Trump this.

The chefs down at Mar-A-Lago might want to put away all of the ketchup bottles for a while.

The NY State Attorney General just won a summary judgment indicating that Trump undervalued his properties for the purpose of assessment of property taxes. The Trump Organization is guilty of fraud.

Prisoner P01135809's businesses are likely to be run out of New York and there's likely a multi-million dollar judgment coming. This may also mean that businesses owned by Don Jr, Eric and Ivanka are likely to lose their ability to do business in NY State, too.

In Major Ruling, Judge in Fraud Case Finds Trump Overvalued Property

The decision will simplify the path to victory for Attorney General Letitia James, who has accused former President Donald J. Trump of overvaluing his properties by as much as $2.2 billion.

The New York attorney general won a major victory in her civil case against Donald J. Trump on Tuesday when a New York judge determined that the former president fraudulently inflated the value of his assets to obtain favorable loans and insurance deals.

The decision by Justice Arthur F. Engoron precedes a trial that is scheduled to begin Monday, and could considerably smooth Attorney General Letitia James’s path.

Justice Engoron’s decision narrows the issues that will be heard, effectively deciding that the trial was not necessary to find that Mr. Trump was liable and that the core of Ms. James’s case was valid. It represents a major blow to Mr. Trump, whose lawyers had sought to persuade the judge to throw out many of the claims against the former president.

There was quite a bit of bed-wetting in the Democratic Party over Trump's planned visit to Michigan tomorrow. There were accusations that Biden let Trump outwit him and the White House quickly scheduled today's appearance on the picket line in what appears to be the plant in Warren, MI.

Trump's appearance tomorrow (if he actually shows up) is actually at an event sponsored by the National Right To Work Committee, an anti-labor, anti-union organization. NRTWC describes itself as a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization that works for legislation against what it calls "compulsory unionism," when employment is contingent upon joining a labor union.

Like most of these organizations, they also have a legal defense fund called the National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation which promotes getting labor-related lawsuits into the Federal Courts to undermine labor laws and union rights. There's also a 501(c)(3) organization which accepts "charitable donations" called the National Right to Work Foundation. A major donor for these organizations is Donors Trust, a Koch-affiliated charitable organization.

NRTWC repurposes donor money to transfer the funds 100% to Republican candidates. In 2011, a NRTWC-affiliated organzation, Western Tradition Partnership (WTP), was implicated when documents were found in a "meth house" that showed that WTP had been illegally co-ordinating with candidate campaigns, in violation of its 501(c)(4) status.

The Detroit Free Press is correcting the record on Trump's claims to be the champion of the working man:
Trump rolled back Obama-era protections that would have extended time-and-half overtime pay to millions more workers. He didn’t lift a finger to raise the federal minimum wage, which has remained at a low $7.25 an hour since 2009. His administration pushed to ease safety requirements for oil rig workers and relax rules for safety inspections in coal mines. Trump also eliminated the ban on a toxic pesticide, chlorpyrifos, that causes acute reactions in farmworkers and does nerve damage to children...

When nominating U.S. Supreme Court justices, Trump chose people who were far friendlier to corporations than to workers. One of his appointees provided the deciding vote in Janus v. AFSCME — the most important anti-union decision in decades. That decision substantially hurt labor unions and their treasuries by ruling that teachers, police officers and other government employees could opt out of paying any dues whatsoever to the unions that fight for them and win raises for them. That 5-4 decision overturned a unanimous 1977 decision that was a victory for the Detroit teachers’ union, and made sure workers paid their fair share to their union. Trump’s nominees to the National Labor Relations Board repeatedly favored corporations over unions, often acting in ways that made it harder for workers to unionize.

Trump appointed Antonin Scalia's son, Eugene Scalia, to head the Department of Labor. Prior to his appointment, Eugene Scalia was a corporate attorney who defended corporations against labor and financial regulations.

Trump's appointees to the National Labor Relations Board were pro-corporation, anti-labor.

