The Queen is Dead. Long live the King.

It's growing on me...
Why the fuck know that series better than some other royal lines, fucking Anglo imperialism

Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Neil Kelly, expressed his pride in the Council’s efforts to honour Her Majesty’s memory: “The unveiling of this beautiful statue is a tribute not only to Her Majesty’s extraordinary life and reign but also to her deep connection with the people of our Borough.”

Any thoughts? See anything amiss? Clue: think getting dressed.

While I'd like to know how that purse is being held up, the one thing I like about the statues that bring her down to life size at ground level is that she is not up on a pedestal.

But no...it doesn't look like her at all.

A most admirable woman. What is your opinion of Charles? Camilla? Charles and Camilla?

I liked the the old girl.
She always reminded me of my own mother, being born and dying at around the same time.
I find it hard referring to Prince Charles as "king"
... and I will never, NEVER call Camilla "Queen" (we were always told her title would be "consort")
Nor the "Princess of Wales" - out of respect to Diana.
They have a bit of a tour of Australia coming up - as a bit of a PR exercise.

The level of utter indifference of Canadians to Chuck and his mistress is so great that a visit is a waste of everyone's time.

I sense there is an almost global disinterest in them turning up on any ex-colonial doorstep since Bette is coffinated.

It's such a pile of sh!te that it's hardly worth picking out odd details, but anyway: at first glance I thought the picture was flipped because her body warmer and his jacket seem to button up the wrong way round, but his breast pocket is on the left, so it's right. On closer inspection it's not clear which side they are on. Hers aren't evenly spaced. His jacket has a patch breast pocket but jetted side pockets—as if Anderson and Sheppard would do such a thing! Anyway, what's he doing dressed in a suit and tie while she's wearing a body warmer and wellies? And as she's dressed for walking the dogs why does she need a handbag?

The York Minster statue is in a different league; and direct stone carving is always more pleasing to look at.

The Unhugables..??

I huged a King - and he liked it...

It's dreadful. The statue installed on the west front of York Minster is far better.

I was in York a few weeks ago and saw this statue. Not particularly good, particularly in comparison to the funerary monuments within, which in many cases have an emotional power that this sculpture lacks. Lifeless. I think the Queen should have been portrayed at an early time in her reign, just as she was always portrayed on stamps. When asked for her approval on updating that image, she always refused.

The King and Queen are visiting Canada. It is being seen in part as a two-fingered salute to Trump.

Trump has made me and a lot of other Canadians monarchists in spite of ourselves.

We appreciate that Chuck and the missus took some time to pop over and perform with the reading of the throne speech.

For all our general disinterest in the Windsors, the majority of Canadians are perfectly happy to be part of the commonwealth with a titular head of state to save us from the
nonsense of potentially electing a dictatorial half-wit like our neighbours downstairs.

And of course, from 'the true north strong and free' to just reminding Trump about his humiliation being mocked during his state visit to GB in his first term...it was great to
have Chuck keeping up the side.

Of course, the visit rankled enough to have Trump make up some bullshit lie about Canada considering a deal to sell out our sovereignty for 62 billion dollars.

Pathetic man.
