  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Attention This place officially sucks....

Dont like folks who downgrade technical problem by pigeon holing user who experience, basically by being a bitch without offering significant solution.

I use chrome- no software update- no plugins- nothing, I defrag and clean cache everyday...It was smooth and sail until JUB acting up 2 days ago by numerous sudden logoff. The source problem is real folks..

**(this is the third login)

JUB currently has 98,548 members/accounts/JUBbers.

Precisely how many JUBbers are experiencing this 'log in' problem? I don't believe I've seen as many as a dozen reports/complaints.

There are only 3 or 4 in this thread who claim to be having this problem. Everyone else seems to be going 'smooth and sail'. :)

So, I'll repeat:

. . . .
I wouldn't be too hasty blaming this site for a problem that seems to be affecting only a few. It's not up to the owners and administrators of this site to teach JUBbers how to use their own/personal software/hardware.

Sorry to report that with my verrrrrry elderly MacBook, running Safari 5.1.10 (which several websites tell me is too old) I have had no problems at all, excepting the two times the Gurus have taken the Forums offline to 'fix some bugs' and the occasional times 'The Database has encountered a problem' which only required a click on the refresh button.

Even my credit union tells me when I go to pay bills they want me to upgrade something, I click the FYou button and don't, everything works just fine.

I'm guessing that there are a buttload of incompatibility issues out there, and gratefully, I don't seem to be having any problems.

:gogirl:

Maybe also there's something bad floating around and I am immune because my computer was supposed to die years ago...

^
I'm using chrome..

gosh how difficult it is to login ](*,)

I use Chrome (on 8.1), supplemented by a Chromebook and I very rarely suffer from any log-in issues on either machine. Could be due to software incompatibilities, glitches and other such things. It can't always be down to the site playing up...

Hello, Trying to fix a few bugs.... Be back as soon as I can. Best,Vannie.

Erm, I suppose you're creating a new recipe. With bugs which you fix.
Of course, bug-stuffed cabbage is a well known delicacy, but cabbage with fixed bugs is a novelty, I presume? :p

I can't take the constant signing in, being booted, signing in, not authorized to comment in threads, data base errors you name it. I've complained in the report a bug section with no results or even an acknowledgement from the people who run this place. I've been here a long time and don't complain much, but this place sucks lately. *%%*

I can only sympathize, my connectivity issues all ended once Microsoft tricked me into upgrading to
Windows 10.

Anyone would have be out of there mind to pay to be on this site. Everything you said is true. I write an email its says you are not authorized please sign in and I am already signed in i is badly run!

People who let software have its way with 'automatic updates' (browsers, operating systems, addons, routers, etc.) will all experience any problem(s) that may occur with those 'updates' all at the same time – as they are released.

This logging in and out business doesn't seem to be a universal problem, nor does it seem to have anything to do with the site's recent 'data error' problem. In fact, it doesn't seem to be affecting very many JUBbers at all.

It's quite likely that some JUBbers have something else in common besides posting on JUB – something on their end that is fucked up.

I wouldn't be too hasty blaming this site for a problem that seems to be affecting only a few. It's not up to the owners and administrators of this site to teach JUBbers how to use their own/personal software/hardware.

That may very well be the case, although when I do experience it, it happens on both my computer an tablet, which I use different browsers for each. For the record, I haven't had an issue this morning.

Also, even if the site was not experiencing any technical issues last month when FPNY posted his problem in the tech help report bugs forum, it would have been nice if someone on the site at least replied and said the issue was on his end. At least he and a few others of us would have known. Again, this was the only site I had issues with getting loggrd out repeatedly. And also also, for the record, at the time I did clear cookies, cache, reboot, defragment, etc...everything I knew to do on my pc and tablet.

Have you 'improved' the security settings on your browser? I'm using the Firefox 42.0 (latest version) and have no problems.

Press "Alt T" together to get the Tool menu, scroll down to Options, a browser page opens with the options.

Click on "Privacy" to the left. It will list the settings for your browser.

Is "Always use private browsing mode" checked? Uncheck it, and restart the browser.

If this doesn't help, you may need to clear your internet browser cache. The "Clear history when Firefox Closes" has another option menu which is accessed via 'Settings' button on the right. The cache can be cleared by checking that.

If none of this helps, (*8*)

It is all very well saying "Clear your cookies, change your browser": us who have no idea what these are are completely lost.

I am taking a chance here in saying that it seems to be sorted out for me and I am now staying logged in.

It's kinda lame seeing all of you guys help each other out with these issues and seeing moderators/admins not bother to join in the conversation and pitch in.

Maybe it's time for all of us to move to a different forum, or create one. Moderating/hosting a forum is crazy easy, especially the size of this one. The only problem is money, depending on the size.

I moderated one of the internet's largest forums for 3 years.

so, i'm on an apple mac book, i clear the cookies, browser etc every time i leave the internet.

If you clear your cookies every time you exit your browser that could explain why you have to log in every time you come here. Add this site to your list of exceptions on firefox that way whenever you clear your cookies the sites on that list are exempt.

i don't mind the logging in everytime, it's the getting booted by the time i reach the bottom of a thread that I am reading. If I decide to contribute to the thread, I am required to log in again...and again and again.....somtimes I don't even make it to the hot topics front page without being booted....

I am using both Chrome and Firefox from different devices and the problem persists. When we were having the database error I was able to access with the second try but now there are times that it just doesn't work, and when it does I have tried to log in like 5 times. It's not only an issue of remaining logged in but also logging in.

Again, this was the only site I had issues with getting loggrd out repeatedly.

Exactly. Everything's fine on other websites.

and now, i've been logged in for hours, made several contributions (dynamic, interesting ones too) to a couple of threads with no issues what ever.....go figure
