The World Without the US

Can anyone explain to me the difference between what Trump claims is happening in South Africa and what Trump wishes to do with the population of Gaza? Did I miss Trump offering to buy out the owners of private property in Gaza?

I suppose I know the answer and it’s sad that Rubio would soil himself in public just to maintain his good standing within the tribe.

Like some of the posters on this board, Trump probably feels that the legitimate land owners in Gaza deserve no recompense for their land.

That Israel and the vultures are entitled to seize it all.

Because we haven't fucking progressed in the last 4000 years.

America. You are marching down this road. Don't. This time there is no coming back.

Trump/Musk/Vance et al the government is being run by the paranoid who are devoid of empathy.

But really did you ever think you’d see the day when a US VP would criticize the Germans for for suppressing the free speech rights of Nazi’s?

No.

Everything changed forever this week.

JD's speech was so awful that it seemed like it was designed so that he could not be considered fit to take over from Donny when the old conman's senility can no longer be glossed over.
And then a certain other person is standing by, ready to do the job.

Here's a question: Are Trump, Vance, Rubio & Co. really that clueless about bullying Europe, or are they deliberately trying to alienate them into breaking away from the U. S.? Trump has previously denigrated the U. S. role in the NATO alliance.

Let's go for the second option, nobody can be so ignorant that the first option holds up.

TrumpCo. wants to alienate everyone it seems.

And I think I know why. If you present every other country as an 'enemy' of the US, it will dull the sensitivity of Americans to any aggressive action you take against them, including seizing land or resources.

Trump doesn't want America to be loved. He only wants it to be feared.

He is incapable of actual friendship, so he thrives on having enemies. The trademark of a mentally unbalanced immature bully.

He prefers fear to respect because he knows he is incapable of commanding respect from the people and institutions that matter.

He is apparently on record as having said that he wants Americans to view him like the North Koreans regard Kim.

The problem right now though is that his surrogates don't inspire the fear or credibility they need to project when they have to give speeches on behalf of the regime.

The buzz is getting louder about Trump pulling the US out of NATO. And the Trumpists are all for it.

Almost every wonk agrees that the guardrails that Congress put up to prevent a president from unilaterally withdrawing from the treaty and alliance would not hold.

But I also see Trump using Ukraine to withdraw from NATO.

And yet...the thing that doesn't make sense is TrumpCo. saying it won't support Ukraine as part of NATO...but if the US is not part of NATO, it will have no say at all as to who is or is not a member of the alliance.

The US weapons industry will not be so pleased. Europe will soon be spending a lot more on defence whether it wants to or not. Once the US becomes no longer any friend to NATO, less of that spending will be going to American manafacturers.

In his first term, he tried the shakedown approach where he told European countries that they had to spend a lot more on American planes, tanks, weapons and ammunition.

And to some degree, it worked after Rzzzia invaded Ukraine because the US was supplying all new stuff to European countries who were giving their old equipment away.

Gaming this out...if the US withdrew from NATO, that market is totally gone. Europe and Great Britain will have to increase their production capacity and range of products. And this will be a drain on their economies.

If Trump gives Putin Ukraine, and forces an end to the conflict, the European market is also likely largely gone, although Europe will be forced to arm itself rapidly and may still have to buy US stuff.

If the US pulls their troops and stuff out of Europe, they either have to park it somewhere else in the middle east or they bring it home and find a use for it.

Although in a fascist country, the standing army would likely become the means of suppressing dissent as it is in so many other totalitarian regimes.

More likely though, all of this likely gradually leads to the US seizing Greenland and Canada because the US will never go up against China. This would absorb vast amounts of military spending and give the US vast new territory to pretend to defend.

I think that Vindman is right.

With Trump at the helm, Tulsi as the director, it can only be expected that the US will become increasingly shut out of intelligence sharing.

Not that the US could be trusted with intelligence, particularly when TrumpCo. monetized it and sold it to the highest bidder in his first term, but I suspect that one of the outcomes of the European leaders' meeting today will be moving with some alacrity to start closing out the Americans.

Seriously? Seriously? Seriously?

GTFOOH.
Far Left, and I mean really far left, echo chamber is all you want.

I mean there was video proof of South African leaders chanting to kill the white farmers but you could not handle the truth.

Yes, break free from NATO.

How does one break free from an organization one largely controls? Having control is usually a sign of freedom, lacking control is where freedom becomes an issue.

The US loves NATO. At least the defense industry does as long as the countries are buying up US product.

A reminder to all those down there in your tay-hass backwater that the only time Article 5 has been invoked is when all the NATO allies appeared on September 11.

The US needs to get out of NATO, Europeans need to defend themselves. Pulling out of NATO would be the best way.

Why? The current plan appears to be to pull out of NATO so we can better prepare to defend Taiwan, is that the policy you support?

Europe can defend itself, the US has to defend its homeland. We also now have to deal with a hostile neighbor to the north who thinks they can defend themselves also. I guess they are going to give up their artic resources.
