Re: Trump Staff Picks

Uh Oh.

So John Dowd (not pictured in the post above) quit because Trump announced the hire of the whack job [STRIKE]lawyer[/STRIKE] conspiracy theorist Joseph DiGenova...now the White House has found there is no way that DiGenova could be hired.......but Trump claims EVERYBODY is clamouring to face off with Mueller.

:rotflmao:

On Sunday Jay Sekulow, another of Trump’s lawyers, said DiGenova would not be joining the legal team after all.

“The president is disappointed that conflicts prevent Joe diGenova and Victoria Toensing from joining his Special Counsel legal team,” Sekulow said. “However, those conflicts do not prevent them from assisting the president in other legal matters.”

President Trump is removing Veterans Affairs Secretary David Shulkin from his post after a rocky number of months that started with a scathing report accusing him of misusing taxpayer dollars.

What term is used for the taxpayers' dollars Trump misuses for his golf weekends in Florida?

Currently it seems to fall into the category of "executive time".

Some people who have to see Trump naked get paid $130,000; some get promoted to Admiral and nominated to cabinet positions even thought they have no experience in healthcare or organizational management.

I'd say that at least Dr Jackson didn't have to have sex with Trump but after viewing his performance at the press briefing about the President's physical, it could qualify as a rimjob.

Re: Trump Staff Picks

Telling him he would never say "You're Fired!!"

I heard Dr. Shulkin interviewed on NPR this morning....the morning after. He said his European vacay was an international meeting that the VA heads have attended for 43 years, at which he presented three lectures and attended 40 hours of meetings. His wife was invited, and she flew coach class. The whole thing was vetted by VA ethics before hand. After the OIG issued a very different opinion, Shulkin wrote a check for his wife's ticket to reimburse the government. The White House told him he couldn't respond to the OIG findings. In any event, even if he had shamelessly abused his office and misused public funds for his personal benefit, this would not have made him remarkable in the context of POTUS and members of his administration. A major issue within the VA is the privatization of services provided to veterans. During his tenure, outsourcing to private sources had increased about 20%, but political appointees in the organization wanted to move much faster. To me, this eagerness to outsource represents one or all of three things: a) a traditional GOP interest in reducing government bureaucracy, b) speeding access to care for vets via private sector resources or c) rushing to stuff the pockets of campaign donors at the expense of quality and continuity of care. He was very circumspect when asked about the circumstances of his firing, and focused on issues confronting the VA. As for Rear Admiral Jackson (who is much more a DILF than Shulkin, I must say) whether this appointment is a quid pro quo for his opinion on our 73 year old, obese and erratic POTUS as being ready for the NFL physically and mentally ready to be, well...POTUS, really really smart, etc., or just because he is someone who POTUS knows and who thinks like he does, who knows? Jackson is a physician, but then so is Ben Carson. Our vets dodged a bullet there, so to speak, when Dr. Carson was already floundering at HUD. By the by, physicians are not great managers, by and large. They are trained to focus narrowly on a disease process. The big picture is often lost on them. Jackson may not be the most insightful diagnostician, nor does he appear to have experience relevant to running a mega organization, but POTUS likes him, for today anyway, and that's enough for the Senate, no doubt.

Re: Trump Staff Picks

^ So true. Doctors tend to focus on the fire at hand. mr trump seems to be throwing his staff under the bus and replacing them with the lowest common denominator, repeatedly.

like rb says, "We're all so fucked."

Re: Trump Staff Picks

I am starting to wonder if his base delights in his firing these people after blaming them for everything that he is ultimately repsonsible for IN EVERY WAY!

The thought just occurred to me...

...and it just keeps getting creepier..and creepier....

It takes them back to his 'Apprentice' days. They loved to hear him say, "You're fired!", and he loves to hear himself say it even more. It shows his power over them.

In other words, he gets to play God.

Re: Trump Staff Picks

Hold on!! It gets better. Pruitt has been POTUS' back-up plan for Sessions (!) This is perhaps in part why he is unimpressed by the lapses in ethics, if not legality. But then, why would he start caring now? Sorry, I read this on Huff Post, probably early today. I laughed. It's so fucking pathetic. POTUS still has a hard-on for Sessions, of course. It seems that POTUS has talked about any number of people to replace Sessions, but Pruitt is had been mentioned more lately. I laughed out loud. JHFGDC, Donald! WTF?

Re: Trump Staff Picks

Another "coattails" resignation that slipped by last week. This one is related to Tom Price's firing for exorbitant travel costs (or maybe his failure to get the ACA repealed like he was told to do?).

HHS official who approved Tom Price's flights resigns [Politico]
John Bardis, a top HHS official who signed off on ex-Secretary Tom Price's charter jet flights, is resigning effective April 6, the agency confirmed Thursday.

The health care entrepreneur and longtime friend of Price's from Georgia served as HHS assistant secretary of administration since March 2017 and was responsible for departmental operations. He also helped oversee the ReImagine HHS project, an initiative to overhaul the agency and cut costs.

Bardis' office has been the focus of a probe about whether Price's use of charter-jet flights for routine domestic travel — which cost more than $400,000 — complied with federal regulations.

(the image above was in a directory named "mugshots" ironically)

Mr Bardis' bio has already been pulled from the HHS site. He had previously been a CEO of a healthcare revenue analysis and supply chain firm that was headquartered in Georgia near the [STRIKE]swamp[/STRIKE] suburban Atlanta district where Price came from.

Bardis was qualified for his position- he had a long career in healthcare leadership and had founded a successful healthcare business. However, he had gotten dragged into several other problems at HHS. His deputy, Jon Cordova, has been under investigation (and was temporarily suspended) for spreading conspiracy theories on social media. Cordova is another example of a common problem with Trump employees- his primary qualification is that he worked on the Trump campaign.
Cordova, a former Trump campaign staffer, shared false stories about former President Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and others, CNN reported last month. For instance, he suggested that Cruz frequented prostitutes, and he called for a boycott on Budweiser because he said it supported "jihadis."
Senior HHS official placed on leave for promoting unfounded claims and conspiracy theories on social media [CNN]
Unlike Mr Bardis, Mr Cordova was allowed to return to his job at HHS.
180220171541-kfile-jon-cordova-hhs-headshot-exlarge-169.jpg

Prior to joining HHS, Cordova served as a Trump delegate from California to the Republican National Convention and worked in communications for Donald Trump's campaign in California.
During the 2016 presidential campaign, Cordova routinely promoted stories on social media that pushed fringe claims about Trump's opponents that have no basis in fact.
In July 2016, Cordova shared a story that asserted without evidence that Khan, who spoke out against Trump at the 2016 Democratic National Convention, was a "Muslim Brotherhood agent" and "a Muslim plant working with the Hillary Clinton campaign." He also shared another story that falsely claimed the Clinton Foundation paid Khan.

No word yet on how many times Mr Cordova met with Russians.

I suspect that this is why the insiders are working so hard to get this guy fired.

Re: Trump Staff Picks

Pardon me, but what is 'JHFGDC'? I'm not entirely up-to-date on my internet acronyms.
