Re: Madonna's Hard Candy Getting Little Promotion

Yeah - she is on that world tour - but no where in site on the US Pop Charts... Madonna, of course, being the businesswoman that she is knows that there is great money to be made in touring - but it would be nice to see the old girl mixing it up on the charts again alongside the younger gals like Rihanna, Pink, Katy Perry, and Leona Lewis - I guess that the label just does not think it is worth the effort to do what it takes to accomplish this...

Re: Madonna's Hard Candy Getting Little Promotion

Point taken. But at the same time, she still DOES have an active contract - one that's supposed to last another ten years. That contract is with Live Nation. She may simply be doing what she can to promote THAT part of her career instead. :)

Re: Madonna's Hard Candy Getting Little Promotion

Hard Candy showed me that the woman that had been making challenging pop music for 15 years previous was indeed a sell-out money grabbing biatch, :)

Re: Madonna's Hard Candy Getting Little Promotion

Oh no. How tragic.

There are plenty of other, better, more talented artists who deserve the promotion and publicity than her: Vanessa Carlton, Jon McLaughlin, Guster, Five for Fighting, all come to mind.

Re: Madonna's Hard Candy Getting Little Promotion

Ugh. Vanessa. I miss her. Heroes & Thieves was a magnificent record, and it's a SHAME she gets snubbed in the general public. Shame shame.

Anyway, are any of you shocked? She tried to do something she KNEW would guarantee her a hit. It's definitely not a style I wanna keep hearing from her. But, considering one of my faves by her is American Life, I really can't say a WHOLE lot. But yeah, I think she tried too hard to fit in and do what's popular and it backfired. Same with Mariah and Janet's album, except their problems were they created the same exact album as their previous effort. I don't know why the hell Janet did it, because her previous effort wasn't exactly a commercial success. But Mariah did it because TEOM sold like hell. And along with poor single choices from this album, minus Touch My Body, the album's only sold 1.2 million so far.

I know, although I prefer Harmonium to Heroes and Thieves, because of its darker songs and superb arrangements. HAT wasn't a success partly because of her new label, The Inc. and their lack of promotion, which I guess sort of ties in to this thread... or at least that's my way of making it somewhat relevant, haha

Re: Live from JUB, Marley takes a bit at Madonna

You're a Miles Davis fan.
I'm more of a Herbie Hancock fan.
But I think we're both...well, I don't know what the term is. Tori Amos says she doesn't like to call her fans "fans" since it's short for "fanatic". She calls them "the people that come to the shows", but to me, that sounds infinitely more pretentious. :)

We're fans, but we're not blind. Miles Davis made Kind of Blue, Bitches Brew, Cookin', and tons of other vital music. And he made some crappy albums, too. (Doo Bop? Was that the name?) My guy Herbie has made some essential albums (Head Hunters, Maiden Voyage, Future Shock) and some essentially worthless albums (Monster). You and I are aware of this, and we admit it freely. Our favorite artists aren't perfect. They've made some bad decisions, and some bad music, and we can say that.

But for some, their favorite artist is more than someone about whom they can say "this is someone I like a lot of music by". As I mentioned in another thread, it's like these artists are sports teams, and their fans become as rabid as those guys who paint letters on their chests as the snow falls. It's "my team, right or wrong". To admit that a song isn't that good, or a concert was lackluster, or a video sucks eggs...it almost amounts to treason. "You CAN'T say that! You need to SUPPORT her!"

Sorry. I love my favorite artists. But they're only as cool as their last album. If they put out a crap album, I label it crap, get rid of it if I was dumb enough to buy it without listening (a very rare occurence now), and wait for the next one.

Madonna's aging. Happens to all of us. She's looking pretty decent for 50-year-old pop singer. But I think she stopped "trying" musically a couple albums ago. Her last truly essential work was at least back in the 90s. And if saying it out loud means I'm not a "true fan", I'm honored not to be called one. :)

Re: Live from JUB, Marley takes a bit at Madonna

I dont know, i am not a diehard fan and i am not old enough to have even heard half of the songs mentioned aboved... I dont really freak out when people make fun of her but fuck come on people at 50 she is still turning out chart making albums and she looks great for being 50.....that being said she needs to shoot the person who said she should wear body suits and grind on the floor

Re: Live from JUB, Marley takes a bit at Madonna

I like Madonna, she a great entertainer, a legend, and own some of her albums (Bedtime Stories is the best!), but I've never been a fanatic or fansite member. She has the most dedicated bunch of fans and also the craziest. They scare me.

Re: Live from JUB, Marley takes a bit at Madonna

I mean I just don't get it. I mean, I understand some people like her music. She recorded "Vogue" and will forever remain more important to some gay people than oxygen or cooked food. I get that. But why do some of her fans throw temper tantrums just because somebody doesn't like her or makes fun of how she's starting to look like something out of Halloween Magazine? It's all in fun Madonna fans, lighten up. I like Miles Davis but I don't cry when people make fun of him for bein' a junkie.

I tried contacting Madonna for a comment but she refused to speak to our cameras. However, we did catch a candid of her leaving Savvoy nightclub. It appears the cameraman caught her off guard.

I think for some people, Madonna is like the Beatles. And when people don't like the Beatles, you kind of look at them differently.

Of course comparing Madonna to the Beatles is sac-religous.

Re: Live from JUB, Marley takes a bit at Madonna

Madonna is just a much a goddess on this site as Britney Spears and Rihanna.

That's the sad part.

don't even get me started on that goddamned Rihanna. i actually like a couple of her songs, but the love that chick gets is just crazy!!! gotta say though, with Madonna....i can ALMOST understand some of the worship. but can someone please explain to me the whole Cher thing? seriously...what the FUUUUUUUCK?!

Madonna's DIVORCE - does anyone care?

So by now we have all heard that Madonna & Guy officially announced there plans to divorce this morning. Does anyone care? Proabably not.

But what I find interesting, is this: Of all the times they could have announced it, they do it in the middle of her Sticky and Sweet tour, the release of his new movie Rocknrolla, and the screenings of here documentary Flith & Wisdom. Convenient coincidence?

It would have made more sense to handle this private family matter when M is not on tour, you know, so she could be motherly and help her kids through the announcement and transition. I guess she can talk to them about divorce in january when she is back home.

It's amazing that a divorce can be used to help them make more money.

Re: Madonna's DIVORCE - does anyone care?

I'm seeing her in concert tonight. This should be interesting. That girl is not scared to "express what she's got, ready or not"

Re: Madonna's DIVORCE - does anyone care?

aha, you really get the point djdnyc. To make no money out of her divorce would have probably been something to be ashamed of for M.

We do not care, and we are not surprised either : if that bitch is as good and imaginative as a wife as she is as a pop star, then the guy must have get bored for long.

Lip-singer on stage - so probably orgasm simulator in privacy : that may be another point her fans should think about. She simulates with you too, guys - except when it's about money.

Re: Madonna's DIVORCE - does anyone care?

I was just at the Madonna concert on Sat. Madonna sang every note live, She even forgot one lyric . A funny thing happened before she sang the song "Miles Away". She said "This song is for the emotionally retarded." I turned to my partner and asked "Did she just say that? She must be mad at her husband". Now the divorce statement shed some light on her comments. Her kids are always with her and so it shall remain. By the way, people don't get divorced for publicity.

Re: Madonna's DIVORCE - does anyone care?

Do you really think those 2 media whores actually cared about each other? NO

Re: Madonna's DIVORCE - does anyone care?

Don't really care. Maybe he realized its time to trade the old, broken 50 year old mattress for a shiny, brand new one.

Re: Madonna's DIVORCE - does anyone care?