Under the Trump administration, the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) has systematically rolled back workers’ rights to form unions and engage in collective bargaining with their employers, to the detriment of workers, their communities, and the economy. The Trump board1 has issued a series of significant decisions weakening worker protections under the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA/Act). Further, the board has engaged in an unprecedented number of rulemakings aimed at overturning existing worker protections. Finally, the Trump NLRB general counsel (GC) has advanced policies that leave fewer workers protected by the NLRA and has advocated for changes in the law that roll back workers’ rights.

Trump also supported a National Right-To-Work bill which would have weakened union regulations at the State and Federal level.

Trump has been bad-mouthing UAW leadership while claiming to be supportive of autoworkers. Like most things Trump says on the campaign trail, it's lies.
...union leaders say Trump’s record in the White House speaks for itself. Union leaders have said his first term was far from worker-friendly, citing unfavorable rulings from the nation’s top labor board and the U.S. Supreme Court, as well as unfulfilled promises of automotive jobs. While the United Auto Workers union has withheld an endorsement in the 2024 presidential race, its leadership has repeatedly rebuffed Trump.

We'll see if Trump actually makes an appearance in Michigan tomorrow since today has been a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day for Trump and he's unlikely to sleep well tonight. :(

In other Trump is losing it news...

The Tangerine Temper Toddler was at a gun store in South Carolina. He boasted about buying a Glock. One of Trump's spokespersons Xcreted that Trump had bought a gun. As an indicted felon, Trump isn't allowed to buy a firearm and its unclear why he would need a firearm with his 24 x 7 Secret Service coverage. After the Press started questioning whether it was legal for Trump to purchase a firearm, the X post suddenly disappeared.

The gun shop where Trump made the appearance, the Palmetto State Armory, is known for marketing to White Nationalist groups.... because of course they do.

A spokesman for former President Donald J. Trump posted a video on Monday showing him at a gun shop in South Carolina, declaring that he had just bought a Glock pistol.

The post on X, formerly known as Twitter, included video of Mr. Trump, the front-runner for the Republican Party’s nomination for president who is facing four criminal indictments. He looked over the dullish gold firearm, a special Trump edition Glock that depicts his likeness and says “Trump 45th,” as he visited the Palmetto State Armory outlet in Summerville, S.C. “I want to buy one,” he said twice in the video.

He was just grandstanding and lying again.

But back to yesterday's decision.

My guess is that the case will go to appeal immediately.

But I think that TrumpCo. is now done for good. It is now likely so untouchable by any legit banks and lenders and under so much scrutiny that even the rrrZZnz won't touch it.

The verdict establishes one important fact in consumers' minds...that Trump buildings aren't worth as much as they say...and that will in itself expose the brand as cheap.

So now, if you are a member of a Trump club or go to a Trump hotel or own an apartment in a Trump building, the value of your experience and real estate investment just took another nose dive.

Remember when Harry and Leona Helmsley owned New York?

Neither does anyone else.

But back to yesterday's decision.

I think he's already sued the judge (Engoron) trying to try to invalidate the case or delay it. The appeals court hasn't ruled on the suit against Engoron. It's confusing whether Engoron's rulings are valid because of that pending appeal.

One thing that I haven't heard is how NY State handles appeals and how long and how far this will go before its settled.

The other unknown is whether this decision will be stayed by an appeal or whether the receivership goes into effect immediately along with the suspension of Trump's ability to do business in the State of NY while any appeals are in process.

Trump has been using LLCs to segregate different projects and different properties that he owns. Allegedly, there are hundreds of LLCs involved in the Trump syndicate. It may take years to unravel it all.

I did make one misstatement yesterday. The NY judgment applies to Donald, Don Jr and Eric. Ivanka was excluded from the suit in an earlier decision.

In listening to the interviews with the New York Times reporters who have been doing the forensic accounting work on Trump's tax records, the thing that I noticed is that they were shocked by the severity and finality of the judge's decision. One reporter did say, in effect, "This isn't over. You'll be interviewing me about this case for a long time before it's settled".

