The US goes to War

I am reading the poll, you are reading into it.
Absolutely.

If we're talking about militarily seizing an ally for filthy lucre, and as many Republicans either have no opinion as to its validity, or skipped it, then that says something about the GOP.

All abstentions in voting MEAN something. In this case, it would be entirely consistent with national election polls for the GOP to intentionally refuse to answer to thwart efforts to show them as the immoral, unethical party they have become.

Why do you think it might get better?

That Congress might rein in TrumpCo.?

At the moment, most of the world only sees it as getting worse. The belligernence. The threats. The beating of war-drums.

Instead of seeing the media and oligarchs looking to lower the temperature and pulling the US back from the brink, they seem to be reinforcing the narrative for stealing other sovereign states and territory like they have done over and over and over again, getting the US public more and more aligned with the 'as-of-right' military campaigns to create an actual continental empire ruled by Washington.

If you are optimistic...what is the actual basis for your optimism?

As an old dead historian once said ‘time solves more problems than men do’ and this is just the sort of problem time can solve. If I’m optimistic then anyone here who believes future elections will be canceled and the far right will take over permanently must be pessimistic. I’m more worried about certifying elections come 2028 if Johnson is still speaker and Vance is riding shotgun than just about anything else.

And what media is cheering the takeover of Greenland?

Finally I’m old enough to tell the difference between smoke and fire.

It might just mean that they are ignorant and are afraid it’s a trick question, but since we can’t really say it’s the preconceived beliefs of those who want to tell us what it means that we can surely attest to.

No. Asking if you support the takeover of Greenland by force isn't a question that appears tricky. There is no subtle implication. It's stark. [Text: Removed]

There is nothing confusing about it.

A prelude to US invasion? Greenland has pretty good healthcare and doesn't need the US to be sending warships. BTW, they are saying that both US hospital ships are currently out of commission so maybe this is just delusional?

This is what triggered this latest weirdness, apparently:

And can someone from the US government and war drum corps explain to me how, if the US totally obliterated Iran's nuclear weapons capability, that it can once again be one week away from producing a nuclear bomb?

And explain it to me like I was 12?

Remember when your parents explained why grandpa kept wondering away from home and that he needed to go to a special place where people could help take care of him...?

And then there are those of us who are wondering, with bated breath, whether in the grand tradition of the Kremlin in 2014 and 2022, the US is just waiting until after the Olympics to lunch their nextmilitary action against Iran...or Cuba.

My bet is that he'll do it in timing with his State of the Union address to distract from all of the Epstein survivors that the Democrats have invited as their guests to the speech.

uh oh. Someone just got told to shut up.

TrumpCo. is desperate for war at this point. But as usual, it will be an undeclared war.

And of course it will be easily won because it will be asymmetrical.

But more likely just another performative strike to blow off some really expensive bombs and leave the status quo with the ING in charge.

I don’t agree that this will be easily won although Trump will surely claim a victory even if nothing is actually accomplished. The Iranian leadership believes that if they survive and the regime is not brought down they have won, I’m inclined to agree with that. Trump can claim he won another war that he will name but just like his euphoric words concerning the economy fewer people will be nodding their heads and more will be rolling their eyes.

This aged like milk. We all knew what was coming. Trump needs to boost his approval ratings and to declare some kind of emergency in order to suspend civil liberties and likely to support his next round of tariffs.

Congress, as usual, will do nothing but silently applaud.

I have to say that the US invites retribution against itself over and over and over again.

So the President has unilaterally declared a war, and at the same time, his sole supremacy over Congress.

And the feckless US Congress will do nothing about it except cheer him on.

With the full realization that he is taking onto himself dictatorial powers.

A rogue criminal president now residing over a rogue criminal nation of complicit Representatives and making every citizen of the United States now part of a criminal nation...just like
dictators have done over and over again.

US citizens and interests will now, again, have huge targets on their backs. Every single one will now be fair game for retribution, if as usual, the US fails.

This time though, when some other country crashes through a tower or strikes at the Pentagon, don't bother calling for help if you all aren't going to help yourselves and elect a government
that won't make you war criminals every fucking time.

Put a pin in these three facts:
  1. This is Mango Mussolini's eighth military action in 12 months, all of which he has undertaken without talking to Congress or America's allies or the American public.
  2. He coveted a Nobel Peace Prize that he is never going to receive. It has been 12 months of Orwellian "Board of Peace" and false claims of ending wars. He may, however, be in the history books as the moron who walked us all into World War III.
  3. His name is in the Epstein files hundreds of thousands of times. However, the documentation of a woman's claims that he forced her to give him a blowjob when she was just 13 years old is nowhere to be found, even though the law passed by Congress requires all of the Epstein documents to be released to the American public. He's a criminal. Don't be distracted.

Unfortunately, Americans are easily distracted. It is a sad fact.

And when there are cheerleaders like Lindsey Graham running around telling everyone how great this is...it drowns out the silent oppostion. They do this on Friday nights, I believe so that they can flood the Sunday pundit bobblhead programs to get talking points out there while avoiding the grind of daily journalism.

Again...how is the US at this point again. How many more times is the US going to 'obliterate' Iran's nuclear program after giving enough warning that they are intent on bombing so that the IRNG once again could relocate everything out of harm's way? Is this really just a way for the US military industrial complex to blow shit up so they can rob the taxpayers some more?

Asking for a friend.
