Paul Ingrassia is no longer the nominee to lead the Office of Special Counsel, two White House officials told CNN on Tuesday, after his chances of getting through the Senate confirmation imploded following reports of racist text messages that he allegedly sent to a group chat.

Ingrassia posted earlier Tuesday evening that he was withdrawing himself from his confirmation hearing “because unfortunately I do not have enough Republican votes at this time.” He added that he appreciated the “overwhelming support” he received and that he “will continue to serve President Trump and this administration to Make America Great Again!”

Paul Ingrassia, the 30-year-old lawyer whom President Donald Trump has nominated to a five-year term to lead the Office of Special Counsel, appears to be dead in the water ahead of his Thursday Senate confirmation hearing.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune told reporters on Monday that he hopes the White House will withdraw the embattled nominee in the wake of a Politico report that revealed Ingrassia had allegedly described himself as having “a Nazi streak” while using racial slurs in a private group chat.

“He’s not gonna pass,” Thune said.

Ingrassia, a Cornell Law School graduate who currently serves as a White House liaison to the Department of Homeland Security, was tapped by Trump to lead the Office of Special Counsel shortly after his inauguration in January. The independent agency is charged with protecting government whistleblowers and enforcing ethics laws.

Paul Ingrassia, President Donald Trump’s embattled nominee to lead the Office of Special Counsel, told a group of fellow Republicans in a text chain the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday should be “tossed into the seventh circle of hell” and said he has “a Nazi streak,” according to a text chat viewed by POLITICO.

Ingrassia, who has a Senate confirmation hearing scheduled Thursday, made the remarks in a chain with a half-dozen Republican operatives and influencers, according to the chat.

“MLK Jr. was the 1960s George Floyd and his ‘holiday’ should be ended and tossed into the seventh circle of hell where it belongs,” Ingrassia wrote in January 2024, according to the chat.

“Jesus Christ,” one participant responded.

This guy is just another clumsy and ignorant bully.

Pete Hoekstra was a loon before lunacy became the norm. He was one of the first people in Congress to sign up with the Tea Party. His views were out of the mainstream, which is why Michigan booted him out of Congress 15 years ago. He was resurrected to be the Ambassador to The Netherlands during the last Trump Administration but that kinda made sense because Hoekstra was born in The Netherlands and speaks Dutch.

WTF he's doing in Canada is a mystery. He's 72 years old. He should have been sent to the glue factory by now.

Normally, I would say, "Either make him apologize or expel him".

But we're about to start a war with Venezuela, so lord knows what the tin pot dictator and Predophile in Chief would do if Canada sent Hoekstra back to DC.
