One of the poor dears being detained at Club Gitmo has complained about the "mental torture" inflicted on him by the mean, old US.

The horrors inflicted on Mjid Kahn, included shaving his beard, depriving him of sunlight and the poor quality of the camp's weekly newsletter. In addition. Mr. Kahn was forced to use "cheap branded unscented soap" listen to a noisy fan and suffer poor quality athletic equipment.

I couldn't make this shit up if I tried!

Poor terrorist. The DEMS will set him free to do the work he is on earth to do....simply wait. You know it dawned on me today. When the dems do take the Presidency and the congress even more so because the world hates republicans. They will then restore all of these freedoms we have lost, that is if your a criminal.....but I digress. When they remove all of these informational avenues and we are then attacked, will a dem ever be elected again or will they simply go the way of the WHIGS

I hope they didn't give him a wedgie or noogies!

I knew the compassionate wheeze would gasp once more. I am glad our grandparents weren't that American. We would all be speakin German.

Maybe one day the "detainees" might even be actually charged with something too...

I wonder if any of you republicans would mind if you were lifted off the streets of your hometown, flown halfway around the world, and locked up in cages for years , and NEVER even be charged with ANYTHING..

Poor babies..I know..

I also know that this type of shit USED to be Un- American, and will bite us in the ass one day..

I am not talking about the article either....That probably went through military censors who decided what could be printed, and complaints of fan noise were OK..to make their complaints look petty, and not address the REAL issue of why they are still there in the first instance.

The fact is ,what is going on there should shame every one us.

The issue here isn't detention, but one of "torture." The courts are apparently OK with detentions, so learn to live with it. The left wing loonies have taken the side of the terrorists and whined about the poor dears being "tortured" at Club Gitmo. Now we're seeing the extent of the horrors being inflicted on what I'm sure is nothing more than the Iraqi Ladies Bridge Club. Unscented soap, oh the humanity!

Gitmo is a public relations eyesore. All the prisoners should be removed from Cuba and transferred to US prisons and their cases brought before the US Justice System. Far to many lines are being crossed when it comes to the amount of time people are being held only not to be be charged with any crime. Eventually there has to be a point in time where they either charge the prisoners or release them. If they want they can put all the prisoners on a "freedom plane" back to Afganistian and let the plane crash somewhere in the ocean and I will not have any problems.

Plain and simple, torture in any form is inhumane and wrong. We go to war with other countries who do it to our soldiers, why should the world have any less strict guidelines when it comes to us. The above mentioned forms of torture in the first post do sound quite stupid, however the fact remains that this man may have been in custody since 2003 and no charges have ever been filed against him.

Has eveyone lost sight of the fact that these prisoners were captured on the battlefield? Not to mention the fact that they were, in essense, guerilla fighters?

Combatants captured out of uniform are not subject to any of the so called 'rules of warfare.'

Better to keep them than to turn them loose to kill more allies.

EVERYTING is considered the battlefield in "GUERELLA WARFARE", this isn't a conventional war. There are not soldiers wearing uniforms standing in a big open field facing their enemy. US troops raid buildings and homes to capture "suspected enemies" and send certain ones to Gitmo. If this man was fighting on the "battlefield" and shooting at American troops, he would have never been captured because they would have just killed him. The idea of a "battlefield" in guerilla war doesn't exist, the entire country they are in is considered a hostile enviorment and therefore a battlefield.

Ahh so we should take em back and shoot them.? I agree

An Alfie the only coward is the senile old man who couldnt fight his way up the stairs but has allday on his pension to play with photoshop, you know that lazy drooling ole turd who slunk back across the US border when carter was stinkin up the oval. You know who I mean ALfie?

As to the rest of your personal attack, please, Mary, you don't know me, you know nothing about me -- stop looking and acting like an asshole. Thanks, Sis.

Well sweety pie you seem to have that covered for everyone at JUB.

Hey but you fail to listen to all my words. i said set em free. Pull the troops out and elect a democrat. that way we can be blessed with the decimation of that weak kneed party of misfits. By 2010 at the outside we will be eating those "peace plans" after the next "surprise" attack. I am truly not worried. My family doesn't live in the big city targets and I will be on a carrier.

BTW of course we know nothing about you as you hide behind a dogs smile. At least i am candid about who and what I am. Enjoy your bile

Gee, reading this thread has just reminded me why Americans are so hated and feared around the world. You guys don't exactly give outsiders much confidence in the U.S devotion to rule of law or civil rights. Fortunately the incompetence of your administation and military means that we don't have much fear of being conquered by you guys anymore!

In a statement redacted in places by government censors, he complained of mistreatment ...

This from the most dishonest administration in the history of the United States.

Thanks for sharing this with us, Jack. It's always nice to know where Bush & Co are trying to deceive the American people.

Where and when are they NOT trying to deceive us?

I wonder if we can have the Constitution back once DUHbya is finished wiping his sorry little pretend-cowboy ass with it?

Columbia Journalism Review - isn't that the College that banned free speech when the Minutemen were to speak?

They have even less credibility than the Government.

BTW - as a lady said in a letter to the editor of our local paper a couple of years ago "I don't care what they do with Muslin prisoners." Most people I know feel the same way.

Sorry - but as an "interested outsider" I have long been of the opinion that "Gitmo" is a total transgression of the Geneva Covention and that, along with the rendition of prisoners to foreign countries (with acknowledged histories of civil rights abuses, torture etc), is one of the most appalling acts of the Bush Government - and the primary reason that I believe he will be regarded by history as one of the worst US presidents ever.

The whole idea that someone can be detained on unsubstantiated "suspicion" of terrorism, treated worse than an animal, held for years with no avenue of appeal and no likelihood of charges being laid - well, to me that is "up there" with Stalin at his worst. Maybe not quite as bad as Hitler - but an unbelieveable abuse of power nonetheless.

Oh - and please don't start braying about "National Security" and "the end justifies the means" etc. The situation at Gitmo and the rendition of prisoners has now had enough cases and people giving their stories (and taking legal action against the US) that it cannot be "dismissed".

The whole situation is an utterly disgusting breach of human rights...and the more information that comes to light, the more the whole thing stinks to high heaven.

I actually think Nixon was squeaky clean compared to "BlunderBush". Whatever happened to common decency in the USA? The people I know there are great folk - how did they put someone like that in power (twice)?

Why, we did it the old-fashioned way...theft, chicanery and deception!

God Bless America. And hurry.

I don't recall reading about this. Care to give us a link??

Columbia Journalism Review isn't a college. It's a magazine.

They have even less credibility than the Government.

Columbia Journalism Review, or Columbia University, has less credibility than the government because one group of students at one event shouted out the speakers? Yeah, that's a lot worse than lying to Congress, the United Nations and the America people to start an unnecessary war that Bush & Co subsequently totally screwed up.

And you're proud of this ignorance and bigotry.

Very BushRepublican of you.
