I loved seeing those Phillies go down (careful Abs)
Too bad the Mets could not take advantage and gain some ground in the NL East
Speaking of Scrub, where is she? hiding under her bed again ?
I do feel bad for any Phillies fan right now as there team disentergrates right befroe their eyes. Welcome to the world of a Met's fan :(

We might do okl against the Dodgers but let's be real, the Cards will eat us for lunch and spit us out. :help:

The Mets are a mess and whoda thought it would be because of the offense instead of pitching.
I think saucy and I both need this (*8*)
three straight Cards losses, including the last two to the hated, despised, reviled Cubbies...Mets,be afraid Tuesday.Be VERY afraid!:help::cry:

Another dreary Mets tease and loss in 13...Loney vs Perez, guess who wins?!!!No offense to speak of,and David is styling now on his ever increasing repertoire of demoralizing strikeouts! We're getting key guys in the worst kind of cold streaks...Bay is coming out but D Wright is the new Mets killer on offense....he's trying,we know that...but strikeouts aren't conducive to winning baseball...David always has considered driving in runs and getting on base the most crucial elements of his game, and someone has got to find a way to get him going again like he did gangbusters in June.At least Pelfrey was able to finally get through five without stinking up the place, but you knew Oliver Perez coming into the game was somehow inevitably gonna end very, very badly!

Cards don't play bad ball for long, and just got Ryan Ludwick back.I'm sure they'll land Oswalt or Haren by this time next week to solidify them for the stretch drive.Just don't want them getting on the road back on the backs of the Mets...but I don't see a consistency vibe with the Mets that makes me feel comfortable they can take 10 of 12 again anytime soon.To see the dark cloud in a sliver of a silver lining has become the conditioning of the New York Met fan.:(

Roy Oswalt is a Phillie now, after saying he's reject a trade to the Phillies....I had thought he was going to St. Louis if anywhere, but I guess Houston either loved the Philly offer very much(Got that kid Happ who could be REALLY good on the mound,if he puts together his top notch stuff).Mets beat the Cards today,4-0,taking the series at CitiField(sorry Abs,well no,okay yea:pbut I digress)but the Phillies acquisition of Oswalt put a damper on things. They've got Halladay now,Hamels is rediscovering his Cy Young form of 2008 and now Oswalt, tied lifetime for leader in victories as a Houston Astro.Philly was as good as dead a month or so ago,but now they not only have a pulse but are roaring back into the race in the NL East.I loathe the Phillies!:grrr:

Though I believe somewhere,Scrub is smiling and sticking her tongue out at Mets fans!:p

Good move by the Nationals to put Stephen Strasburg on the DL,shoulder inflammation isn't believed to have any long term serious ramifications but Stephen and the Nats organization believe he is just hitting the proverbial pitching wall, going farther than his arm has been used to going in his career so far.I'm glad to hear no structural damage,he's a young man with an awful lot of talent and better to be cautious now and close up shop for awhile than risk serious arm problems down the road.

Marlins sent Jorge Cantu to Texas....the Rangers have been aggressive getting Cliff Lee and Cantu for the pennant drive but are they only going to hang around for this season?Ranger organization financial uncertainty don't point them to have the resources and wherewithall to commit signing Cliff Lee after the season when he's eligible to be a free agent....and will have several bigger market clubs lined up ASAP to anchor their rotations for the next four or five years.I tell you,his control and command the past several seasons have been unreal,he's so pinpoint and economical.

Thank you Brendan Ryan for your game winning RBI!

It's about time we fucking won a game, especially after the Mets should've bent us over and swept us :p

First place baby! (!)

Even though my boy is in his old Rockies uniform, how can you not want to lick his face slash arms??? !oops!

mattholliday1237852752.jpg
Holy fuck that's hot!(*S*)

Sausy's gotta go cool off a little now!!oops!

