At what point did the mission of so many evangelicals become punishment of their fellow citizens and to get us all killed?

Mr Skiba's story is an example of so many of the things that are wrong with evangelicals - the decline in membership, the move toward charismatic mumbo-jumbo paranoia over education and exegesis, and an obsession with escatology.

And sadly, these are the same problems that are seen in the Republican Party.

I have to say that I figured that Skiba's outcome would be a lose/lose proposition.

Either he would get better and go on to cause even more harm as a charlatan....or his death just convinces more of the lunatic fringe that it is the 'hospital protocols' that are literally murdering people with COVID as some sort of retribution for them not being vaccinated or wearing masks.

There's a new angle to the anti-vaxxer lunacy: they now believe that hospitals are killing anti-vaxxers.

Anchorage is one of those places living in two realities: the State of Alaska has been experiencing a hospital bed shortage as COVID-19 patients have filled up the State's hospitals. Meanwhile, Alaska's citizens have been showing up at meetings of local city councils and the State Legislature to lobby against mask mandates. Members of the Legislature, instead of supporting mask usage and instead of encouraging vaccination, have instead proposed legislation to make it easier for the State's citizens to get Ivermectin.


Meet William Topel, age 68, of Anchorage, Alaska, was one of those anti-vax and anti-mask "warriors for Jesus".

Well, apparently chicken soup didn't prevent Bill from getting COVID-19.

Fast forward a month and Bill is in Providence Hospital in Anchorage with COVID-19. But that's not where it ends. Bill's fellow "Warriors for Jesus" protested the hospital because they wouldn't give him Ivermectin.

*The claim about Pfizer and Ivermectin is false.



Because they don't have anything better to do, the Alaska Legislature and the Governor got involved:

However, he was admitted to a local hospital with COVID symptoms late last week, longtime friend Terrence Shanigan told The Daily Beast on Thursday, not long after he attended an Assembly meeting that involved swarms of unmasked protesters challenging a proposed mask ordinance.

A bunch of Bill's friends showed up at the hospital asking about visitation policies and about the hospital's policies on carrying weapons on premise. They attempted to sneak in via a back entrance but were caught by hospital security. They were asked by hospital security to leave, which they did.

Bill's demise was pretty quick- he appears to have gotten sick at the beginning of October, after he attended an Alaska Assembly meeting with a large group of unmasked protestors. He was admitted to the hospital at the end of last week and his condition quickly deteriorated.

The demands for Ivermectin treatment appear to have come from a member of the Alaska State Assembly who had obtained medical power of attorney for Topel, because Topel was either comatose or under heavy sedation. Within a week of admission, Topel died.

There was a plan to move Bill to another hospital that had agreed to give Bill Ivermectin, however Bill died before any transfer could occur.

Of course, Bill's friends will not attribute his death to his not getting the vaccine or to not wearing a mask when in an unmasked crowd during a pandemic. It has to be someone else's fault... the hospital, the doctor, the lack of a specific treatment.

Well... back in August, she was standing. Since she's in the ICU, she's probably not standing much now.

Her friends still seem oblivious to any lessons learned from Ayesha's experience.
