On-Topic Trump Bans Syrian Refugees

I'd say that Trump's support was the result of him being the anti-establishment candidate, rather than in anything to do with refugees, and immigration.
I disagree, but Obama's and the democrats priority for immigration and refugees was a major establishment policy. The politically correct pro minority, anti majority, affirmative action are related to immigration/refugees.

^^ (@ kallipolis) Indeed. He generated fear and hatred and campaigned that he was the only one who could fix it. The problem is, he doesn't have a clue how to do it. And I have serious doubts of him actually knowing what the presidential powers actually are. Otherwise, they wouldn't be called into question at every turn.

Big business, and the Republican Party will inevitably tame Trump's ideological ambitions.

I'm an optimist who believes that time, and bitter experience combined with rising pressure from within both parties will ensure that Trump either toes the establishment line, or he will be impeached leading to a Pence presidency which I am being informed might well return the United States to stability.

The Greek Orthodox archbishop in the United States issued this statement, reflecting authentic Christian values:

http://usa.greekreporter.com/2017/0...os-usa-should-welcome-people-of-every-nation/

I quote:

The New Testament is replete with an ethos of philoxenia – love of the stranger – based not on fear but on care and on gratitude. Welcome one another, says Saint Paul in his letter to the Romans, even as Christ welcomed you (Rom. 15:7). Christian philoxenia must not only be extended to those close to us, but must be extended to those near and far away, and even to those who will not reciprocate—to the poor, the stranger, even those who hate us. For Christ says, if you love only those who love you, what credit is that to you? (Luke 14:14)
.

Wrong. It was a major platform of Trumps campaign and his victory resulted in large part from his position on refugees and immigration. Americans voted for it. Further it was Trumps decision to make as president.

He has no mandate from the majority of the people for this.

He just doesn't.

He also does not have the right to contravene an Act of Legislation...which is what the argument will hinge on.

The Immigration Act of 1965 has been upheld since that time and if his order contravenes the Act...then, no...it wasn't his decision to make as president.

But we're all about to see how this plays out and what direction the United States of America is going to chart for its future once this gets to the Supreme Court....which is where it is going to land.

Mandate is your word. The voters approved the plan and want refugees excluded and the alien invasion stopped.

No the majority of voters did not.

And stop using the vile term 'alien invasion'.

You have been corrected on this again and again.

There is no 'invasion'.

Again, that kind of language might work for you and your racist friends over at Stormfront, but it is absurdly false and insulting on this forum.

You have not corrected by disagreeing 500,000 or so a year is an alien invasion by any definition.

^ You must be positively orgasmic over this news. Your fear and hatred tactics are working.

Oh, by the way, you're on the list. Your time is coming.

It wouldn't be the first time that Canada has been a haven for people fleeing the United States. We've been doing it now for over two hundred years.

Alas the reverse is also true. In 1012 there were about 800,000 Canadian immigrants in the in the US .https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct...lmLYCESl5P4lNEwKwfqg&bvm=bv.146094739,d.amcIf it is such a perfect place with all that diversity, why are so many leaving?
And they lead the world in overstaying their visas. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct...nz_7oXMPuE1pY1yUC8_snA&bvm=bv.146094739,d.amc

Well the weather has always been the biggest thing....which is why a lot of snowbirds go to Florida and California.

A lot of Canadians also have dual citizenship and work on both sides of the border.

I used to do some work in the US as well as Canada. And I love the US. Well most of it.

But I've pointed out in another thread that a lot...and I mean ...a lot of snowbirds are now reconsidering going south for the winter or for retirement.....three couples and individuals that we know have thrown their properties up for sale ...because they really hate what they see happening.

Canada is in bigly trouble if you keep spouting off at the mouth.
