re: Post #53 .. can anyone help.

I'm still not sure what the 'S word' is ...

Google suggests, 'sustainability', 'suicide', 'slut', 'significance', 'sin', ... etc
... none of which seem on quite the same level as, "The N-word"; "The F-word"; or "The C-word".

The answer is probably staring me in the face and I'm just too 'slow', 'simple', 'stupid', or 'senile', to see it. #-o

^ silly?

Anyway, I live in a mobile home, in the winter some folks have trouble with pipes freezing. One company printed a flyer and left it at our doors,
it read: WE UNTHAW FROZEN PIPES

When I was a toolmaker I constantly heard "I can't unloosen this".

Spank. (Spank you)

When I was a toolmaker I constantly heard "I can't unloosen this".

Of course they can't unloosen it. It's already as tight as it can get.

Of course they can unthaw them. They're already as... er... Sorry. Got nothin'.

No. Spank you. Now drop trow and bend over while I heat up the paddle. *places metal paddle into lit fire pit*

Whenever I hear someone (for example, the current US president) use the word "folks", I recall that in "Elements of Style" Strunk thought the word "folksy" and therefore best avoided.

Speaking of politicians and folksy, it drives me UP THE WALL when US politicians start dropping final g's as in "comin' " rather than "coming" in an attempt to be seen as "regular folk". Do British politicians have similar vocal mannerisms?

I don't know why he bothers, really. Occasionally he'll get more than 3 responses, but most of them are less than 3. There are a whole lot of 'zero' responses. I'd have given up long ago if I had that track record.

That's because you're not a troll. He sees there's a thread on a certain subject and decides to make yet another thread on the same subject.

Troll or issues.

Next will be "What is your favorite member of X band?"

Please don't give him any ideas](*,)

And now that he is starting his "Favorite Album" series he is taking to plagiarism. He does write what he posted and doesn't credit source material!!!

Expresso is perfectly acceptable in English, French and Spanish, and has been for decades.

It is not. It is wrong.

It is Espresso.

Now start pronouncing it correctly.
