It's something that sociologists and psychologists need to study.

In epidemiology, these patterns expected- that there will be a group of people who deny the reality and who create fantastic theories to explain what their mind cannot quite comprehend. For example, during the Great Plague, when 50% of the population died, different explanations were proposed: the plague was blamed on the Jews, prostitutes and beggars. There were even people who blamed the people who cared for the sick and the people who removed the dead; just like Fauci is blamed today, the people who were trying to help the people who had plague were accused of spreading the illness.

What is different today is social media. In the 16th and 17th century, rumors about the plague were spread through word-of-mouth and local newspapers. In 2021, we're up against cellphones with Facebook and Twitter.

I had this exact conversation with friends yesterday
Whereas pre-internet it took weeks/months for information to spread now it is instant and when you are bombarded at every turn with conflicting information it is not surprising that some people will go for the worst case scenario

Clear to me the woman had a few issues going on. Mental Health was not the high priority. That one is sad. That woman had some serious issues.
 
One of the recurring themes in the karma cycle of COVID-19 is that there's a certain bravado and toxic masculinity in the beginning and it crumbles when the person can't breathe. Not being about to get oxygen is humbling. But by then, it's too late.

We did our own research too when we agreed to be vaccinated and keep wearing masks.

Their point is on the agreement, not on the why, like people who would sneer at you for loving "trite" Beethoven's 9th or Shakespeare's Julius Caesar without them having the slightest suspicion of what Beethoven's harmony or Shakespearian pentameter harmony are: they seemed to be just like you and me because they appeared to be following the same rules, assumptions and beliefs than you and me, while they actually were living in a whole universe of beliefs and assumptions in their own minds; we, seemingly, "had agree to disagree" without even being fully aware that we were disagreeing in the first place; now that reality has dismantled that old system of beliefs and assumptions, they must work hard to remake a whole universe of their own, one which would not leave them out.

What was sad was his in and out of the Hospital journey near the end. It must have been beyond exhausting and terrifying.

No, what is new is that it is visible and makes it to mainstream news. Again, certain "lib" people have lived in an ideal bubble, in which everyone was educated and mentally sound: that sort of people are part of the old good people, the sort who need the "reactive" of a particular sort of situation to make you realize how they have always really been... at most, that sort of cases had only been visible with certain particular subtypes, the sort that would make headlines through horrible crimes.

People are not good, and people are not shit either... but we might agree that, one way or the other... :cool: :rolleyes:
