares the hell outta me:help:
But it was all good and a great game was saved.
I was horse from screamin (I do that a lot watching a game) "CYCLE" at David Wright in his last at bat, now that would have been sweet. Would have been the end of a perfect game for my David.
Great game!

I really like seeing the club play with life and purpose now.If Reyes needs to do his happy dance to keep him his usual self I'll gladly get in front of my TV and join him....though he wasn't instrumental last night,he seeems to be poised for a really good stretch.

Wish David got the homer for the cycle,too...that's always fun to see get done. But he is heating up and though his throwing is a little worrisome this year,he's poised for another MVP run!:D

All I ask is that you beat the ever living shit outta the Cubs in a couple days