Yankees get Lance Berkman from Houston for the last two months of the season....he may go back after he becomes a free agent this winter but he is a professional hitter, all out gritty player with a great personality for New York...he should do fine

Roy Oswalt probably went to the Phillies instead of St. Louis because no how no way Houston was going to help one of its divisional rivals...Though the way he pitched tonight in his first game with the Phillies guess the Cardinals can breathe a sigh of relief. If the Cards really want someone bad enough, they'll be active by the deadline or through August's waiver wire deals....read that a number of really interesting if pricey players may well not get claimed making deals a lot easier

Hoping the Mets do something today by the 4pm deadline...and I don't count them trading Mike Jacobs to the Blue Jays yesterday as a real move.:grrr:I knew when Jose Reyes booted that grounder opening the 6th somehow it was gonna end badly for the Mets!:(

Cards gave up on Ryan Ludwick to wind up getting Jake Westbrook?:confused:That is too much...the guy was a solid contributor on the field and in the lineup, and Jake Westbrook is like a ton of pitchers the Cards could have acquired in the August waiver period.Jake's aii'ight as a fourth starter, but Ludwick makes far more of an impact as a day to day player...and Jake hasn't really been that good in a few years.Ted Lilly would have been better, but then, yeah, you know the Cubs would just LOVE to help out the Cards, wouldn't they?(rolling eye smilie insert here, lol)That was one three way that sucked for sure.

One of the most exhilirating games ever,5-4 Mets win it in the bottom of the ninth...wanna give syam and sonny the opportunity to give us the very happy recap:D(Mets Hall of Fame Weekend, the best of the 80's Mets...yay!)(!)

Arlington and Alexandria are great, and the rest of northern VA is hit or miss. The town of Leesburg isn't worth much.

Since the cabal of have's in the MLB continues to rip off lesser teams for elite players (I'm looking at YOU, Ed Wade/Astros and YOU, Phillies/Oswalt/Amaro), I'm seriously wondering if I can even stomach another moment of this MLB season.

I'm so disgusted with what's happened to this game. I'm so tired of hearing how, "it's not how much money you spend, it's how wisely you spend it!" Yes, well that's all fine and well, except the medium and small market teams seem content to just spend their money on garbage and employ imbeciles like Ed Wade who have no concept of how to run a baseball team.

If the rest of the league is going to roll over for teams such as the Phillies and Yankees, then I'll divert my attention elsewhere.

Hopefully, the worst will not happen.

Go Rays, fuck the MLB. Peace.

Thanks for the clarification, razor on what's good and not so good in Northern Virginia.

As a Mets fan,I wasn't thrilled with the Oswalt acquisition by the Phillies and I dread that the Yankees are going to wind up with Cliff Lee next year anyway. The more teams in it going into September the better for the game...it would be great to see Tampa go far,not just the big money clubs and I hope you don't give up on MLB.Even your Nats have the potential to be a very competitive team, headlined by Steve Strasburg(had a tough game tonight, and has had a dead arm,hit the wall period which I know concerns a lot of fans in Washington but he'll be fine)and incredible offensive prospect, outfielder Bryce Harper(rumored to have a huge ego,a very self centered, immature streak but as a hitter is a virtuoso almost without compare at his age)in a year or two.

Yea,Brandon Phillips, way to go!Just get the Cards even more motivated, get a brawl going after you dis them publicly as "whiners"....beat your Reds 8-4 and collectively hand you an official stfu slapdown!Bet your Reds teammates even wanted to join them after the results of this game....though I'm surprised Scott Rolen took on Chris Carpenter though he apparently apologized to him shortly afterwards.I'm sure Abs loved the results!;)

Brandon Phillips is a punk and only Reds fans would agree with what he said.
Bitches? I think not, just a sad statement from a very sad little man
Did Molina exasperate the situation by moving Phillips' bat with his leg and making the two of end up face-to-face and then exchange words and letting each other know how much they hate each other and their family too. You bet your ass he did. I loved it.
It all good I love a great rivalry, and the Cards and Reds have a great one going right now. That brawl was more about first place than anything else The Reds can’t stand the fact that in spite of all they do they can’t be the Cards who are still the dominating force that they have been for the past five years and beyond. Message to Bud Selig, no suspensions please, the fans loved it both teams loved it, we all loved it, let it be. Maybe you cold spend more of your time figuring out what to do about those maple bats that break way too often before someone gets killed.

Cards sweep Reds and now their fans(we know of one at least);)are jazzed as Brandon Phillips and the Reds were grand slammed away by Colby Rasmus in 6-1 romp, the Adam Wainwright express moving on through.....and this delightful appetizer(served with egg on face of Brandon Phillips, the Reds formerly big mouthed;)second baseman) leads into a Cubs main course visiting the Windy City for a weekend buttkick...er,series.

And Robert....thought the Yankees were going to get swept by your beloved Rangers?:pWell, you took two of three at least....that's something.;)Surprised though the Yanks finally were able to get to Cliff Lee,he's been remarkable since the trade from Cincinatti, and they were able to get to the Rangers young closer....Marcus Thames of all people getting the game winning hit in a 7-6 victory.

