The Official 2009 MLB Thread!

The Nationals signed right-hander Livan Hernandez.

nats win, 15-6

I wish you better luck with him than the Mets had.

I get why they would want to go with him, basically the Nationals pitchers are limited and often pushed past those limitations
It just seemed to me that one of the biggest problems your guys had was with pitchers who could not go deep into games. Now I don’t know if Ivan will help you out a whole lot there cause although he started out great with the Mets he totally fizzed in his last couple of starts. Hernandez was with the Nationals in 2005he looked sharp then with an ERA of about 4.00
Perhaps your pitching coach can do better with him than the Mets coach did.
Wonder how he will pitch against the Mets. ;)

Albert. Pujols. Walk off home run.

He is baseball. (!)

The Cards are on a tear right now - no looking back at the stupid Cubs who are floundering (and I'm secretly loving every second of their demise...)

Playoffs, here we hopefully come! :D

The sweep was orgasmic for me Gumby.

However, not so good for the Nationals :(

You guys really do have a good lineup. I just wish your pitching would come around, and maybe you guys could do some damage! ..|

To the Phillies,Braves,Marlins and if need be Cubbies. Not the Mets....next year, they'll be wreaking havoc instead of sending in insurance claims!

*and sending their fans out for antacids on pretty much a nightly basis*!oops!

Well actually it was good for the Nationals since their formula for winning is to lose more games than the Royals so they can once again claim the first round pick in the draft.

What a very sad state of affairs for even the casual Nats fan.

I'm a real optimist,sonny;)...anything has to be better than what Mets fans had to go through this year,as well as what too any individual Mets had to suffer through!Hey,at least we aren't Cubbie fans!:p

Your mom sounds like a real funny, endearing lady!..|

Right back at ya babe
hopefully this thread will get heat up again as the post season does.

Same here,Abs and sonny:kiss:

St. Louis gets my nod for the postseason....unless they are playing the Yankees in the World Series!:p

Any better player on the planet not named Joe Mauer than Albert Pujols....incredible season!

Phillies Phan here..BRAD LIDGE NEEDS TO GO!! Going into the Post season, he is CANCEROUS!!! Charlie, WTF????

No AL win for me, and with the Mets out of it, no team in the NL East either
St louis in the postseason, I can already see Abs Hyperventalating ;)

Hang in there Cory (Abs) I feel your frustration babe but it soon be over and the Cards will clinch.Woulda been nice had the Giants eliminated the Cubs, but better if they get the title with a win of their own..They had the champagne shipped to Coors Field for a celebration, but for now the corks are still in.

Brendan Ryan has decided he is not gonna shower until they clinch, then said well…maybe for another day. I know how you feel Abs baby, your magic number seems stuck at one, sooooo frustrating. But like I said just hang in there, the Cards have played great ball this year and deserve the win. I am hoping so that I can have something to watch cause I sure as Hell aint gonna watch the NL east anymore after next weekend.
So good luck to Adam Wainwright, lets get this thing done. I would rather they win today and not get the title cause of the Cubs and Giants game this afternoon. I would think after all this waiting they would want to win this with a win of their own and not because of another team’s loss.

Go Cards!

sonny, just take your shirt off and marry me already! :p

There was an interesting article in the Post Dispatch today, about the similarities between this team and the team that won the World Series in 2006. We are definitely in a slump right now (losing 4 of 5, and Smoltz just gave up a grand slam as I type this to the Reds) but hopefully become hot again when the postseason starts. I'd much rather be in a slump now then come October ;)

And ugh, the Red Sox made it. Those assholes :p

If the Cards win it all this year,we'll never hear the end of it!;)

Breathe babe, breathe :D(*8*)

OMG but I just can't wait!!!!!!!! :sex: *|* (*8*)

LOL Well, when the Cardinals won in 2006, it was one of the best days of my life so far. And yes, I did cry like a little bitch. :D

I just heart playoff baseball! And it feels like it outside, so that makes it even better! :=D:

(holy smilies, Abs...)

Detroit Tigers is my hometeam. They are now the 2009 version of the 2007 New York Mets.

Shameful!

I think New York Yankees will win the pennant in the AL.

With ties to Colorado, I'll root for Colorado Rockies to win the pennant in the NL. (My initial feeling is that the league's Championship Series will be won by Los Angeles Dodgers. I'm not confident with this.)

All in all, I look forward to the MLB 2009 season, as a whole (regular and post season), being over.
