The World Without the US

OUCH.

The new prime minister added that with the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, the U.S. became the global hegemon, a position of authority undermined by Trump's transactional nature that puts little emphasis on defending democratic values or the rule of law.

“Now the United States is beginning to monetize its hegemony: charging for access to its markets and reducing its relative contributions to our collective security,” Carney said.

He sounded like what he is.

A Kremlin bot. A Putin ass sucker.

A perpetual slave to the regime that helped bring him to power.

He sounded pathetic, irrelevant, and unknowledgeable.

rrrZZZia only crept in to the G7/8 because of some kind od realpolitick rapprochment ...but let's be clear...the Soviet Union hardly qualified for staus at the table.

It's 30 minutes of your life worth spending. He succintly stitches together the disparate components of Trump's gambit. We are exactly where Wolff declares:

Wolff connects the dots here, explaining that as crazy as it is, the Trump administration is responding to real problems facing the United States. But their first loyalty is to protect the oligarchy at all costs, so everything they're doing is completely ass-backwards. Will their overreach finally waken the sleeping giant and bring us to civil war?

Of course, Trump only wants the rest of the world to fear him and the US.

But yeah...getting pretty bad when China is more respected.

A fairly good summation of what didn't happen at the G6 Summit:

They might as well begin calling it that, as it is clear as day we are spinning out of orbit in order to now circle the Dark Star, Russia.

I think this is a correct assessement. The US is no longer a multi-lateral international partner in any respect. America First is America alone.

Carney is no fool. And he is not inexperienced in handling difficult situations. And he handled Trump brilliantly by cutting off the press conferences and effectively denying Trump
all the oxygen in the room.

Canada is shifting alliances toward the EU, Great Britain and the Pacific nations.

Europe is actively restructuring to act in its own interest without the US always having the final word.

Watching Trump scuttle off after literally fumbling a pretend trade 'agreement' with Great Britain, Carney giving Zelensky Trump's place at the table were stark
symbols of diminshed US influence and respect for Trump and the US government.

NATO is only going to be much worse, although I also get the sense that since the US already knows it is going to try to withdraw and that
the rest of the countries have no faith remaining in the US as a partner in the organization that TrumpCo. may do the same thing as at the G7.

Berate and insult the other countries, try to shake them down to buy more American planes, equipment and other weapons and then flounce out of the room early.

The US will bomb us out of existence in 3 days.

If the broligarchs want the minerals in Greenland, they will get the US govermment to just take them.

This is Musk's wet dream too, based on his Grandfather's wet dream before he got turfed out of Canada.

I am under no illusion that Trump...WITH THE APPROVAL OF CONGRESS...would seize Greenland.

Trump and the broligarchs would slaughter every Canadian and Greenlander to steal our resources. They are no different than Putin and the Kremlin oligarchs.

What we all need to do, is kick the US (Musk) out of bases in Greenland and the Canadian Arctic. Reduce them by 90%.

Establish EU/Canada bases instead.

As long as we allow this cuckoo in our nest, TrumpCo. and MuskCo. will keep working to steal everything.

All of us:

We are all tired of the space the US occupies in our brains and our day and our policies and
our governments. and life generally.

It was only a matter of time before TrumpCo. found someone in Congress to front an act to withdraw for NATO.

So on one hand, TrumpCo. will be pressuring NATO countries to buy US equipment and munitions and on the other hand withdrawing from the pact.

Lee's bill is likely just another performative gesture, but it reinforces how untrustworthy the US is when it comes to multi-lateral organizations.

Not an easy-peasy prospect. Macron sent a nuclear sub to protect Baffin Bay. Any encroachment on Greenland triggers Article 5, and likely armed rebellion in the US if Congress would not act to impeach.

More likely is Trump will bear the stain of another extremely public brag with widespread ridicule for being a Grade A Fool in diplomacy.

Well deserved.

A good look at what is happening in the global economy as BRICS+ moves to build economic resilience that doesn't rely on US domination. Other blocs, like the EU
are doing the same.

TrumpCo.'s erratic and unhinged trade policies and decline into stagflation are resulting the rest of the world increasingly looking to innoculate against the inevitable crash.

However much the world is distressed by Trump and his tariffs the idea that the US will become economically isolated defies Econ 101. At this stage most US trading partners are no doubt wishing this will all pass once Trump leaves office but since there is no guarantee of that hedging against a future full of US tariffs is a wise move. However should those tariffs disappear in the near future it will be back to business as usual as the US is just too big and too wealthy not to engage with. And should there be an ‘inevitable crash’ it’s far more likely the US will drag most other countries down with them than any other outcome.

And I’ll give you an analogy to further the point. The EU has mostly weaned itself off Russian energy after the invasion of the Ukraine and has lately been planning to ban it completely by 2027 or so but if a resolution to the Ukraine conflict occurs it’s more likely than not that Europeans will once again be feeding at the Russian energy trough. They will keep some of their newer sources to prevent Russian energy blackmail but you can’t beat the economics of a gas pipeline vs. liquefied natural gas.

Markets love efficiency and are only forced to discard it when we live in interesting times.

LNG exports from Canada welcomed in the Far East. Trump boasts of success while torpedoing the economy:

I really do believe that the west at least, has woken up to the reality of the post-American age.

For decades, American Marshall Plan and Cold War hegemony had become a given. In exchange for US intercession, Europe and the UK basically gave the US free reign to be a full partner state with extraordinary access because of the threat that the USSR posed to world economic and physicl security.

This may finally signal the close of WWII and the Cold War era if all the major players take on the mantle of leadership as the US slides into isolation.

Unsurprised to hear that Trump is taking the US out of UNESCO.

Likely another goal of Project 2025.

Means that the US won't be bound by any respect for UNESCO heritage sites or provide any support for cultural heritage.

What a sad, immature nation the US has become under the GQP.
