Re: Is Beyonce a legend? This generation's greatest entertainer?

Absolutely not.

Re: Is Beyonce a legend? This generation's greatest entertainer?

As for taking her spot, I don't think so. Being an Entertainer you need the whole package; singing, dancing and stage presence. Jennifer beats Beyonce in voice by a bit, but that's debatable. It depends on control. Beyonce has an above average voice, at least in my opinion, but most of the time doesn't get too much notice since her pop, catchy songs overshadows the fact that she does have a solid voice. Jennifer can't dance and her songs are mostly midtempo, ballads and slow songs. Unless she has the ability as Celine and Mariah, I doubt she'll be there soon.

do you realize that beyonce actually has choreographers that teach her her dance moves? in other words, she CAN'T dance and if you pay close attention to her videos, you'll notice that she can't dance because she looks all off rhythm and is only following moves someone else taught her to do. she's no james brown, michael jackson, or usher. most of these artists that you see dancing around with a bunch of other people cannot dance and enlist the services of choreographers that teach them their moves as well as how to move around on the stage and etc. don't get it twisted. you're giving her too much props for things that she isn't even behind to begin with. the only thing i could give her is that she can somewhat hold a note even though she can't sing that good and her songwriting abilities (if she writes her music which i think i heard not too long ago, she doesn't write her songs, only sings them). otherwise, she's another britney spears where everybody else pulls the strings for her. other people pretty much created her, she never created herself. there's a whole entire team behind her that plots her every move. if she was that good, she would be at least in control of a bit of an aspect of what she does in her music or her dancing. she doesn't even do that.

beyonce and britney spears are one of the same except beyonce is a bit more bearable than britney spears even though they are cut from the same cloth.

Again, you need to do research. She's in the dance studio coming up with routines along with others. I'm sure Usher and MJ had some as well. Even if it was completely due to choreographers, she pulls it off well. When I see her, or other people I've heard say "Damn, she can dance." Rihanna, Lady GaGa and Britney have choreographers. What's their excuse for not being able to pull them off? They're taught as well. Britney's first few CD eras, she was dancing her ass off, why has she fallen off? Beyonce is consistent and makes you believe she created the dance. She's using her OWN hands and feet (with 5 inch heels no less), so please tell me, how isn't she dancing?

Re: Is Beyonce a legend? This generation's greatest entertainer?

No.

Yes to Michael and Madonna.
No to Mariah. People remember Brittney Spears, Backstreet Boys, Nsync more than her, and Mariah wasn't even the most successful female artist of the 90's. Celine Dion was more popular worldwide for sure and just as popular in the states. Shania Twain was enormous during the 90's, as was Whitney Houston, though less so.
Lady Gaga is on her way, but we will see. Still got a few years left :P

Beyonce is great, but she does lipsync and she is not a legend, but she is on her way. Lets see her still sell out arenas 30 years into her career like Celine and Madonna do, and then we can call her a Legend. Also, Beyonce isn't the top selling female artist of this past decade.. idk where someone got that from. It's actually Brittney Spears then Celine Dion. [Celine stan over here lol I know her stats though I dont talk mess]

Mariah WAS the most successful female artist of the 90's. You need to check your facts. She has a #1 single every year of the 90's, including the longest running #1 song in history and three songs that debuted at #1. Her vocal style and range influenced numerous female artists to come after her. Her collaboration with O.D.B for the "Fantasy" remix was highly influential and she penned a song that has become a Christmas staple. She wrote her own material (one of the few divas to actually do so). The 90's were definitely hers.

And NO, Beyonce is not a legend.

Re: Is Beyonce a legend? This generation's greatest entertainer?

Marketing legend? Yes. Music Legend? No. It takes more than high heels and some ass shaking to really work a crowd. Pink, Marilyn Manson, Adele, to name but a few, people like that can do as much or as little as they want on stage and the focus is on music and show everytime, not "By the way, MERCH!"

Re: Is Beyonce a legend? This generation's greatest entertainer?

No she is definitely not a legend. I mean for goodness sake she cant sing or dance, does not have of her own music. Shame the poor thing. And the marketing guys go put her on the stage to make a fool of herself and then rake in the money. Defo not cool IMO.

You look at this and tell me she can't sing. This isn't her best; it doesn't include vocals from her I Am.. era and beyond. By your first post, however, something tells me you will still say she can't sing. But everyone has their opinion.

Re: The Official BEYONCE thread

In the words of Beyonce herself, had me feeling déjà vu...

... just sayin'.

Re: Is Beyonce a legend? This generation's greatest entertainer?

Beyonce is the singer of our time. Lady Gagy is Madonna 2011 -- all about everything BUT her music.

Beyonce is a musician first. Gaga and Madonna are attention whores first.

Re: Is Beyonce a legend? This generation's greatest entertainer?

Overrated. Her acting is abismal to the point of being offensive that she gets roles like dreamgirls and worked alongside steve martin. Her voice is average, amplified by microphone tricks which make her sound powerful, her music is godawful and the sillest part of her success is how she can walk, throw her hair around and people call it dancing.

She sells because shes lightskinned and pretty and has a killer team behind her. Shes the epitome of a manufactured pop tart. In my opinion if theres any female legend its lauryn hill . Original lyrics, DEEP lyrics beyond "can you pay my bills" and "all my single ladies". Most importantly lauryn hill proves that women artists can be heard without having to be seen gyrating in panties and bouncing her breasts. She is more concerned with playing her guitar than being a karaoke barbie doll.

My worry about beyonce is that her success teaches young girls that its more important to be pretty than to be smart. These skanks in our country are contracting stds at 13 and 14, do we really need someone selling them a sexed up image on a platter?

But some of her songs are cute. :)

Re: Is Beyonce a legend? This generation's greatest entertainer?

I find her to be mostly boring.

Re: The Official BEYONCE thread

Ahhhh, what if she's just paying homage to Brit! Don't the choreographers come up with the routine anyways?!

She's still an amazing performer and I love her.

Re: The Official BEYONCE thread

^;) I'm just teasing. I saw the video on another forum and couldn't resist. I enjoy both Bey & Brit-Brit.

Re: The Official BEYONCE thread

Congratulations to Beyonce. The album "4" has reached platinum status in the US.

It's the 11th album to reach that level so far this year.

It's the best-selling (non-rap) R&B album for the year-to-date.
