** The Official 2010 MLB Thread! **

.It could be MUCH worse....you could be a Mets fan and crying in a corner in a fetal position right now.Perez can't pitch in warm climates or cold temps so no more excuses, get him the hell out of the rotation and like sonny said in his Mets thread send him to AAA Buffalo and work himself into a semblance of a creditable imitation of a major league pitcher with the pitching coach there. He is a big time project now and the Mets cannot keep sending him out there anymore. He's all over the place and one of the most fundamentally deficient starting hurlers out there...his golden arm once was enough to get by with but he doesn't blow it by anyone that much anymore.

And now John Maine threw a stinker tonight in Florida. We get some offense finally and we get this. Our staters either suck,or our relievers blow the game,or our heart of the order is striking out like crazy and not doing anything with the ball when they put in in play,or are getting robbed by Roger Bernadina:cry:](*,)](*,)](*,)](*,)](*,)](*,)](*,)](*,)

Sounds like you ned a hug babe (*8*)(*8*)(*8*)

Of course I feel your pain, as to Ollie he is refuses to go to AAA, must be a pride thing or else he is in complete denial. since he refused to go to buffalo he will be sent to the pen where he will get no help at all and just sink to lower depths. What a fool, he needs to bite that bullet go to AAA and get the help he needs.

Abs here is a couple for you as well, (*8*)(*8*)(*8*)

Hang in there babe the Cards are an outstanding team they wil rebound there is no doubt about it

Thanks babe(*8*)I knew Ollie is dead set against getting sent down to Buffalo and his delusional thinking a stint in the bullpen will make him right again,it's just so pathetic.I do feel bad for him,but I just don't think he'll ever get a clue how much he is fucking up.

I told Abs that too,the Cards will be all right. Most every team, even very good ones, will go through a bad stretch.Better get the stinkers out of the way early than let em bite you late.;)Mets sure have experience with that.:(

Ok everyone everyone needs to send a hug to Abs. (*8*)
The Cards have fallen to second place:(
Hey Abs....look at it this way, at least it wasn't the Cubs who did it ;)

And.......at least they didn't fall into the basement as the Mets did yesterday.
Saucy....hold me:cry:

Good idea sonny...sending good vibes to Abs and the Cards(*8*)(unless the Cards face the Mets for another rematch of 2006;))

Weren't we in first place two weeks ago, sonny?:(Now we're in the basement like you mentioned.Got an idea...you hold me,I'll hold you!

Can you touch me inappropriately whilst you hug me? :(

Ugh - watching them the past week has induced ulcers. I mean I know we weren't doing that well without the long ball offensively, but christ I didn't think it was that bad!

Normally, I'd say "thank GOD" we're playing the Nats, but jeez, even they have a winning record so far!

And yeah, RE, can you just roll over for the next two games please?

and omg, I've been so busy the past week, week and a half that I had no clue the Mets were in last! They were just in first not too long ago!

Btw Abs, got watch Cubs/Cards yesterday. That was great.

omg wasn't it?!? (!)

I called my brother as I was traveling home, listening to the game in my car. I was like "LOLZ they pulled their pitcher in the top of the first with no outs!"

He was also listening, and said "OK, so what is his ERA for this game? Infinity?"

:rotflmao:

Actually, I think it is!

Anywho, I'm off to some shopping, lunch, drinks, and the game with friends. :D

God I love baseball. *|*

(and sorry about the Nats - you never know - they could turn it around!)

Congrats to Roy Halladay on throwing a perfect game.

Lets hope the Nats can turn it around.
Stephen Strasburg will be called up soon. Some time in Early June. A lot of hype in this area about him.

Albert Pujols has a monster day - he hit 3 home runs! :D

The last time he did that was in 2006, and I was at that game going crazy ;)

We take two of three from the Cubbies! God I hate them...

YOU hate the Cubbies?I hadn't noticed!:pGood for Albert! He's had a quiet month for him and maybe this is just the beginning of another eruption;)

Oh,I must make note and belatedly congratulate...though...it is..eating..at every fiber...of my being:cry:Roy Halladay of the Philadelphia Phillies:D(God,I LOATHE them,:grrr:but I digress)on his 1-0 perfect game over the Florida Marlins.

Glad to see the Mets take care of the Brewers today and avoid being swept after that great stretch beating the Yanks 2 of 3 and even better, sweeping AND completely shutting out the Phillies(my personal highlight of the season so far!):luv:Why ever go to an amusement park when you're a Mets fan? It's a roller coaster thriller,up and down,in and out all year!;)

^ I was reading the comments about other Mets players saying "Get Perez the fuck out of here" tonight. Can't say that I don't agree, but who would take him?

I also hope that we continue to bend the Reds over the foot of the bed and continue thrusting like we did today! :D

Hey Abs, what’s up with the Cards signing Jeff Suppon, I mean what do you want with that?
Of course I have my issues with him after what happened in ’06 but the guy can’t pitch anymore, isn’t his ERA somewhere around 7or 8?
I will say this, if anyone can turn this guy around it’s Dave Duncan, the genius behind the Cards pitching staff, he has done that before. But it will be a challenge even for him.

^ Yeah, I'm thinking that Suppan hasn't been around the Dunc while drinking shitty beer up in Milwaukee ;)

Hopefully he can turn it around with the pitching coach master that is Dave Duncan tomorrow night in his start with the birds on the bat.