Other legal expert pundits like George Conway and David Cay Johnston said "He's done. The Trump Organization is finished."

There has been a lot of attention paid to Trump's fundraising off his victimhood narrative since the 2020 election. It is true that Trump took in a lot of money in 2020 and 2021 on his claims of the election being "stolen" from him. But what hasn't been discussed is that his donations are declining since then. One his latest campaign reports revealed that his PACs have already spent $40 million on legal fees.

I think he's going to run out of money. He's going to be in the same situation as Rudy where he's going to have to start selling properties in order to pay his bills.

Another thing that I heard yesterday was an aside from David Cay Johnston, who specializes in forensic financial reporting, about the extent of Trump's lies about the finances of the Trump Organization. When Trump bought Mar-A-Lago in 1985, he claimed that he paid cash. The truth is that he bought it with 100% financing and somehow convinced the lender not to publicly file the notice of lien, in violation of NY State law. Trump claims that Mar-A-Lago is worth $300 million now and it is the source of his claim of Florida residency (even though the covenant agreement says that Mar-A-Lago is not supposed to be used as a permanent residence). Trump has lied so much about his finances that it's hard to be sure the extent of his debt and his actual net worth. If the judge levies a penalty judgment against Trump that is hundreds of millions, along with the loss of the Trump businesses in New York, he may be forced into bankruptcy.

and, the Donald continues to act like a spoiled 2 year old :rotflmao:

Eric is also having a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day.

"never missing a loan payment" In between bankruptcies, that is.

As Executive Vice-President of the Trump Organization, and the guy who his Daddy put in charge in 2017, Eric had nooothing to do with the years of misstatements and exaggerations and falsehoods in the Trump finances.

And yet, he again lies about the value of Mar-A-Lago... just like the judge called out in the decision.

"Fire sale prices". . .could this be true :D

"Fire sale prices". . .could this be true :D

This is what I was suggesting above.

Trump is now a ruined brand no matter how this all turns out.

Being found guilty of fraud in this way ....in NEW YORK...probably just devalued their assets by another 50% in NYC yesterday. People used to pay for the brand and the name...and a couple of years ago there was buzz about those who owned square footage in a Trump building begging for the name to be dropped because they were losing a fortune on resales.

TrumpCo. knows that even if they stay out of jail, they will never sell another unit or night in a Trump Org. hotel in New York. And I don't think the Scion brand that the kids attempted to push back in 2018 is moving at all.

At this point, whio but the most die hard Trumpists want to brag about golfing at a Trump course? Or living in a building on NY west side with 'TRUMP' blasted all over the facade?

This fraud conviction is also going to stick like shit to a boot in the upcoming primaries. If his competitors ignore this then we know the GQP is running a banana republic campaign...but if any one of them has some gonads...they will flat out say that the man is literally a convicted fraudster.

Where this is going to get complicated is that buildings that have "Trump" on the facade may or may not be owned by Trump.

In some cases, another party owns the building and they've contracted with Trump to "manage" the property. Trump is allowed to put his name on the building but he doesn't actually own the building.

In other cases, where they are condos involved, the individual units are owned by the purchase of the unit and Trump is just the condo management company.

Many of the hotels and golf courses are owned- partially or completely - by third party investors. Liens are held by banks and mortgage companies.

There's a 2019 article that I need to dig up and re-read where one of the journalists did an analysis of the LLCs and Trusts that exist. From what I recall most of the LLCs reported no income.

It sounds like the plan is for the receiver to appoint a third party to assume management contracts for the Trump Organization. Properties actually owned by Trump would have their income held in escrow to satisfy the court judgment. This would definitely apply to companies organized in New York State. It would likely apply to properties physically located in New York State. The unknown are properties that are out-of-state or in foreign countries, although there's a lot of evidence that Trump may no't own many of these properties, even though they have the name "Trump" on them.
