Too Old for Pokemon?

Well, in the meantime, what do you think of my team? I posted it a little farther up.

I didn't mean to make it sound like Skarmory was immune to electric. Just talking of the shock people seem to get when they can't knock him out in one hit with an electric attack. However, I find myself considering replacing him with a different type, i'm just not sure what. Tropius is interesting, but so easy to take down.

I have to agree about Roserade in ease of defeat. I do miss my Venusaur...*sigh*

You don't know my disappointment when I found out Gyarados was a Water/Flying and not Water/Dragon. I was so disappointed by that. But I just liked Kingdra when I first saw it. I had once considered Lanturn, but I just like Kingdra better.

Fire does seem week to a lot and with Dark it is weak to even more. If only Tyranitar was Dark/GROUND and not Rock. That was another letdown. Tyranitar is so powerful, but it had to be rock, which generally I don't find to be as helpful as ground. I dunno, it has also been one of those I considered for my team...

Gardevoir and Gallade both I expected to be part grass, but the type surprise was nice. I liked the look and the stats, plus it learns many moves, so I just had to add it to my team.

And of course Nidoqueen. I always liked the two, but for some reason always found myself using Nidoqueen instead of Nidoking. I have no idea why that is. I think part of it may be their poses in the game. I think I usually like hers better.

If it weren't for charizard's double weakness to rock, he would be on my team in a second. In fact, i'm considering replacing Skarmory with Charizard and possibly Houndoom with Tyranitar. That is still consideration. Nidoqueen probably won't go anywhere, and Gallade definately won't. Roserade may lose his place to Venusaur or another grass type, just depends on how much I miss him. Kingdra's position is also unlikely to change. I like Empoleon, but his weaknesses make him a bit too easy to knock out.

Yeah, except i've never met a Flygon I couldn't knock out in one ice beam. I'm not entirely sure I understand the ground weakness to ice...I kinda thought of earthquakes breaking up ice...*shrug*

Metagross can indeed be lethal, being only truly vulnerable to fire. I met endless frustration against that in Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald when I had Blaziken so he just knocked me out with a psychic blast if I didn't nail him hard first.

Hehe...I remember the first time I ran into a Barboach. No grass type either. I wound up using my water type to outlast him.

haha, that mental image of Gyarados flying is hilarious! Calling something flying like that is so pointless. Were he a dragon type instead, i'd probably never let him out of my sight.

I also remember I thought Luxray was a dark type at first. How disappointing to find he wasn't...he has that look.

I suppose there is always Spiritomb or Sableye...but I never liked the way either of them looks. Spiritomb has better stats than Sableye if I remember correctly...but I just don't like them all that much, despite their obvious advantages.

That is a good question. Maybe they just decided that Sandslash didn't need a new evolution. Thought why they tought Lickitung needed one i'll never know. Maybe a pre-evolution.

Yeah, and I do miss my absol. I may work him into my team changes, despite the fact that he has only one type. Then again, the only weakness I remember him having is fighting...plus I love Absol.

That would be AWESOME.

"Mewtwo Armor" or "Giovanni Armor" since he was the one who put it on him.

It could slow speed but raise like Special Attack and maybe one or two others. That would be really great. Mewtwo has been neglected for quite some time, and that would make for one heck of a change.

Yeah. Team Galactic was annoying, but thats all. Clearly they did not put enough thought into this team. Rocket has always been and will always be my favorite team. Magma and Aqua were great, but I still want Team Rocket back.

Mewtwo has had few appearances, and very little to do with anything in the game. And despite team rocket apparantly financing and bringing about his existence, they have no interaction at all in the game. What would be interesting would be to travel to the island where he destroyed the lab (Which actually I believe is the island where we get Mew with the right item) and go through team Rocket, all the way up to Giovanna, as they try to get Mewtwo themselves after he goes berserk and blows up the facility. That would be a good way to incorporate them in the game, as well as give Mewtwo more in the game.

But they seem to think moving forward is the only thing worthwhile, so they are unlikely to think about working on truly incorporating old and new.

Thats what I meant. They incorporated parts of the anime in the game, so why make Mewtwo like the most set aside side quest. It's like they put him in there because they had to.

Galactic were thugs, and I saw nothing else to them. Despite their weak attempts at giving the leader some kind of depth and background, I only saw him as a power hungry wanna-be master of all. All the 'grunts' just seemed to want to steal my stuff and dump me off in some water with concrete boots.

On a random note, I remember the first time I caught Mewtwo, WAY back in Yellow. It was with a level 13, 16 or 17 Jigglypuff. I honestly can't remember which of those it was. But it was one of those three levels. I nailed it with sing, started throwing pokeballs(and I do mean the most basic pokeball) and caught it. I was cheering at that. Ahh, good times...

Ah yeah, MissingNo.

I used the glitch. No codes, no nothing. Just the glitch as it existed in the game. It was so odd when I tried to trade it over and they told me the Hitmontop was corrupt or whatever. That was a fun thing that I found too detailed to be accident.

5 years...wow...with games that are completely disconnected from the new version. You know what would be fun...if they made it so that any pokemon of your choosing could walk openly behind you as Pikachu did in yellow. Like if I wanted Gallade to for example. And have the occasional trainer you run into doing the same.

I think, if it were easier to input in more detailed ways, we would all be a bit more impressed by the new games.

I will look into finding a way to submit input that they actually get and read.

Yes, it would be nice. I'd like to know for a fact they are listening and considering all serious suggestions. There are so many things they can change to revive what is starting to fall apart in the Pokemon Gaming industry. Some people have quit because there is simply not enough depth to it, or they are tired of all the obsession over 'out with the old, in with the new'

You like what you like, who really cares if you're "too old" for it. I mean, it would be even worse if you were to cut yourself off from it because of silly ageism. You only have 80-90 years to live, who really wants to give up on some source of enjoyment because of silly "you're too old" rhetoric?

I'm twenty-five, and I still enjoy reading comic books (well, manga, really), I also still enjoy playing Super Mario World. If someone thinks I'm too old to like that stuff, fine. I don't really care because I'm too busy reading my damn manga.

does this look too much with a volteorb?

The "swarm" pokemon are getting on my nerves now. Every night I got talk to the little girl and sometimes it the same pokemon swarm again. Yay, another Skitty swarm. :grrr:

Still waiting for her to tell me about any Beldum or Natu swarms.

Haha. Swarm pokemon can turn into a great nuisance. Still worse, tho, is the Poke Radar. What a pain in the ass that thing is. It hardly ever leads you to a new one. Its like every freakin radar pokemon is extremely rare.

Spiritomb is their sad attempt at forcing people to connect using the underground, and their failure to realize that play in that way is not as common as it would have been in the past. It would make sense if you had to dig up or revive a certain number of fossils...but talk to 32 people? How many people are ever going to accomplish that in the way they intended?

As for Rotom, I have no idea why there was any backstory for that one and not Spiritomb. We are unlikely to find anything out about Spiritomb until it shows up in the anime. That is how they work. They tend to slack off when it comes to storylines involving the "legendary" pokemon or "special" pokemon.

Cresselia and Darkrai each got something of a story, though not very much. And most of the details you have to actually understand yourself, as its not told to you.

*sigh* There are so many things that could be improved on, but they are too focused on moving forward, and I think it is proportional to the shifts in the anime.

I read on Serebii that they can't. Despite having genders, they are still legendary and cannot breed. Aren't Latios and Latias the same way?

Yeah, which is why I said I wonder how many people actually do the 32 person thing the way originally meant.

Yeah, but lately its just the Manaphy breeding. Only one legendary. Legendary combos gained from breeding would be awesome.

Yeah, Mew breeding would make sense, since it is indeed made up of all the genes of all pokemon. Or so they say...

Legendaries not breeding has NEVER made any actual sense. There's got to be more SOMEHOW. That or they live forever.

I thought Ditto was the scam artist...

Yeah, Raikou, Entei and Suicune are everywhere. Even the pokedex entries have it stated that there are multiples if I remember right.

How do we know that its not Ditto pretending to be Mew???

There's too many, with them changing for each game, to keep up.
