Thurs, 29th: President Obama on The View

I just finished watching it.

It was sound and fury signifying nothing. Obama's gotten SO good at political speak that can answer most any question without really saying much of anything.

*sigh*

Elizabeth almost managed to control herself until near the end when she INTERUPPTED THE PRESIDENT while he was talking about students going to college with her, "But what if there are no jobs" blurt out.

Fucking bitch. I can't stand that woman.

..| BostonPirate, I like all of your comments in this thread...

well, all of them except the one about Sherri. You give her too much credit by deeming her a "political comedian" of "biting humor". She's not such a clever lady.

rendel was saying its undignified to be on a morning show, while he was on a morning show
It is undignified for a POTUS, not one of fifty governors.

Obama should have made time for the 100th Anniversary Boy Scout Jamboree in his backyard first.

But there aren't any jobs? What is wrong with asking a pointed question? Should Obama give one of his filibuster 10 minutes answers to a "are you cold?" question unchallenged?

Well, if you go on and on and on without answering a question, or go off on a tangent, he should expect to be interrupted. He should know (and you should know too), that when you go on a morning talkshow you're going to get interrupted. It doesn't really matter who you are. That's part of the format of the View, so anyone that expected anything different doesn't really know much about that show.

This was not the first time a sitting President has appeared on daytime TV. George Bush appeared on Dr. Phil in 2004. Dr. Phil was apparently unable to help him.

I just love the new team of Nick & LL, but as has been pointed out innumerable times, most recently by the departing Peter Orszag, the stimulus was the biggest that they could get past the Republicans and conservative Dems. If you like reality, and I know many of you don't, then you have to deal with what is possible and not what is ideal. Even Krugman has acknowledged the opposition to the original stimulus package.

What timing. Dr Krugman's column published today is a carbon copy of what I said the page before.

"Why does the Obama administration keep looking for love in all the wrong places? Why does it go out of its way to alienate its friends, while wooing people who will never waver in their hatred?"

The column is called "Curbing Your Enthusiasm." And Obama did...

He was great. Hasselbeck is a dim bulb with her Journalism 101 questions she asked the President. She's as stupid as Sarah Palin.

well...

I didn't want to say that she was the only one with no political chops...lol ;)

I had to turn it off, after a few minutes. After the picture show of his family, and beaming smiles of Babs, Whoop, Joy, Sherri, and even Lizzie; I couldn't take anymore. Did anyone else notice when Lizzie finaly spoke, and asked a relavent question? Everyone on that panel turned to her with narrowed eyes and pursed lips. I'm not a member of her fan club, but at least she's not afraid to ask him a serious question or two. I did think that she was respectful, though. What happened to honest debate? When did it become verboten to disagree with a sitting Prez.? It sure happened a lot to Bush..Just tryin' to keep things in perspective. I now await the personal attacks on me and what I believe. Let me just say that Obama is not the second coming of our savior. I hope people can stop seeing him as that, and he's just another Human, just like you and I.

he is human. not more not less. people on this forum want him to be either the second coming of christ or the great satan of the endtimes.

maybe he is just a person who is president. Just a man who can make mistakes and have success while trying to do his best.

I don't understand this all or nothing mentality.

I caught clips of it on one of the only real news outlets left, The Daily Show..I like how the right wing were losing their shit because Obama didn't meet with the Boy Scouts and, instead, cheapened the Office by appearing on The View..Unreal.

I'm suprised that skank managed to control herself at all.I think it would be great if she got hooked on crack and ended up being tag teamed in real cheap porno productions.

Why vote though?

Vote and hope to maintain the majority, only for Obama to compromise on watered-down bills?

I'm definitely not voting to I show my frustration. Obama wasted a super majority trying to get a Republican here and there just so he can say he built a coalition.

