American Music Awards Nominations List 2009!

Paula Abdul joins Adam Lambert and Snoop Dogg in announcing the American Music Awards (AMAs) nominees from the Beverly Hills Hotel on Tuesday (October 13).

Announced as performs this year: Alicia Keys, Black Eyed Peas, Jennifer Lopez and Adam Lambert, who will debut his first single from his forthcoming album. (Same old, same old..........)

Why don't they just Fucking name all these Music award shows the Beyonce/Alecia Keys happy-Hour? Great artists but give me a break...

God rest The King of Pop's Soul but just because his OLD CD's sold like hot-cakes does not qualify him for a Nomination. "This is it" single was just released this week..

And all they gave Whitney Houston's "Look to You" was a "Hell to the Nah"..

My point exctly Dude...I'd have no problem with AMA giving him some kind of LifeTime achievement or even a segment where other artists sing in tribute..That's fine..But Nominations for his fucking Compilation CD?

Most of these award shows have no credibility. Basically popularity contest. Mostly based on who votes or sales. Aren't sales basically votes?

Then you have the "prestigious" ones like the Grammy awards. Totally irrelevant at this point. Nothing more than marketing by the tired old "music industry".

Maybe Whitney Houston's CD was not released in time to qualify for the AMA? Didn't her label move up the release by one day for possible Grammy eligibility?
Really doesn't matter. This release is not worthy of any awards. This is substandard material for a once vocally gifted talent. No matter how many copies it sells. No matter what chart position it attains. No matter what. it's a mediocre release.

She could possibly garner multiple grammy nominations. She is the drama the Academy rallies behind. Ex- superstar hits rockbottom (lol). Returns to Svengali. Produces short lived #1 cd. I can see the ads in the trade papers already...for your consideration.

I think everybody knows that the AMAs is a popularity contest with their nominations, but does anyone find it odd that Michael Jackson is nominated for his number ones album that came out like 3 or 4 years ago and artist of the year. It obvious their doing it because he died, which isn't right. Im shocked that Whitney got snubbed out of nominations as well as Beyonce for artist of the year. artist of the year eminem ....please.

The AMA's nominations are based on SALES. Being that Whitney's album was just released, it didn't have a chance to make the cut. Simple.

I'm kind of shocked that Michael Jackson has so many nominations as well. I'm not really excited about many of the nominations, it is pretty much the same people in multiple categories.

Sidenote -- Whitney Houston still holds the record for most AMA wins by a female. Would be nice if she got a special mention or something. I remember one year they showed a video montage of Whitney accepting her awards.

Can someone explain to me why holding "the record for most AMA wins by a female" for something that has no credibility matters? A mantle full of worthlessness is still worthless no matter how much you have.
