I just started reading the book written by Madonna's brother. I only had a few minutes during breaks at work today, but it's REALLY volatile. Some of that dirt is just your given diva crap; evian water served at a specific temperature, dressing rooms must be painted white... but some of the stuff her brother says is just downright wrong. He's an asshole!

I borrowed the audiobook edition of Christopher Ciccone's book from the library, lol. It was good to experience once but I didn't think I'd want to go back to it or own the book.

I think his relationship with her is...complicated. He talks about the demeaning ways (allegedly) in which she treated him. He's had struggles with addiction and stuff. He might be the sibling of hers that's been most "at her side" throughout her career, though, criss-crossing into her professional stuff - you can see him dancing beside her in the "Lucky Star" video, surfacing in "Truth or Dare" video (and part of the staff on that tour, "Girlie Show" tour later), etc. I'm not sure if her "employing" of him was out of kindness, convenient/practical nepotism or a favor, or (if you'd believe him) sadistic pleasure in being his income provider.

Or as one Youtube commenter wrote, "madonna is the original backstabber dont kid yourself. this book is karma. we all create our life outcome."

LOL at the re-enactments:

I really like a lot of her ballads.

"Crazy for You"-("Vision Quest")

"Live to Tell"-("True Blue")

"Oh Father"-("Like a Prayer")

"This Used to Be My Playground"-("A League of Their Own")

"In This Life"-("Erotica")

"You Must Love Me"-("Evita")

I completely forgot about "This Used to Be My Playground":D

Re: Looking Back At Madonna's Hard Candy

I remember going through the album for the first time, thinking "another let's get on the dancefloor electronic track, another one, and another one, and another one..."

Then came "Devil Wouldn't Recognize You". This song blew me away.
Damn is it good.

At first "Voices" sat on my iPod unlistened to, until I really gave it a chance...it's obviously about Maddy's relationship with Guy (as is "Miles Away"), but after I really listened to the lyrics, that song too is now on my top 20 list.

The rest is okay...I didn' think Maddy needed Justin or Kanye, I thought they needed her, until I saw her recent album sales...Poor Maddy, so desperately trying to hang unto youth...but I still love her.

And then came "Revolver"

Maybe Madonna is done with music. I think her main focus from now on is becoming a movie director.

Madonna signed a ten year, three studio album contract with Live Nation after she left Warner Bros so no, she isn't done with music. She's just taking a break to do other things right now.

I'm glad she is because her going away for awhile already has me anticipating her new album (whether it comes out this fall, next spring or even fall 2012) much more than I did for Hard Candy.

I'd love a new Madonna album for Christmas! Something slow, a little dirty, sexy sounding.

I'd love another "Ray of Light" - that album seemed quite mature and deep
Drowned World (Substitute for Love) <3

Is she still with Jesus?

No, she will go on with music. She loved it and will miss it soon enough. I am interested to see what becomes of her daughter. She could be a huge star if she followed in her mother's footsteps. People used to say there is only one Madonna but Lordes is such a clone she could be huge.

Photos: Musicians Honor Alexander McQueen at Met Costume Gala

http://www.billboard.com/#/slideshow...p;confirm=true

A who's who of Hollywood's elite and fashion's most coveted -- including music stars like Madonna, Taylor Swift, Kanye West, Rihanna, Beyoncé and more -- hit the red carpet in New York City on Monday night (May 2) for the annual Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Gala Benefit.

This year's event, "Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty," honored the work of the late designer, who committed suicide in February 2010 at age 40.

"I miss him terribly, not only as a person but as a designer," said a visibly emotional Madonna, who was wearing a gown by Stella McCartney.

"I think the fashion business is a little bit dull without him and I loved his provocative punk rock attitude. I think his designs were brilliant. I think he was brilliant. And I hope he's having fun wherever he is right now."

Many celebrities who attend the Met Gala are escorted by the designer who dressed them. Francois-Henri Pinault, chief executive of luxury conglomerate PPR, and his wife, Salma Hayek, served as the event's honorary chairs. Colin Firth, designer Stella McCartney and Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour were vice chairs.

Others who walked the red carpet included Jennifer Lopez and husband Marc Anthony, "American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest with girlfriend Julianne Hough, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Hudson, Florence Welch, Keri Hilson, Fergie, Ciara, and "Glee's" Dianna Aragon and Leah Michele.

Also in attendance was the successor to McQueen at his fashion house, Sarah Burton, who also designed Kate Middleton's wedding dress,

The "Savage Beauty" exhibit will be on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art from May 4 to July 31.

MADONNA is preparing daughter LOURDES to inherit her pop crown when she finally hangs up her conical bras.

The singer has collaborated with the teen on a recording and hopes it will set her on the way to a successful career.
The track is called It's So Cool and Madge is in two minds over whether to feature it on her next album or the soundtrack to her new movie about US socialite Wallis Simpson and her relationship with Edward VIII.
A source said: "Madonna hopes Lourdes will step into her shoes and become one of the biggest female artists in the world.
"She's the perfect mentor for her daughter and is keen to assist her first steps into the industry.
"Lourdes has a great voice and plenty of character - like her mum."
The pair first recorded the track together eight years ago but it was reworked in a New York studio in February.
The original 2003 song had an acoustic feel but it was turned into a Europop version and released through iTunes to promote Madge's 2009 Celebration compilation. But Lourdes' voice was not on that version and their recording has never been released.
Record companies and film bosses are already interested in signing the teen.
Warner Brothers were sniffing around hoping to persuade her to take on a part in the Harry Potter films a few years back.
Madge blocked the move to make her daughter concentrate on her education, which is typical of her strict upbringing.
There was one point in her life when she wasn't even allowed to watch the televison.
There's bound to be a heavy expectation placed on Lourdes' young shoulders.
Her mum has set some lofty standards and it must be a daunting prospect following in her footsteps.
But Madge's recent work hasn't exactly set the world alight so it could be the perfect time for Lourdes to start making a name for herself.
It will be interesting to see if Em allows her daughter to dress up in the type of stage clobber she's worn down the years.

If she does, it might be best to wait until she turns 18.
Otherwise social services will definitely be on the blower...

I know the Madonna "Glee" episode with its cover versions came up earlier in this thread. Any of you guys have any favorite Youtube covers of Madonna songs you've ran across? Most beautiful, or most interesting?

Here's two I was just checking out this morning:

"Crazy for You" on acoustic guitar - gorgeous rendition of one of her most endearing ballads:

Sia covering "Oh Father" - not for everyone, judging by some of the reaction I'm seeing on the Web, but interesting arrangement in updating the song, anyway:
