I'm not going to argue the Whitney vs. Mariah thing. I have enjoyed both of their music through the years. I like them both but overall prefer Mariah's music to Whitney's. It's no secret that both of them have lost a considerable amount of their singing abilities through the years. Voices change with age and it just happens. I hate to see either of them harshly judged because they're "not what they used to be". So what? They've both had remarkable careers and their recordings, particularly their earlier recordings, will stand the test of time. They may never be like they once were but they were great in their day and as of this date no one in the industry is even close to achieving the success these two ladies have had. Christina and Celine have enjoyed considerable success and Beyonce but at the moment can't think of anyone else who comes close. Kelly Clarkson? Got quite a ways to go. Leona? Here today gone tomorrow. I think it will be many years before someone comes along to rival the careers of these two ladies. I still enjoy their music and will continue to listen to them for a long time to come. That's my 2 cents worth.

Mariah can still sing the way she used to. She's just doing different types of music. She's not going to do ballads all the time. That would just be boring.

However, she still does plenty of them. Haven't you heard her latest single, "I Stay In Love"???

LMAO @ that performance. WHERE'S THE SINGING??? She basically whispered and fast-talked her way throughout the whole song. And as far as the ending, it's obvious to me that her "belting" parts were LIP-SYNCHED TO A PRE-RECORDED TRACK, as they usually are. But she's become such a MASTER at lip-synching that you can hardly tell if she is or isn't anymore.

While Mariah is still WHISPERING her way through her songs and LIP-SYNCHING TO PRE-RECORDED TRACKS live, Whitney's voice seems to be improving and gaining back it's range.

Her performance @ Clive Davis' Pre-Grammy party in February 2009:


Her voice is STRONGER than Mariah's, and she's doing more VOCALLY IMPRESSIVE things than Mariah. Mariah isn't hitting and holding notes like that LIVE. Whitney's voice has improved much since that horrid performance in Kaz last year.

And the reaction that the people in the crowd give her throughout the performance speaks for itself.

Needless to say it is VERY forgetable..It is PURE Pop-Tart with a sugarless Bubble Gum filling...

Just like the bulk majority of her songs.

Mariah's voice is WEAK. She only sounds great in the studio, because that's where she can "perfect" everything and work her studio magic and lengthen them notes. She's a STUDIO act! Her stage presence is horrible and she can't sing live for sh!t and hasn't been able to for quite some time. She always looks like a deer caught in headlights when she performs. Her LIVE singing voice NEVER matches her recorded voice these days either (hell when she actually DOES sing live, which is rare). She knows her voice is weak and whack, that's why she chooses to LIP-SYNCH most of the time instead of singing LIVE. If she and Whitney shared the stage today, Whitney would BLOW Mariah away and WHITNEY would be the one getting most of the praise and the one getting the standing ovation. Whitney's voice today is STILL more powerful than Mariah's WEAK, WHISPERY and AIRY voice.

Whitney only has 12 #1 hits while Mariah has 18 #1 hits.

You have to resort to bringing up octaves and typing in how many more #1 hits Mariah has over Whitney to help make your case (which holds little weight)? You're pitiful.

Why does Mariah have more #1 hits than Whitney? Hmmm maybe it's because she put out an album and released singles ALMOST EVERY YEAR IN THE 90S, trying to catch up with and surpass Whitney??? INSTEAD OF taking breaks in between and resting! That's why her looney azz had that nervous breakdown, too busy tryin to work and put out albums and get more #1s to catch up with Whitney, whereas Whitney could care less about the number of #1 of hits! She's quality, not quantity.

And Whitney STILL today has more substantial records broken than MOOriah SCAREY. Records that mean much more in the industry than the NUMBER of hits on the chart.

Whitney is STILL a bigger Diva than Scarey is and she STILL has a greater presence anywhere she goes than Scarey does. When Scarey performs at awards shows and places, she gets overshadowed by the YOUNGER and more HIP artists like Beyonce and and Alicia Keys. THAT'S SAD! She supposed to be a legend and "the best singer" (as yall say) but she can't even HEADLINE properly and overshadow the younger divas!!!

And Whitney is STILL much more respected than Scarey is and she's STILL a more celebrated artist than Scarey will ever be!

So much that her last few albums failed, and each one of her "comeback" singles have flopped and gotten canned. But people still love, respect, and support her. Especially after lying and deceiving her fanbase when it came to her addiction. Great job, Whitney. The only reason people still give her a standing ovation is because they're proud she was able to walk on stage without taking a hit.

Scarey strips her clothes off and lipsynchs and NEVER gets a standing ovation... no matter how many "#1 hits" she has. They still show her little love. Whitney did crack and hits the stage fuked up and STILL gets one. People kissing her ass and treating her like the legend that she is. More than I can say for Mariah. She's a legend but hardly gets treated like one.

I am *actually* a fan of the OLD Mariah... back when she wore her natural curly brown hair and was actually SANGIN somethin. I STILL watch her MTV Unplugged to this day... STILL bump "Butterfly" often, which is my FAVORITE Mariah song. I just lost much respect for her over time... with her taking her clothes off and always lipsynching somewhere. I believe she COULD'VE been a lot greater than she is if she hadn't reduced herself by taking THAT route and singing lackluster songs. But now she is just in the same vein as Beyonce and them for me. But hey, she's older than them and can't always keep talking about YouTube, Butterflies, Charmbracelets, Rainbows and things that young naive girls associate with.