Paul Krugman, a colleague of many of Obama's economic policy advisors, has criticized the administration for putting in a stimulus that was too small from day one. Rahm Emmanuel convinced Obama that a package of $1.5 trillion would never be accepted by the public so Obama caved on PR's worries. This is the same public where one in five believe in witches.

So, Obama listened to someone with no economic background and severely cut several programs in his stimulus just to get two Republicans' votes? And now Obama is appearing on a TV show with unemployment around 9.5% to get the vote out?

Times like these painfully remind me that there is only one party in America. There really needs to be a good green party option where compromises aren't made with people with no ideas (Republicans).

Good to see you coming out of the ether Lostlover..Obama lost one of his most ardent fans when he lost you..

What makes her a skank exactly? You're really showing your intelligence

Nobody's better than Krugman when it comes to economics and economic policy (most of the time) but he's a typical egghead (he's the first to admit that) and anything outside of economics leaves him befuddled. Nothing moreso than human nature and behavior. Never ask an economics professor why your bff suddenly lost interest in you.

What Krugman, and so many others, never understood about Obama is that he's a seducer. He's not even really a politician, he's just a seducer who wandered into politics and found an easy ride. And the thing about seducers is, ultimately, all they care about is seducing and how it makes them feel big. A seducer will tell you anything, do anything, to get you. But once he has you, his interest wanes and eventually he's off trying to seduce someone else.

Maybe it wasn't that kind f interview? Going on a morning talk show at the same time as the Price is Right and Guiding Light, doesn't sound like the time slot for politics.

I haven't gotten the paper yet, but I will read it this afternoon. I did originally say that Krugman acknowledged the opposition, I don't believe that he has said that the a greater stimulus bill could have been passed.

I do want to point out to you and Nick that, if I remember my 8th grade Civics, that it does not matter how many seats a party has in the legislature, it only matters how many votes a particular bill can get. Given the fact that most of the Republicans are saying that the stimulus has not done anything and the hostility to everything that the Dems have tried to do and the constant use of the filibuster, I see no reason not to believe the administration when they say that they did not have the votes. In fact, it denies rationality to believe otherwise.

It is silly to continually blame Obama for all of Washington's failures when the opposition is so unprecedentedly intransigent. The constant use of Filibuster is not the way that the Congress was ever meant to work, it is sabotage of the process and it is the Republicans that really deserve everyone's contempt.

I see from the polls that Obama has lost the mercurial and undependable support of young Americans which may explain LL's loss of faith & hope, on the upside maybe we won't have to endure all those rants about old people.

Yeah yeah yeah. ObamaNation excuses. That's all we ever get from ObamaNation: empty promises, lazy effort, lame excuses and lots of finger pointing at people who weren't the ones in power. You wanted Barack Obama to be President, he became President and with that comes responsibility. What a pathetic cess pool of excuses for failure!

Barack Obama's stimulus bill was crap, badly crafted and too small, bloated with tax breaks and pork and entitlement benefits that did nothing to create long term jobs and turn around our economic mess to a healthy growing direction.

It was crap. I said so at the time and it was true.

And that was Obama's fault. Given the circumstances, our supposedly brilliant President should have been hunkered down with the best economic minds in the country (including Nobel Prize winner Krugman as a matter of fact) and crafting historically brilliant legislation instead of body surfing in Hawaii.

right.... Politicians do the late night scene all the time. this is just one more excuse to fixate on the evils of the Oberlord Obama and his Obamabehaviors and Obamaworld and the Obamasupporters.

after a while it gets tedious and childish.

He is the president and he has passed historic legislation in a very short time. I think he could have done more, but I can't think of many who could have done better.

Historic garbage is nothing to be proud of.

I think he could have done more, but I can't think of many who could have done better.

All I can say is wow.

Our future is, indeed, grim if enough Americans, like you, can't think of people who could do better than fail.

^Neither Obama or the "best economic minds in the country" write legislation, politicians in Congress write the legislation and they look our for their themselves and their constituents.