And finally, after a fucking horrid 1-7 road trip, we get a win at home versus the Mariners, who we've owned in the past couple years in interleague play.

:=D:

Here's another baseball horror story about to happen. Espn is reporting the Yankees are close to acquiring Cliff Lee from the Mariners for some castoff minor leaguers, a bag of balls and some used jock straps. It pisses me off that teams don't get any quality players from the Yankees in exchange for All Star players. And the owners just ignore it all, not requiring a salary cap to equalize things. THey keep making millions of dollars. This is one reason I spend very few dollars going to major league ballgames anymore.

I'm sure syam you've got to be thrilled Seattle pulled a Got'cha on the Yanks and moved Cliff to the Rangers instead....Cliff actually looked very disappointed on the change of plans...but with Texas in a heck of a heep of trouble financially, they gave up their best prospect to Seattle first baseman Justin Smoak and won't likely be able to re-up Cliff, meaning the Yanks would still be one of the key favorites to grab him.Though as a free agent and not a trade acquisition that would cost valuable young Mets major leaguers/prospects I really hope the Mets go after him,and don't just let the Yanks have him without a fight this offseason.

I certainly was glad to see the last minute change by the Mariners in sending Cliff Lee to Texas, and as you state, the Yankees will be waiting in the off season with bags of money at the ready for the free agent Lee. As with you, I'm hoping the Mets make an attempt at getting him. I think the Yanks will also be in pursuit of Carl Crawford, so perhaps the Yanks won't want to spend as much to try to get Lee. Wishful thinking, anyway.....

LoL @ Mets fans caring so much about what the Yankees do. Newsflash: the Braves are ahead of your asses.

and LoL @ anyone believing some rumor from ESPN that had Cliff Lee going somewhere for peanuts

Turns out that wasn't true in the least. The Mariners ended up with Justin Smoak "n thunder" for Lee. Not a bad haul - he's raw, but he has a lot of talent.
Not peanuts or cracker jack.;)Yanks had Lee for their prized catching prospect Jesus Montero, and a couple of other highly regared prospects...one was recently injured so the Mariners asked he be replaced by a certain player and the Yanks complied. Then they asked for Eduardo Nunez,a rising shortstop prospect and the Yanks were deeply suspicious of whether Seattle was going to do the trade with them at all...so long as getting the Yanks in got Texas to give up Justin Smoak.Bad for the Rangers as with their financial; situation, they gave up their best prospect for a pennant rental getting Cliff Lee.I'm a New York area guy, respect the Yankees but don't love them,my hearts with the Mets.

Spare the explanation - it was syam who called the proposed prospects "castoffs."

I hadn't heard who was supposedly a part of the trade talks. Montero isn't a bad haul either.

Why are you so certain Texas shot themselves in the foot? Smoak has a lot of potential, but he's been unspectacular thus far (a clone of their other lackluster corner infielder Chris Davis) and there are concerns as to whether he can hit lefties.
I was under the impression that Smoak was someone who really was expected to become a star, not aware that he does have the potential but also generates some concerns....Texas did seem to want Smoak a little more than Montero, who has been disappointing this year compared to how he had progressed his first couple of seasons.

Well, I'm always hoping they didn't shoot themselves in the foot. I'm just pissed because I went to see them play Friday and Saturday night and they lost! :(

I'm always going to be a fan whether they win or lose!
I've known you a true blue Rangers fan for years, hoping their financial situation gets remedied.Josh Hamilton is healthy again and he looks incredible....hope he can stay healthy,he's a great story and talent!

I was sad too. Can't stand the scumbag Orioles and their glorified mobster of an owner.

Also, it'd be nice if a team other than the Angels were to win the west for once. >_<
I love Camden Yards, but never liked Peter Angelos,he's destroyed the franchise.

It would be nice to see someone win the West besides the Angels,agreed.....not an LA area fan, either league at all.Seattle hasn't done nearly as well as expected,Oakland has seen better days.Hopefully Texas can continue to do well and take the division, they definitely have showed a lot so far leading the West.

Bob Sheppard, the stately voice of the Yankees from 1950-2007,died today at 99.No one could do intros like him,Derek Jeter still goes to the plate under his intro....very close to the professorial announcer whose pefect diction style was his unmistakeable trademark. He had not been well in recent years, too weak to return to work.Fitting he would pass right as the All Star break arrived...sure there will be a moment of silence on his memory Tuesday night and his dignified presence will be missed.

When I heard the news I thoiught, I should post that in Abs' thread.
Of course I shudda knew you would have it covered my friend (*8*)
Everyone who speaks of Bob has pretty much the same message, Bod was a true gentlemen and a giant in his field loved by all who knew him.
A moment of silence at the All Star game is a must

Well,I knew somehow syam and Pazor were probably not going to get around to saying anything nice about the Yankees;)Bob just was one of a kind, never gonna hear someone quite like him again.Thanks,sonny(*8*)I just thought someone of his stature should be recognized, ironically happening on the eve of all Star weekend.Usually it's baseball announcers that make that kind of impact, but Bob Sheppard was a true Yankee Doodle Dandy!I'm sure he'll get the low key and dignified sendoff on Tuesday and when the Yanks return home that was the essential Bob Sheppard...he wouldn't have wanted it any other way
