  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

This ghetto trash wants some damn chicken!!!!

Never been there but I do love chicken.

I like how one of the guys said 'we've been looking forward to this special day' :rotflmao:

I love chicken too:)

Not me, you. Everybody in that video was black, but they didn't look "ghetto" to me. They all had cars and were reasonably well-dressed. What makes them "ghetto trash" (as opposed to other kinds of trash, I guess)?

The anger at a fast food joint for running out of free fried chicken.

Look, you can't have it both ways. Half the time you invite everybody to share in your enjoyment of the amusing behavior of African-Americans.

I enjoy stupid behavior regardless of race.

For example, the thread about "crazy black bitches" (your words). Try and deny that that thread was about black people.

The title wasn't meant to be taken seriously nor was it meant to be representative of black Americans. I didn't think I'd have to explain that but lo and behold.....

But then, if a white person says something about race with which you even slightly disagree, you call them a racist.

I disagree with blacks about race, ask matterofsplatter how many times he and I have clashed over racial issues. Or ask Nik2 how often we joke about him being "black where it counts." Maybe I'm missing something but the only hang-up I see is on your end.

These people don't have access to a grocery store? I find that hard to believe.

Why is it hard to believe? Is it really that surprising that grocers aren't eager to run stores smack dab in the middle of areas with high-crime and low-income? A lot of those people don't have cars, carrying frozen food on a bus for an hour and a half ain't too hot of an idea.

For those that do have access, produce ain't exactly cheap. One watermelon costs about $7, that same $7 can buy two kids meals at Mcdonalds.

Just because you haven't heard this on your local news doesn't mean it's not true. If you owned a grocery store would you rather open it amongst upscale shops or in an area with nothing but gun stores and liquor stores with crackheads and prostitutes walking around all day?

http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2008-07-05-fresh-produce_N.htm

For years, Mel Williams rarely ate fruit and vegetables — unless it came out of a can. Fresh produce was too expensive or too far away until the state-funded "Veggie Mobile" started bringing the fruits and vegetables to him at a lower price.

Williams is one of millions of Americans living in a "food desert," urban or rural areas unserved by a big grocery chain that can serve up fresh foods at lower costs.

As a spoiled, lily-white suburban dwelling white boy, I must confess that I can't even imagine not having access to fresh, good quality food. Fruits, veggies, all that stuff that so many of us take for granted.

But, I know it goes on. Kids are growing up on a steady diet of Twinkies and potato chips. I think I read something about Obama trying to do something about this. But, I'm sure it's a long road ahead.

It's really difficult to imagine that anyone could reach adulthood without realizing that what you can reasonably get away with saying does depend, in part, on who you are. That is, simply, life. And it's best that way. I don't talk about women the way they talk about themselves and each other. That would be suicide. Same goes for race. We love our racial and ethnic humor, but we do have to mind our manners if we are not a member of the group being roasted. That is, unless you are mega-talented like Miss Shirley Q. He's in a class by hisself.

It's not that hard. Some words are offensive to people who belong to a particular group. If you're not part of that group, you can't use that word without being offensive. People who are in that group can use that word in a humorous or affectionate context.

Example: I can say "here comes that same old faggot" because I'm gay. If a straight guy says it, it's offensive.

Or rather, it's up to me whether to get offended or not. Personally, I don't give a shit what people call me. I've heard it all before.

Assuming you're white BearDaddy, which seems highly probable, you can't use "nigger" or "nigga" without looking like a racist. If you don't care what people think of you, I sure don't.

Most people have figured this out by now.

EDIT: And by the way, it's not a question of the "PC police". It all comes down to, do you care about other people's feelings? If you do, you'll try to learn to express yourself in a way that's not offensive to them. If you don't... well let's just say there are plenty of places on the Internet where you should feel right at home.

I don't accept any of that at all. (Neither that it is a consensus nor that it ought to be.)

