Re: Trump Staff Picks

Wonder if the smart money would be on Jeff Sessions to be up next and take the last train to Alabama? Who would think there would come a time when I would see him as a sympathetic character?

Re: Trump Staff Picks

Now that POTUS has, to no one's surprise, gone off the rails (again) saying he would initiate import tariffs.

Not only is he lying about the 'whooping' the US is taking in trade with Canada, he is using the tariffs to blackmail us into giving him what he wants. It's no wonder so many of his 'enterprises' have gone belly-up.

When Trump came up with this, he probably had no fucking clue that we even imported steel from Canada. Don't be fooled into thinking there is a plan.

There's some evidence that Trump doesn't quite understand the difference between a budget deficit and a trade deficit.

There's also some evidence that he thinks that the manufacturer and the exporting company pay tariffs; he doesn't seem to quite comprehend that tariffs are added to the purchase cost of materials, so the purchaser is getting screwed. Those infrastructure projects that he promised during the campaign just got even more expensive for the States and the US government.

Re: Trump Staff Picks

Here's something I had not considered. Not only are staffers leaving in droves, but they're not being replaced. Who would want it? No one wants the trouble, frustration and shame, let alone bearing the taint of having served Him.

Oh come on. Everybody wants to work in the White House. The White House has tremendous energy. They all want to be in the White House. Everybody wants to be there.

Re: Trump Staff Picks

^ So, for any position, he'll have the choice of the top 10 people for that job. Why, then, does he always pick the least qualified?

(Don't answer. The question was rhetorical.)

I loved how he spoke with much less than the "tremendous energy" that he repeated twice.

Re: Trump Staff Picks

News reports today are claiming that Trump is relying less and less on White House Staff for advice (seriously, there can't be many left) and has been depending upon his 'genius' brain to make decisions all by himself without telling any of his staff.

What's that word for someone who rules a country all by himself?

A lot of Trump's schedule is "executive time" which is apparently time he spends on the phone with "advisors" or watching cable news. Among his phone friends are Rudy Giuliani, Rupert Murdoch, Sean Hannity, Chris Christie and his cronies from the NYC real estate market.

There's little indication that he listens to his cabinet members or the experts in government (many of whom in the State department, have left government). It's unclear whether he attends traditional briefings like the Presidential Daily Briefing. Apparently, he has problems with "attention span".

His weekends are spent playing golf and hiding his golf-playing from the Press.

The Michael Wolff book makes it sound like the country is being run by a moody ill-tempered teenager.

"Disgraced former President".

More and more...I think our government is being run by the kremlin....

It seems everyday another move to destablalize or gut something else..and the cabinet members are all people who have contempt for and want to destroy the agencies they head....

The first thing I thought of when trump agreed to go to N Korea...putin told him to.

Re: Trump Staff Picks

Psst, Rex. We know you just got in from Africa at 4AM this morning. But we've got some bad news. Call your office when you wake up.

Trump ousts Rex Tillerson as secretary of state [WaPo]
President Trump asked the embattled diplomat to step aside and plans to nominate CIA Director Mike Pompeo to replace him, orchestrating a major change to his national security team amid delicate negotiations with North Korea.

And also today, this guy. Who didn't even get to collect his jacket before being escorted off the premises.

John McEntee doesn't seem to have actually had a grown-up job in the West Wing child care centre, but he had been with Trump a long time.

Dying to know what was so bad with respect to security issues that he got turfed.

I'm suspecting leaking.

Re: Trump Staff Picks

Oh. And by the way, Tillerson's replacement, Mike Pompeo, hates homos.

Re: Trump Staff Picks

Goodbye, Rex! Hello, Mike. This is looking more and more like a serialized satire about a reality TV personality who through no fault of his own wins a presidential race and ...... well, tune in tomorrow. More story arcs and plot twists with each episode. Will the season 1 finale be in Pyongyang?

Trump also announced that he was hiring McEntee to working on Trump's 2020 re-election campaign.

"National Security issues" got him fired but he's still good to work on the re-election campaign. And since when does a President start on a re-election campaign 4 years in advance?

This. Is. Not. Normal.
