Re: Mariah can't sing Mariah.. but wail

LMAO @ how Whitney rolled her eyes!

She's like: "B*tch please, I'm Whitney Houston. I'm the sh!t. She can sound like me all she wants, but it's not the other way around. "I" don't sound like her, SHE sounds like ME. I run this, end of story!"

:rotflmao:

Woooooow, you saw all of that? I saw a very dignified response. If anything, she said seemed like she was trying to think before she spoke. As far as the Mariah vs. Whitney competition, I do not understand how people can compare the two outside of the both of their being powerful singers.

Re: Mariah Carey in her new movie "Push"

So not the psychkinetic thriller with Chris Evans and Dakota Fanning? Just checking...

Re: Mariah Carey in her new movie "Push"

mariah does look and sound very convincing. i def. want to see the rest of this film..

Re: Mariah Carey in her new movie "Push"

unfortunate that there's another movie with the same name to come out the same year...but this looks like it'll be a decent movie

though...if it were the Push with Chris Evans..would have been fun to see Mariah with sound wave powers....or she could be like Dazzler from the X-Men ;)

Re: Mariah Carey in her new movie "Push"

Wow......

I WANT to see this movie.

Mo'Nique alone is enough for me because I know she can act her ass off, but Mariah is the icing on the cake.

Re: Mariah can't sing Mariah.. but wail

You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. It's been well documented that Tommy/Sony manufactured that phony Carey cow to be their own Whitney knock off. As far as songwriting goes? So? First of all, her "compositions" (many of which are hijacked from old songs, and or stolen from anonymous songwriters) are bad. Just had to throw that in. Second of all, my guess is that she wouldn't have been able to record any of the cheese she wrote without Tommy giving her his approval on each one beforehand. Finally, as far that comment about someone who "used" to sound good goes...take a long look at the baggage you're rallying behind, because anyone with ears can hear that Scarey lost her voice a long time ago. It would probably be comedy to hear her try and sing "Vision of Love" in 2009. Please. Mariah is a joke. And furthermore seems incredibly mentally unbalanced.

ROTFL

Agree, agree, agree. :=D:

You have no idea what th fuck YOU'RE talking about. It is NOT well documented, however ASSUMED by haters. And judging by everything you said, you're just a hater who no matter what I say, will be a prick against. Assume what you want, but your assumptions couldn't be further from the truth. If she was meant to be a clone, he failed miserably. He made her leaps more successful than Whitney, ans they're absolutely nothing alike. So your absurd assumptions are further proven false. If you actually look at their talents, completely different bodies of work, then you wouldn't look as stupid as you do right now spweing such B.S.
Crackie Houston is a has-been, had proven that with 3 attempts at a comeback and failing miserably each time. People may stand and clap for her, but they're not supporting her music. People still support Mariah.
And yay, you have someone who agrees with you. But his head's so far up Houston's cunt it's ruined his view on REALITY. Numbers and facts are on my side...where's yours?

Re: Mariah can't sing Mariah.. but wail

The whore married her record label CEO.
How she got her career is obvious.

What a fucking idot.

It may be how she got her career, but not the reason why she's been around for 19 years.

You are a massive idiot.

Re: Mariah can't sing Mariah.. but wail

I agree. Add Minnie Ripperton in there too. But Mariah was a Whitney Houston knock-off from the start. Tommy Mottola modeled Mariah and her songs after Whitney after seeing the incredibly massive success Clive Davis had with Whitney.

That's why I think she doesn't get that much love and respect in the industry. If you notice when she performs at award shows or anywhere else, she almost NEVER gets a standing ovation from her peers...

That says a lot to me.

I personally think Mariah SCREAMS originality. The way she sings -- the whispery notes, the whistles -- that's original. Even if she wasn't the first to do it, she's known for it now. & her lyrics are wonderful & original as well.

I have nothing but respect for the woman. It's difficult to stay relevant in music for 19 years, even if her popularity has decreased since Daydream days. & even though her voice has deteriorated in the past few years, she's still my favourite singer to listen to. It's not always about the voice -- usually, it's about the song. Look @ Britney's best songs. I think Toxic, Everytime, Circus, ...Baby One More Time etc. These songs are world-class, whether or not the singer isn't the best.

I heard a rumor... (Mariah related)

So I work part time for a radio station, and I heard a big rumor that after 'My Love' her single from The-Dream's upcoming album is done being promoted, 'Migrate' with T-Pain will surface as the final single from E=MC2 to tide fans over until 'MC3' is out in 2010.

If this is true: IT'S ABOUT FUCKING TIME!!!!!!

Re: I heard a rumor... (Mariah related)

I cannot believe that they are releasing anything else from E=MC2. All of the interest in the album has pretty much subsided. In addition, Migrate should have been released a long time ago as opposed, like Summer 2008, as opposed to now.

Re: I heard a rumor... (Mariah related)

Yeah, "My Love" is the next single off The-Dream's album. I actually like the song since it is something catchy and classic Mariah...

I wouldn't be too sure about that. The album sales shot up 35% this week for that album. And Spring Break would be the perfect time for this song! Guess we'll have to see.

And no, I think the project is titles MC3 as of right now, don't think its 3rd in a series.

Re: Mariah "I'll Be Lovin' You Long Time" FLOP?!

but since she's an attention whore who needs to sell millions to get her self-esteem a boost up...I doubt she'll do that.

I think since The Emancipation of Mimi, this doesn't seem to be true. I think now that she knows people haven't just shoved her to the side, she doesn't feel as obligated to sell millions, but rather do music that her and the fans can enjoy. And if there's a radio hit along the way, so be it. I think the EMC2 era wasn't about hits, but about releasing songs the fans loved. I cannot wait for MC3 this year!!!

Of course it wasn't... ..|

Re: Mariah Carey Charmbracelet

OP, all Charmbracelet CD's will have that problem. After the Glitter thing and her breakdown, her voice had issues. She had to release a "comeback" album and she rushed it. Her voice hadn't recovered and the quality of songs were lacking.

In 2003 when she was performing though, her voice was back and JUST as good as 1993.

Wow! And I thought I had read everything. I guess I was wrong. #-o

Re: Mariah Carey Charmbracelet

Perhaps I should correct qwerty. I saw the Charmbracelet Tour, and SOME of the songs she sounded reminiscent of her older days such as Always Be My Baby, and Dreamlover. And hell, I'll even say she did good on Vision of Love and Hero and some of the tracks from Charmbracelet. But I wouldn't go as far as saying her 1993 voice was back for the tour. Definitely not.
I can also say during the Tampa stop of the Adventures of Mimi Tour in 2006, some of the songs were sang extremely well, and some of them...not so much. It just depends.
