The Official 2009 MLB Thread!

So with the Mets coming to St Louis next week I guess we won't have
Chris Carpenter to deal with. Carpenter is expected to miss 4-8 weeks of action
with a torn left oblique muscle.

Sorry to hear that for Cards fans but with that dude pitching ten scoreless innings this season,
I can't say I feel to bad not to face him.

Or maybe he he decided to go on the DL now to avoid having to face the
Mets offense. :p

*hides for Abs* :help:

Nice to see a MLB thread that's actually about baseball and not how cute or sexy certain players are (although it doesn't hurt to check them out).

Looks like the same story for my Dbacks again, decent starting pitching, shaky bullpen and NO hitting. The GM did absolutely NOTHING to get a bat to help out the lineup. Haren continues to pitch out of his mind, but nobody is hitting to support him. Webb's injury might be worse than they're saying. I know that fans are going to start asking for Melvin's head on a platter, but it's the GM who should get fired, since we cant fire the owner (Kendrick) who ultimately gives the orders. I know the season just started, but we really needed to start strong since 18 out of our first 21 games were going to be at home.

Looks like LA will win the division hands down and probably the surprising Padres finish 2nd and my babyBacks 3rd.

Doesn't that just suck ass?

Oh and I will find you...

Ugh. After losing yesterday to the fucking Cubs in the bottom of the 8th, we lose again in extra innings...I thought we were going to win both of those games which would have been huge! :(

C'mon Cards! Show me some love!

How bad is it going for the 1-10 Washington Nationals? Last Saturday night vs. the Florida Marlins two Nationals players Ryan Zimmerman and Adam Dunn wore misspelled uniforms. Here is Adam Dunn's "Natinals" jersey.

BREAK UP THE NATIONALS! Holy cow, they won, and the "new" bullpen actually protected a lead! Great debut by Jordan Zimmerman, if only the Nationals could find about 23 more Zimmermans, they'd have a great team. Thought it a great move by the team in getting rid of the vermin disguised as relief pitchers after Sunday's debacle. Let's see 'em sweep the Braves.

Nationals 4, Braves 3 Final :gogirl:

(3-10) two wins in-a-row.....
I love underdogs:D(except against the Mets);)and I hope the Nats will be pesky, especially against the unholy trinity of the Braves,Phillies, and Cards:badgrin:I'm sure the Marlins will find a way to self destruct. They've already got two world titles and especially after tonight I'm in no mood to be charitable!Frakkin' Ollie Perez! If MLB wins and losses were based on the first four innings,Ollie would be Cy Young ten times over, but he has this unfortunate tendency to fly apart and not pitch with a clue in the fifth innings.Apparently giving him three years and 36 mil hasn't changed that!

Xavier Nady got some good news on his right elbow on Tuesday; he won't need season-ending surgery. The injury has been diagnosed as a ligament strain.

I read that today and am glad he probably will play again this season after resting the elbow and undergoing rehabilation.Good guy and good presence as well as a solid player.

Hey sonny and Sausy...

How bout them bones???? ;)

Although, I think you should've won Tuesday game but..

ya know! :p

A sweep, nonetheless? We can all hope for a :gogirl:

What did Maine bring again? Oh wait. I do hope he gets healthy cause he is good shit..

However - sonny and Sausy owe me something....

:badgrin::badgrin:

All I'm gonna say Abs is we're lulling your Cards to sleep with our ineptitude for their next visit to CitiField(June 22-25,four game epic series...marked right on my calendar!):badgrin:They've also got a two game one in the beginning of August(I'm scheduled off that week,so me and my brother may go to one of the games)(!)Six games to make your Cards go from red to blue!!!

Seriously, your guys deserve both wins....Tuesday we had the edge early but the Cards had the fight.Ollie sucked in the fifth, our defense wasn't great,JJ Putz collapsed and the offense stalled last few innings, none of the breaks went our way.Wednesday John Maine was very ordinary and they made him pay,and I don't know when he'll really be all right again....our offense was shit again. If you guys sweep tomorrow,of course sonny and I will be disappointed but how can we get mad...Abs gotta show the love for his beloved Birdnals!:D

Of course, again I say just wait til your guys get to CitiField!

We'll never live down though the Daniel Murphy flop on his ass misplay in left field....that must have been quite entertaining to you!;)

We all just sure do love our baseball!

Your guys deserved the sweep,no doubt. We played like crap.:(12-8 today Mets losing to Cards....pathetic.

I'm just gonna say wait til the rematch at CitiField....June 22-25 and August4-5.It will be MUCH different!

Love how you play it subtle btw,Abs!:p

Yeah at leat his posts were not full of dancing bananas :D Cory did the right thing, he gave us a little razz without being obnoxious about it. (*8*)
Like you said saucy the Cards deserved those wins.

I had to laugh when those St Louis fans booed when Pujols was intentionally walked in the 6th after he hit the ball out of the park at every other at bat.
Come on St Louis fans whadda think we are nutz, giving that beast another crack at the bat,
he's Albert freakin Pujols for Gods sake. We aren't stupid ya know.
Sad thing is Albert ending up scoring from first anyways.
But then even I was a little embarrassed when we did the same thing to Ankiel in the same inning, it was like "Oh please don't hurt us anymore"

Love ya Abs

Yeah, we boo because we want to see him hit. But as you stated, he is Albert freaking Pujols, and it's like watching god bat.

I wasn't going to mash it in your faces that you got swept. I know how that feels. It sucks ass, and not in a good way!

Anywho, ya never know - the tables could turn when we come to Citi for the first time! :gogirl:

OMG CARDS/CUBS THIS WEEKEND!!!!! EEEEEEEE!!!

I wonder if they'll show me on TV tomorrow?!?! I'll be the guy with a beer in his hand, drunk, and yelling. Oh wait #-o

I really heart beating the Cubs - anywhere, anytime, any place.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

(even though I had some slight mild heart attacks during the game, a "W" will work for me!)

:D

Abs,as per your statement in GL's thread that the Cubs are like the Yankees....only the Cubs fans love em,the rest of the country hates em ...one little problem. The Yanks have 26 WS rings and a number of WS appearances in the past 89 years.Yankees and their fans have all that history and all those rings to comfort them, they can live with all the hatin' nationwide. The Cubs have well, nada since 1908.And only two overall, anyway so long ago who counts them anyway?

The Cubs just suck.:pI know you are relishing EVERY moment of that victory over the Cubs.(!)I don't know.....the Cards giving it to the Cubbies always gives you that special glow!:p
:p
Sonny, the sweeping broom pic Abs posted was kind of a little" in your face!";)
And yes,Abs....it WILL be different when we face the Birdnals at CitiField!