More accurately ... it was a two-game series that was a split and Cliff Lee was traded from Seattle to Texas.

It was a devastating loss for the Yankees on Tuesday night in 10 innings and judging from the look on Nolan Ryan's face it was a devastating loss for the Rangers on Wednesday night (leadoff triple in the ninth, runner stranded).

Thanks for the correction, flyingfree!oops!Thought it was a three game series, and why I posted Cliff Lee was traded from Cincinatti,well....that really is!oops!I mean,he's gone in the past year from Cleveland to Philadelphia to Seattle to Texas, how I thought of Cincinatti in the mix,I'll never know.#-o

The good thing about the Rangers is they have Nolan Ryan fronting that investment group that finally was able to purchase and bring stability to the club.It was an excruciatingly tough loss for the Rangers allowing Marcus Thames of all people get that winning run in...Yankees had been very up and down recently and getting a sweep would have been a very sweet victory for the Rangers.Love the fact they are so competitive this year but wonder if Lee wants to really re-up with them in the offseason, almost being traded to the Yankees before the Mariners enticed the Rangers to add promising prospect Justin Smoak.Lee is very friendly with former Cleveland teammate and current Yankee ace CC Sabathia, and had believed the trade was inevitable and was excited by it.

I loved it.

I haven't been around this week (stupid work ) but you bet your sweet asses I was watching all of this shit go down... ..|

I think I got a little hard watching the Cards vs. Reds series. All of it was completely phenomenal! The whole BP trash talk, the fight behind the dugout in the first inning... twas all glorious.

Especially the whole Yadi/BP event at home plate. I would have done the same thing - evidently Yadi said "I am not your bitch" and then shit just hit the fan...

I was screaming at the top of my lungs watching it! :D

Fuck you Reds, you ignited a spark in us which we need two months ago.

A win tonight verses the Cubs makes it 4 in a row - I'm going to the game tomorrow, and hopefully I don't sweat my nuts off

(but it's baseball, so suck it up, Abs!)

(*8*) to everyone in this thread to a fantastic upcoming end to the official baseball season! I hope the Cards whip your asses in the postseason ;)

I know our boy Abs has been spending a lot of time in the fetal position these days with what has been going on with the Cardinals. But there was a bright spot yesterday when Pujols got his 400th home run.
Congrats to arguably the best player in the game today.
Feel better Abs (*8*)
things could be worse; you could be a Mets fan.

Hey, hey ABS

I see the Phillies are in a better place then those Cards. :p

Better be nice

Yeah, I'm glad that the Ryan/Greenberg group was announced as the winners of the final auction to purchase the Rangers. I just couldn't see Mark Cuban at the helm. All they need is final approval from the Major League. Looks like Ryan is staying on as the Ranger's President. I see good things in the future for the TEXAS RANGER! ..|
Know you've always been a Rangers fan and it's nice to see them doing well and having a chance to become a stable franchise with Texas' own Nolan Ryan(Maybe only Satchel Paige threw as hard for as long as Nolan did, blazing fastballs by opponents into his mid forties)at the helm.Josh Hamilton is an AMAZING story, getting off track but blessed with so much talent and drive and glad to see him showing just how good he can be hopefully having his drig and alcohol demons under control, though the fight will still be one day at a time.

Mark Cuban would have been fun but you're right,I just didn't see that working either.

I knew those Phillies would be back like crabgrass!:cry:Cards fan?Try being a Mets fan!:(Happy to see Scrub around(*8*):kiss:and will admit I respect and admire the Phillies :Deven as I hate their cheesesteak greasy guts!!!:grrr:Wish the Mets had the organiaztion depth, toughness and professionalism as much as it pains me to type in these words!

Don't give up Sausy, the Mets will one day shine, just not this year.

Don't give up Sausy, the Mets will one day shine, just not this year.
Aw,thanks,Scrub.:kiss:The Phillies are the team to beat, they know what it takes to get there.Sonny is really into the Mets minor league system and attends every Brooklyn Cyclones game he can get to...and he's really big on the players they have this year, and some of those who started off with the Cyclones the past few years are wiith the Mets now doing good things. It'll be our time soon, hopefully we'll be able to have the same kind of toughness and professionalism the Phillies possess that has gotten them where they are the past three seasons.

Yea,noticed the Cards have been having all kinds of trouble lately with teams they should roll over.:eek:I don't think Abs is in a panic though it hasn't been too fun this August for them, and hopefully they'll be able to turn it around for the September drive.