There are organizations in the US that are working to fix this, like the one I linked above. Fortunately they're not waiting for Obama, the lower class has enough to worry about without worrying about access to bare essentials like fresh produce.

Well it's your funeral if you want to run around thinking you can speak to members of a particular racial, ethnic, or other cohesive group in the same manner that they speak among themselves. That could be dangerously naive. Membership has it's privileges. Every such group I've observed has an unwritten code about what can be said ,and by who, when in their company: Italians Americans, Polish American, Irish American, African American--it makes no difference the group. The difference is you and what your comparative status is.

And it's your ghetto if you want that kind of a mob mentality. Good luck with that!

I did not think anybody went there in the first place. Lousy food.

Okay - so let me get this right - it was not free chicken, but 50% off of an 8 piece meal which will now cost $4.99. So, one restaurant runs out of chicken and these individuals are driving all around town in these gigantic gas guzzling SUV's to save $5 on some chicken? I don't know about anyone else - but are they not spending more in gas to save $5 on chicken? I get the Entertainment book every year and there are tons of buy on get one free offers from a ton of restaurants, even fast food places. And, right now there are many nice restaurants offering price fixed meals or buy one get one free during the week. This is just another case of people fixated on saving $5 - but spending too much time and money to save it. Kind of like last year when gas went through the roof, someone at my office drove 15 miles to save $.10 on a gallon of gas. So, yes, they saved about $1.50 on the fillup of 15 gallons but used about 2 gallons of gas to get there and back and had to wait in line.

Well, it's hard to believe because the people that were driving to fast food establishments obviously had not only their own sources of transportation but some of the customers were driving SUV's. One customer was even wearing a suit and tie. These people don't exactly seem to be confined to a particular location. The fact is, there is probably an organic marketplace just down the road from Popeye's. I think the people featured in the report were just fast food junkies complaining over something incredibly trivial.

Obviously, I was expanding the discussion. I didn't say "these people don't have access to grocery stores" I said "some urban communities." It is my fault for going off on a tangent.

A watermelon for $7.00 is absurd but organic produce is reasonably priced and conventional produce is pretty inexpensive, at least in my location.

Bolded=key phrase. In not just your location but your situation. "Reasonably priced and inexpensive" is subjective. A reasonable price don't mean jack shit to somebody who's got a wallet full of nothing.

There's no reason a low-income family should have to resort to eating fast food all the time and suffer the often expensive consequences.

I already explained to you the reason, I posted an article as well.

Okay - so let me get this right - [snip]

Cosign. I didn't even think about that. They probably spent more on gas to find this free chicken than they (would have) saved on the meal. No Child Left Behind fail?

Wow...I'm so sorry I opened this thread. The ignorance is astounding. :dead:

This thread could have been fun :(.

Ghetto, I loved your original intent for this thread. Hell, there's a Popeye's a block away from where I work, I have walked my skinny(?) white ass over there to get lunch. As for the rest of the responses you received, I have nothing to add to that but my silence. Thanks

Ohh shit, this is my kind of thread. And now i am pissed im on the second page! Now im upset. I now have endless amount of quote from this fantastic clip. "Peoples hav kids we gota feed, how we gona feed our kidsss " "They always runnin out of sumthin" " no chicken, or are they just outa chicken ?" "They shoulda had a sock pile of chicken, naw they shoulda had a tracta out in da back, wit extra chicken, on ice" What have we learned from this all ? The blacks loves the chicken!

Remarkable that they are all black...that's racist just as much as if they only interviewed all whites or all whatever...Or is WHAM making a statement there???

Racist? Maybe it's a black neighborhood. There are MANY parts of the US that look nothing like a United Nations convention.

“I’m more disappointed than angry. I’ve been looking forward to this day”

:rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

How did I miss that gem? I've stopped eating fast food but I'm going to start again. Every time I walk in the first thing I'ma say to the cashier is "I've been looking forward to this all day."
