The Official 2009 MLB Thread!

Mets fans have a park to finally crow about!:gogirl:

I am also an architecture nerd Sausy, so you know I've been keeping tabs on this stadium!

It does look quite nice! Is the flight path still the same as Shea? :p

OMG it's seriously going to be cold as shit here tomorrow. I would hope that sunshine, whilst still cold, on Tuesday, would be the best double header ever :) plus I'm not working tom. or Tues.!

Love him or hate him Greg Maddux is an awesome pitcher. So it is great to hear the Braves will honor him by retiring his No. 31 this summer.

Maddux will be inducted into the Braves Hall of Fame on July 17
and his number will be retired during an on-field ceremony prior to a game against the Mets. THE METS!!! #-o

It's ok though, I love seing the great ones recognized.:=D:

Yep,I'm afraid we couldn't get the City of New York to move La Guardia,LOL!

Hey,you'll be warm wearing your new Cardinals hoodie!Hope you have a great time at tomorrow's twin bill and the Cards sweep!

Agree with you, sonny. We're Mets fans but also fans of great baseball, and Greg Maddux for years was a master craftsmen of pitching,at first with the Cubbies.(Of course they had to give up on him, those schmucks!)Most prominently, though for Atlanta anchoring a great starting threesome along with Tom Glavine and John Smoltz.Oh,they gave the Mets many great battles!Maddux is also a great person and represented Atlanta and baseball proudly...|

And it also doesn't bother me they are honoring Greg Maddux the same day they play the Mets;)Beating the Mets that day would bother me,though!:grrr:

On a depressing note,Atlanta won over the Phillies last night 4-1,Derek Lowe getting the win pitching eight brilliant innings,no runs and two hits allowed! If Omar Minaya did what the great GMs do and pounce when the opportunity arose,he may have landed Lowe rather than wait til his asking price dropped.Atlanta needed him to help bring their staff back to respectability....he's off to a great start and Mets fans are going to sweat three years with Ollie Perez.Damn!

At least the Mets won in Cincinatti today 2-1,great job by Johann Santana and Sean Green, set up man extraodinaire JJ Putz, and peerless closer Francisco Rodriguez.Daniel Murphy knocked in both Met runs with a single and solo homer.

Doesn't take much does it ABS

Um, duh.

And are you fucking kidding me? WORST OPENING DAY EVER. It was snowing at 9 am, and was cold as hell. THEN, we give up 4 runs in the top of the ninth - not to mention with a division "rival."

WTF. What a waste.

Oh that we knew,LOL!They played today?:eek:In those conditions?:eek:Not cool at all!:##:

Sorry to hear on top of all that you had to put up with, the Cards blew the game. They should have given out free parkas to the first 1,000 attending!

^ They should've given out something free, like rocks, that I could throw at them

It was snowing at 9 am this morning, but was just cold for the game. Holy shit.

I do feel bad for Jason Motte, since it was essentially his rookie effort in the closer position. A fucking bases clearing double? With one strike away from winning the game?

An interesting look from the fans' perspective...

And I agree. Mozeliak did shit in the off season, even after saying "he was going to be aggressive..."

Oh, and don't even get me started on what's going to be "next" to Busch Stadium for the All Star game this year....

:grrr::grrr::grrr:

Abs,you just love to find any excuse to show off that throwing arm!:pYep....putting someone without any regular season experience in that position after all the Cards problems with Jason Isringhausen reinjuring himself and being ineffective, and finding no one who could stabilize the closer spot....Mozeliak fucked up.That he had failed to remedy this and left an alleged contender without a proven closer,or at least finding an efective stopgap til one could be groomed or acquired when saying he was going to be aggresive is inexcusable on his part.

Your guys gave the team the opportunity to win.To lose like this, that just plain sucks.I'd feel kinda sorry for the kid too.

Oh, and don't even get me started on what's going to be "next" to Busch Stadium for the All Star game this year....

:grrr::grrr:
I take it NOT the Baseball Village!;)Boy,we're still going to have to wait til 2011 or 2012 for the first All Star game at CitiField.:(

Oh we just gotta win that game. By the way, I am still waitin for one of our boys to homer in Atlanta and run the bases givin the chop to the Braves fans :p.

I'm tellin you guys, i said it earlier this month, watch out for those Braves this year. They ae comin back

At least the Mets won in Cincinatti today 2-1,great job by Johann Santana and Sean Green, set up man extraodinaire JJ Putz, and peerless closer Francisco Rodriguez.Daniel Murphy knocked in both Met runs with a single and solo homer.

It was awesome to see that 1-2-3 punch from our bullpen. It has been a while since we saw that. :=D:
Man oh man, Daniel (the Irish Hammer) Murphy he just lights up ther Mets :D

Great start to the baseball season, METS win, and Yanks lose!

Yeah I hear ya dude, NY fans either go Mets or Yanks, rarely both and the rivalry is fun. But because they are in different leagues I don't mind when the Yanks win.
I would love a subway series this year. :D

I want to have Albert Pujols' man babies. He is so good at baseball it's absolutely recockulous.

If only he could keep his .750 BA going for the rest of the year ;)

But a 9-3 Cardinal win is always fun! Yadi had a triple!!!

I heart baseball.

Phillies lose AGAIN

Sausy I have reason to be pessimistic

I'm know the Philly teams and the cheap owners all to well. :(

Yeah you guys really gave Snell an ass kicking.

But of course that's what Snell does, starts of every season awful.
This year was prolly worse cause, and I hate to beat a dead horse here,
but Snell had a much shorter spring training, and did not see a whole lot of time on the mound. I keep sayin we are gonna see the reults of that series for a couple of months. I did not see the game but I know he gave up bombs to both Chris Duncan and Albert Pujols and something like eight runs in four innings. How was his sinker?, that's his pitch

*sits quietly, says nothing.*

[-XScrub,your guys are world champs!Stop thinking like a Cubbie fan!(*8*)

*sits quietly, says nothing.*
Sonny!:(At least give Scrub a hug....and cross your fingers behind your back when she can't see it!:p

Glad to hear the Cards did a lot better and left their fans much happier than Monday's debacle,Abs!

Nats lose AGAIN!
Marlins 6, Nationals 4 Final

Nats 0 - 3
Gumby, looks like your guys are getting in position for another great draft pick!;)

Hey Cory, did you know Sausy and my David Wright and your Albert Pujols have a great stat they share togther?.
They are the only two players in baseball history to ever have 4 consecutive years with 25 HR and 40 Doubles. :D

Hello Sonny

Hello here sweethart, Sausy has shamed me into sending you this:
(*8*)(*8*)(*8*);)

After all, I don't hate the Phillies....yet.
I can accept the fact that they just did what the Mets could not do last year.
I have to give them the respect they deserve....for now.

It's a new beginning a clean slate, so we need to bury the hatchet (Braves pun intended) and get out there and fight for the '09 championship
