  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

The post here when you're having a good day thread.

I'm so happy... this afternoon I will meet this lady after over 10 years!

When I was around 14 I went with my dad to help her, she lives alone in the countryside and she was so generous always giving us gifts and extra money for some chores.

Years ago I tried to call her on the telephone but the voice said the number was non-existant and some time later the number was removed from the telephone book, I should have written it on paper, so I kind of gave in to the possibility she could have moved out or even deceased (she must be in her 80s now).

Last night I read the news that something had happened near her location and she came to mind again. Hence I decided to call the general register office this morning and they gave me the great news that she's still living there.

During the past I've been thinking to just drive there and see, but I wasn't sure about the route and I wanted to talk to her first.

I have already prepared some gifts to give to her. I hope she will recognize me...

It's things like this that light up my days :)

That does sound great. Be sure to let us know how it goes. I bet she will be thrilled to see you.

Hi sixthson, maybe I should post this in the other thread because I'm a bit disappointed :(

Well I drove to her town and took the wrong way twice, these towns might be small but they are like a maze. Thankfully on the second time I saw a woman cleaning the doorstep and I asked her directions, she was so understanding and kind to show me the way.

We reached the crossroad, I thanked her and proceeded. The road was a mess, however the place was getting familiar and I finally reached the house of this lady. Her name was on the gate and everything else looked the same as ten years ago...

I stopped the car and honked the horn. There was no doorbell so I said "is anyone here?" and called her name a few times. I waited a while, called her again but she wasn't responding nor came out.
I'm sure she was there, she never leaves home... so I thought she just didn't recognize me, therefore I left.

On the way back I began to ask information to everyone. The first woman told me that she is distrustful and never opens the door to anyone (I knew this) and that someone named Leonard was assisting her sometimes, bringing her food.

I thanked this very kind woman and headed to town in search of Mr. Leonard. After asking other people I found where he lives but his mother said he wasn't home. I talked to his mother and she also told me that F. never opens the door when someone's looking for her, not even to her son who knows her and goes there to help her.

At this point I was a bit confused and asked if she was well. Leonard's mother responded that she was doing well and that she might have been sleeping or didn't hear. However, she also added that I should go visit F. around midday or in the morning as that is the time she is usually outside, and that she has a mobile phone which she keeps turned off all the time unfortunately.

Now all I can do is to make an appointment with Leonard and go to her place together in the morning hoping she will receive us.

Due to the distance, it is not a trip I can make every day. This is why in the past I didn't want to go there without first making sure she was home waiting for me.

The cute food vendor is back in business! I have to admit, I enjoy looking at him more than eating the food.

The sun is shining, the last of the snow is starting to melt with very little in the long-range forecast.
Our vacation flight leaves April 1st which isn't that far away. Found our exact trip online for $800 each MORE than we paid.

I finally got a trail set up next week at at bakery down in the city. I can't wait. I hope it all goes well.

Mark this date down gentlemen. It's the day a miracle occurred. I got hired at the bakery. I begin training soon. So freaking excited :D My boss is a real cool dude and he's very passionate about his products.

It's going to suck having to be in at 3AM but I'll get used to my new schedule in no time.

Deactivated my Facebook account yesterday. Had a good night sleep last night after the Monday over night. Short day today at work with easy tasks to do and going to the movies later with my boyfriend.

Also new Killswitch Engage album and the lyrics are hitting the right notes with me right now.

Good idea deactivating Facebook...

Even if I have a boring cough that feels like spitting out my lungs at every blow, the influence is going away. It looks like a summer day outside and I went to play with my ducks this morning, one of which (the female) attacked a hen crossing her path (which crouched down as if she had to receive the cock) and the duck ended up feet up in the manure after a somersault. That made laugh

Something should happen next month. Plus, someone I met years ago sent me a message.

Keep going like this, Jesus :rotflmao:

Yeah I just noticed this too. Congratulations. Hope it's going well; sometimes the first couple weeks on the job can be rough. Let us know what you're learning when you catch a second.

Yesterday was like an international day. My husband and I dropped stuff off at the food shelf and while there, I struck up a conversation with a Somalian man and his son, who looked to be about 10. I told the boy to take a cookie that they had sitting out, but his father said no. The boy was allergic to peanuts and the father was unsure was American cookies had peanuts in them. We found him a plain sugar cookie and he took an M and M cookie for his little brother. I helped them find some dining room chairs they needed. Nice guys. Then we went to the co-op and I had conversation with a woman from Russia. We talked about kombucha and she told me in Russia all the grandma have a kombucha pot always ready for drinking. I told her the first time I tried it, I felt really good afterwards. She told me that was because it had a little alcohol in it. Nice lady. Then we went over to the deli where an older Greek man and his son were selling their feta cheese spreads. When the man saw my husband, he got all excited (because Tomas is Greek, too) and was hugging and kissing him. Tomas introduced me, told him I was his husband. Then I got hugged and kissed. The man said "my son here has a boyfriend, too". His son rolls his eyes and says "Baba, stop now". He told us his father is very proud of how open minded he is about his son's boyfriend. We got free feta cheese spread and offers for more any time we wanted it. Ha. Lovely guys. A really nice day.

I probably fell down around 20 times today. Which is demoralizing as an adult, to be flopping around on the ground unable to get back up.

But it was my first time cross-country skiing. :)

So I didn't mind all that much.

I know I don´t post much here and most probably people don´t give a crap about it, but.. today I´m getting married, so it´s a good day for me
